They certainly were safe when I was a child...now I am not so sure......I am suspicious of them now....sometimes I think TPTB....mix in some bad vaccines with the good ones....sometimes I think they play Russian roulette with us.

Please don' t take what I say as gospel on this subject....I could be very wrong.

Personally...I would go to a trusted family doctor....to get my children's vaccines.

It's a tough choice. Vaccines aren't 100% safe, but then again neither is tetanus, polio or diphtheria. It really becomes a question of the risks outweighing the benefits, or vice verca.

Plenty of information out there, though. You just need to do the research and make an educated decision. I honestly don't know what I'd do in your situation. I have had the TDap (tetanus, diphtheria and percusses), MMR, and Hep B vaccinations and I haven't had any type of adverse affects, but there are plenty out there who have.

Then again I refuse to take a flu shot as I believe it to be unnecessary.

I think a prudent question would be what will happen if you don't get the shots. Another would be what could you do if the shots actually cause a problem. You may be very surprised to find out that no one can force anyone else to take any medicine and even if you could prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that a shot damaged your child...the doctor, hospital, and pharm company will remind you that legally they aren't liable because it was YOUR CHOICE.

I would say they are safe, i have had vaccinations and they did not cause any problems, however everybody is different so it may be possible for some individuals to have side effects.

Lol, just having to ask this question proves they are not safe

You should go ask a few doctors or nurses so you can get a widder spectrum of answer, i dont think ats is qualified enough in this field, unless we have vaccine specialist, or doctor or nurses who can give you good information

Nothing is 100% safe. Keep in mind there are always risks involved with injections and other medicines. You should always weigh the benefits of a treatment including vaccines against the risks. You will see numerous threads here on how dangerous the vaccines can be. But by comparison there are very few if any threads on the risk of what can happen if you do not get a vaccine for say Polio or Tetanus.
Polio is devastating. Tetanus will kill and it is not a pretty site. I have seen it. so not getting a vaccine can be far worse than getting it. If you do an internet search of dangers of vaccines....you should look at the other side of the coin and see what can happen if you do not get that vaccine.
I have not seen one person ever get Tetanus if they have had a vaccine for it in the past few years.
but the few cases I have seen....causes me to get it for myself as well.
I have been vaccinated for Polio, tetanus, and other diseases as a child. I am alive and doing quite well, and have an education to be proud of. It did not harm me one bit save for pain when I got the shot.
And I am certainly glad I did not get Tetanus or Polio.
However I weighed the Risks of Swine Flu against the risk of that vaccine, and chose not to get it. I also did not get the flu last year..but now I am over 60 and I do intend to get the pneumonia vaccine.
Weigh the risks against the benefits and do the math. check the disease for which you are going to be inoculated. then you decide which is the greater risk.

When I was in grade school and high school, if you didn't get the vaccinations you 'needed' you weren't allowed to attend classes anymore. So, obviously my parents made me get the shots. I think they are BOGUS.

I don't think that they are safe or healthy. I've seen reports online that they actually don't do a thing. Testing groups who have the shots & not. In fact - those who got the shots got sick/worse/longer.

I wouldn't get it. But then again I'm paranoid - and think the government is putting something in me. Soooo..

I actually talked my boyfriend from getting one the other day. He listens so well.

I have had a ton of vaccines in my time and im not dead... so yes.. they are safe

If you actually wanted to infect that many people with a disease or with anything for that matter you owuldnt have it in an opt in injection... you would gas them... if your plan is population control what diffrence would it make?

untill someone can come on here, who has a degree in a relative science and can conclusivley prove.. not through examples of other people saying it but actually fully explain there scientific method and testing too why it is unsafe i think you me and everyone ave nothing to worry about here

just my thoughts

All of the below are personal opinion, if you think or/and need medical treatment PLEASE goto a licensed medical practitioner, and not the internet

If you scare easily, do not look into the pathogens mentioned in "know your enemy", these CAN be fatal but not always. Again see the bold point above (i cannot stress this enough, the internet is NOT a doctor, and there is a high chance that anyone who claims to be is not (so be a skeptic and talk to your local GP))

Good morning friend,

Vaccines have been discussed on various occasions, some people believe they are toxic and will kill everyone, others believe what the medical professionals advise us of.

Usually the vaccines given to us when we are young (which you are mentioning) are usually to contain highly contagious and potentially fatal bacterial/viral agents. I do believe the was a W.H.O study done a while back (1990's?) about the 'death' of small pox, how it was 'destroyed' in the wild by the use of immune boosters and/or vaccines. However a second study completed in the early 2000's found the virus was still in existance, and it was still killing the young.

For me personally it comes down to two factors:
1. Would it be detrimental to my offsprings on going health?
2. If i do not get my offspring vaccinated, what damage could he/she do to others if he/she was to contract a highly contagious agent?

In the end the choice (as a parent) is yours, but please ensure you also see past your own direct family and think of others, most of these pathogens do spread like wildfire when infection starts.

Know your enemy (all wikipedia links, do your own research!!):
Smallpox
Mumps
Polio
Whooping Cough

These are just a list of SOME contagions out there, which can have touch and go results.

Yes, they're safe. So saith the FDA, the CDC, and the IOM. If you think these people are secretly trying to kill you or mind control you, you are probably not convinced. But I think most people would be, especially since the CDC publishes its meeting minutes and the IOM book lists its sources, so you can double-check everything they say.

Did you ever think ATS doesn't think you are qualified to answer this question either? Perhaps if you find a doctor or nurse that is not bought and paid for by the medical establishment I might consider their opinions otherwise I would just take Napolitano and Sebelius' answer as fact.

Well, you could listen to people like Jenny McCarthy...

Or you could listen to people who know what they're talking about...

Such as The Institute of Medice

Or the National Academy of Science

Your choice.

I was vaccinated and circumsized, this does not mean my kids are going to get the same. Vaccine numbers are now over 20+ by age 5. When i was born there were 14 i believe. The number has increased and there are cases where people get the disease they were vaccinated against from the vaccine.

articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com...

You make decision based on your odds. I hope luck is on your side no matter which side you play.

So don't get the live polio vaccine. Problem solved. Unless you live somewhere with wild polio, you probably can't even get the live vaccine anyway. The US and UK only use the inactivated virus. The other two vaccines mentioned in the OP, diptheria and tetanus, do not contain infectious material, so you're not going to get a disease from them, either.
