So being a defense contractor means you're already getting taxpayer money.

People who are trying to change a broken system are wrong for doing so? Just because you don't agree with some of them.

In your field nearly every job available to you is government funded one way or another.

quote from the OP

America isn't an illusion. It's an ideal founded upon individual liberty. I'm never content or comfortable... I always seek to exceed expectations. THIS is what our nation was founded upon: the strength of individual achievement..

NOT the collective. the collective drags you down. It suppresses you and makes you think it's ok to be average. Achieve, Excel

Sounds to me from what your saying its "Screw you Jack Iam doing fine" what a great attitude for a Human being, bet your against healthcare for the poor and sick.
Sometimes Iam glad Iam from the UK.

how could you possibly read that quote that way? Simple test: you and I are in 3d grade. You get an A I get a C. The teacher decides that the "good of the collective" is mui importante and we both get a B. You on board with that?

What you're missing is that people that are "doing fine" often understand that giving back to the community by volunteering at the local shelter or giving to charities is part of life. You're missing the right hand of the equation. All you see is greed. I'm sorry for you.

I'm not a defense contractor anymore, but I actually earned every penny I got paid. So you have a problem with defense contractors and think we should expand our military to cover those jobs? Off you go.

So are the people at the OWS. Since you've used the terms "dirty hippies", "scumbags", republican= representation, etc. I'm not sure if there is any real debating, sharing with you. Seems your mind is already set.

I can tell you, most people participating in the Occupy movement have done exactly as you have in life. Tried to educate themselves, pay their bills, WORK at a job that pays enough to survive and prosper. They aren't against you or the American Dream, they are against corruption and egregious profiteering. You say we'll change things by voting, calling your local representative....while a agree that is of the utmost importance, WILL NOT affect anything in the close Wallstreet / Washington / Banking / Corporatism / Lobbying circle. The game is rigged at the top and until that is fixed, nothing underneath will change for the better either.....regardless of Dem or Rep. Step back, take a breath, and see what's really going on.

BTW...using slurs greatly takes away from your argument and makes one look unable to discuss facts coherently

I'm like that: I tend to categorize. But I don't see the OWS people as anything other than leeches. Perhaps its the media, perhaps it's the way they behave. All I see is a bunch of college students funded by their trust funds and the usual group of protesters (code pink, nazi's, et. al).

Here's a "leech" at OWS screaming his opinion...seems more fired up then you
......so you disagree with everything he's saying? And really...pulling the nazi card....you probably just lost any sympathy you might have garnered.......as I mentioned in my first reply....your mind is set, this is a trolling thread....good day sir.

I really don't understand why the OWS puts everyone in such a tizzy...well anyway a good portion of people on ATS are in a tizzy over OWS, but when they are trying to bring to light the corruption between WS and DC? Some of the protesters may be socialistic bent, but there are also those who are touting less regulation in agreement OF TP'ers. There are really no hard set solutions they are simply out there to bring the DEMON out into the light and educate people, when they know the Demon then they can figure out the solutions to bringing the beast down and fixing the system. Entitlements are actually not what they're about, I mean a good portion of the protestors would like to see an Educated America where there is fair wages and plenty of jobs and end the corrupt welfare crap system by educating more people to do for themselves...education is the foundation of ending entitlements. Everybody know that!

The funny thing is, the "1%" are driven be greed ("dont take from my hard earned money")..and the "99%" are driven by greed also (because THEY say that the 1% are taking their money).

Again: Greed, Greed, Greed...no matter what side you are on.

This is why your society will rot and fail, because NEITHER side is ready to make compromises, and its more important to each individual to have a dollar more in the pocket...regardless how many unemployed, non-insured and non-eucated your society has. As long as YOU have a dollar more i your pocket, you don't care about the homeless, unemployed or whatever other # is going down, you think your life "is good" while everything around you is going to #s.

This is why i believe currency should be done away with...
problem is...
we have used currency for so long, that people really dont know how to have a comunity that is not ecinomic...
oh well...
lets just have another war, and let a new group of assholes build a new capitolist empire from the ashes...
Theres no excuse for an educator to recieve anything more than a man who shovels dirt...
(op) you are the one with entitlement issues. You have taken part in a corrupt scheme, and are now convinced that you deserve the level of luxury and wealth that you posess. Perhaps you do deserve it, but so does my father, he spent in exess of 25 years, wroking in the heat of the day, and the chill of the winter, building(not contracting the labor and profiting effortlessly) the very homes that your 'middle-class' pays so much money for...
However, despite being among those who constructed these homes, he has never been in a position where he could afford to purchase such a home.
(my biggest grievance with our system is that, labourers are paid less, than intellectuals,)
Every man, should have equal reckongnition for his deeds... Currency provides a means by wich one can inflate the value, of one thing, over another thing...
( I bet you dont find it wrong, that you are overpaid)

