I'm sure many of you are familiar with the controversy surrounding the Diebold voting machines that are slotted to be used in many states in the upcoming election, but a new twist revealed at blackboxvoting.org reports that by entering a 2 digit code in a secret location, the tallying machine can be easily tampered with absolutely no trace.

The problems stem from the fact that there are secret sets of books (ask any accountant - having more than one set of books in the Access Database can easily allow fraud to surface) which can be accessed and modified secretly through this hidden backdoor. The backdoor was alledgedly programmed by Diebold senior programmer Jeffrey Dean, a convicted embezzlor and self admited black mailee.

If anyone from the US is not at all concerned over this, please examine your patriotism. Democracy is built on fair voting - if this great instutition is corrupted, or at least the possibility for corruption exists, then is there any value in American democracy?

I can't believe nobody cares about this.. If you read the article it clearly states that adjustments can be made to the tallies at the accumulator stage (where all the results from the machines are processed) without any record! All you need is a couple corrupt witnesses, and it's all gone to hell. Jeese.. you USians are going to be in for a whopper of a surprise come election day..
