The current storylines are also rather topical, if you think a little about them. There are shades of OWS in a walkout that occurred a couple of
weeks back, for example. Also, the walkout undermined Tripple H, who had been made the new COO, and now they have a more corporate guy named John
Laurenitis his replacement as a result of the walkout. As a take on OWS, it's not too hard to read into that.
R-Truth turned heel when he went crazy, believing there was a conspiracy at work to deny him a title shot. Think about that..."the truth" is a crazy
and a bad guy. And I have to say, he has really gotten over with me for doing this heel work so well. His crazy character is kind of Ron Artest based
and it's done pretty well.
And guess what...it's turning out that he's right, to some extent. There does seem to be a shadowy conspiracy at work in the WWE, manipulating
events. And to any jacka** who is about to say 'gee could it be the writers who tell them what to do hurrrr' I hope you can wrap your head around
the idea that most wrestling fans know that it's a theatrical production. So obviously I'm talking about a shadowy conspiracy being at work as part
of the story line.
Speaking more broadly to what the OP is talking about...
The question of whether or not art is prophecy is as old as art.
Another old question is, does life imitate art or does art imitate life? The simple answer is that it can work both ways.
The WWE is an unusual form of fiction in that it just never stops. That's why it gets compared to soap operas because there isn't much else that
works like that. How do you write something like that? How do you constantly come up with material?
You have to balance the timely and the timeless.
What I mean by 'timely' is just looking at the world around you, what is going on, and picking up themes from it, and running with them. Another
sort of writing that all but has to work this way are the joke monologues late night hosts do. They do them every night they are on, at the end of the
day, so they are looking at the day's news stories to make some jokes from.
However, you can easily overdo that sort of thing, which is why you need the timeless. What is timeless? A story you could tell anybody anywhen and
they'd get it, because it's about being human, and they don't need to understand the particulars of when it came from. I think the easiest, best
example is "Romeo and Juliet."

Vince stepping down as COO btw was completely fictional. Believe it or not, because WWE is a publicly traded company, this sort of storyline would be
illegal if they didn't disclose that it was fiction in the appropriate sort of official statements.
Similarly, the 'death of Vince McMahon' storyline where he appeared to get into a limo that exploded would have been illegal had they not made the
appropriate disclosure. Vince is insured as an extremely important part of the business.
And yet the Vince/Tripple H COO storyline reflects reality here in that Tripple H is being groomed to be the eventual replacement for Vince as Vince
is inevitably is going to have to throttle back and become more like the WWE's grand dad then it's father. It's also true I'm pretty sure that he
has begun to throttle back a bit on the actual show running duties.
