Acknowledging suspicions that two of NASA's earth observation satellites were hacked back in 2007 and 2008, the space agency has indeed confirmed "suspicious events" in a copy of an independent Congressional advisory panel on Chinese / US relations, obtained by Bloomberg News. NASA would not say whether the attacks were organized by the Chinese military as suspected, instead opting to assure the panel that no data was captured or manipulated and that they are working to establish an agency-wide space protection program.

4 years ago? We hear about it now, why? No data was captured or manipulated but they feel the need to tell us about this now? Everything that comes from NASA stanks.

Don't forget that all this technology is man made. So it's bound to have mistakes in them witch offers people a way in. I still have to see one piece of code that cannot be hacked into.

Maybe they took data from it and found something that NASA would normally cover up? And now they can say that if it is released the hackers altered the image and put it there claiming it as a direct NASA source?

Who knows why they hacked it, what they found, and why NASA feels the need to spill this to the media.

Not a good idea to make your weaknesses common knowledge until you have figured out how those weaknesses have been or can be further exploited and exactly by whom.

Chinese? Pfft... It's the terrorists! Or Iranians...

Joking aside... isn't it a well-known fact that The US government and Nasa have some of the worst security tech in the world? There's practically hundreds of hackers gazing at top-secret and hidden documents/images right now as we speak.