Maybe I have a bit of commie in me

I once had the gotta excel/gotta get more pay attitude but it didn't do anything for me(emotionally I mean, yeah I had the car money blah blah blah), I wasn't giving anything back to society and I thought my job is doing nothing for other people just making some dude behind a desk richer so I quit and now do a job most wouldn't but I do help people every day.
I think attitudes have to change, yes we need people to be the best they can be but we have to teach them its not about the money, its how it make's you feel as a human being.
The day we all just start working together and stop stabbing each other in the back to make a buck will be a great day indeed.
You making a thread slagging the OWS dude's off when you don't have an idea why they are doing it isnt right.
And to be honest you jumping to conclusions and using the N word for no reason just make's you out to be a crappy guy.
I read fear in your 1st post even though you had nothing to fear of.

Could you point out exactly where I said I didn't like defense contractors? I work for a military supplier. They pay very well. If it weren't for the illegal pointless wars, my talents would be used elsewhere.
You missed the point. You're railing against people who you think just want government money and admit that you took a job paid by government money.

I support OWS because I have seen first hand a man lose everything because of corporate greed. I worked for a different supplier at the time. This man invented a new machine and process that streamlined the manufacturing of the items that company made. He did it on his own time because he still had a job to to do. How was he rewarded for his hard work? The owner sued him for the patent rights and fired him.

So get off your high horse and stop talking down to people who disagree with your viewpoints. Maybe then you can have a serious debate without people attacking what you to say.

And yet, there you go again. Why are you assuming this place is liberal? Are you f**king kidding me? I've seen the hard core right wingers, the liberals. pretty sure there are freaking future murderers and cult leaders on here. I've seen 80 year olds on here who still think they know it all. I've seen 12 years old acting the same way. 20 year olds who support wars and killing of people, 50 year olds who haven't even had a relationship or sex. So there you go again making assumptions. This place is more diverse than you're giving it credit for and as much as I hate the mods, admins, members sometimes, their just doing their jobs and it takes different strokes at the end of the day. So come on man, stop trying to feed keywords to me because I find it hilarious that you are boasting your accomplishments and all that petty bs to us yet not offering a single solution. It's your thread, obviously it riles you up to say something, but can you back it up with some facts or solutions. What's your end game to any of this?

At this point you may wonder about me, to be honest, I haven't contributed a single thing about politics and the world. Why? Because I am a musician. I care more about music than I do the world but when people like you come on here, make assumptions (like someone calling you a ni**er), it's really hard for me not to explode and get pissed off. Your not helping to the solution your bitching. So am I, so is everyone on this thread.

Yet another person who just doesnt get it. Wants to say the systems broke but doesnt want anyone to do anything about it. Wants to complain and moan like someone taking something away from him when no one is. Wants to talk about "entitlement-bred" but doesnt want to look at that issue in society or fix it.

Glad to see you all fired up, just a shame its for no good cause. Maybe if you put a fraction of that energy into doing something, the world would be a better place.

I get it. Oh, believe me, I get it. The system is broken, but what i DO ABOUT IT is vote, and I call and e-mail my representatives and senate members. For you to imply I don't do anything is incorrect. I do what I can within the law.

Where was the "moan" part? seriously? you're just throwing rocks hippie.

Maybe you fail to percieve, that even though you, abide by the law, the corporations dont.
They influence our government through lobbying, and bribes.
In fact there is a term called corporate lobbying. And it may very well be the source of our problem.
Feel free to have your own opinion,its good for you, my personal opinion is that;
"if these greedy bastartds worked this hard on thier scheme, they deserve our stolen money/recources/authority"

(bye the way)
Your not among the group that is being demonized.

THIS! very good point! But I don't think you'll like the way I take it. Just because other people don't abide by the law doesn't mean that gives you carte blanche to break it as well. We are a nation of laws, not men. The correct choice is to drive the law-breakers into justice, and we have a framework for that. Lawlessness met with Lawlessness fixes nothing.

WRONG ANSWER... Our nation was founded by men who oposed violations of 'natural law' comited by the english crown, and in order to establish our very system; they had to disregard the 'imperial' law.
(and focus on the natural laws of reason; be good, be nice, dont screw anyone over)

(we are not faced with lawlessness... we are facing acts of tyranny... we must meet this with acts of ressistance)

Like i said, have your own opinion, it doesnt hurt my feelings...

One of my best friends is a great musician. makes mandolins by hand. Liberal as they come. We disagree on to much, but I love him to death, in fact, I'll pimp his site if you're ever in washington: you can find him at jazzmando.com.

I'm pretty sure I'm not on a high horse, the douchebag thing was probably a bit much. My story isn't BS, it's quite true. Here's my solution:

1) End the fed
2) No more private contributions to political campaigns. Everyone gets a fixed amount, funded by taxpayers.

Happy? Stay safe, stay 2d amendment.
