A recent article pointed to by Matt Drudge indicates that a 21 year old student has managed to get within 10 feet of Dick Cheney at the RNC before being dragged away. Frankly, I don't think this bodes well for the Secret Service's ability to protect either the president or VP from assasination.

NEW YORK (AP) - A 21-year-old Yale student, posing as a volunteer at the Republican National Convention, got within 10 feet of Vice President Dick Cheney and shouted anti-war statements before being dragged away, authorities said Tuesday.

A complaint filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Manhattan said Secret Service agents spotted Frampton carrying a "Bush-Cheney '04" placard on the walkway behind Cheney's box at 9:30 p.m. Monday. One agent instructed him to keep moving.

Frampton began to move away, then turned back in the direction of Cheney's box and began shouting anti-Bush administration slogans. He then started to climb over a low wall separating Cheney's box from the walkway and got within 10 feet of Cheney before the Secret Service agents tried to restrain him.

When one considers the 'American-Taliban' John Walker-Lindh and other caucasian individuals who sympathize with the Muslim movement against the United States, one must wonder how safe our president and VP actually are. In this case, the kid was just a protester, but what about next time?!?

Another article linked to by Drudge indicates that additional security lapses are commonplace at the convention. If almost anyone can get in at this point, could the RNC host the assasination that is to trigger the next wave of Al-Qaeda attacks?

Bah...that's nothing. Here in Canada on more than one occasion the Prime Minister has had a person from a crowd get close enough to smash a cream pie in his face...LOL

However, here in Canada we are less paranoid of assassination attempts because we don't have an ass for a political leader.

Defense attorney Henry E. Mazurek described Frampton as a model citizen

Yeah, this is the way model citizens conduct themselves. I hope he gets the maximum sentence, although in New York, he'll probably get a holiday named in his honor.

When was the last time Canada went out on a limb for anyone but themselves? When was the last time Canada stood up to the world community in defense of liberty. What if the world had to depend on Canada for anything except as a haven for deserters and terrorists?
