Sure, if I have to survive in this dog eat dog system, I'd like a fair chance. I'd rather have a guaranteed chance, but that makes me a pinko and really upsets dome people. If there really is an immediate end to the deep-seated, controlling, well funded, heavily networked corruption, there will still be disagreement. Personally, I don't think that the lesser parties can defeat the TPTB. I think we can starve TPTB. In the process, the rest of us would probably find out we have a lot more in common that we thought, and we were just arguing semantics.

I agree, Neo. The tea party and OWS are nothing alike.

The tea party was - and is - a bunch of selfish, deluded morons driven by misanthropy to demand less rights for people they disliked - blacks, gays, women, mexicans, muslims, liberals, union members - and more freedoms for the corproate rulers of our nation. They wanted - and want - bigger taxes for the poor and fewer taxes for the rich (thus Herman Cain's "stellar" economic plan). Their complaint about hte Republican party was that it was willing, on occasion, to work with the other party in Washington, and so they ditched a lot of senior Republicans and replaced whem with outright whores and sluts in service to the very corproations that funded the tea party in the first place - Koch Industries, Verizon, GE, AT&T, etc. When not doing this, they were screaming about birth certificates, claiming the president was the same as Hitler - up to and including plans to exterminate white people. They threatened politicians, they attacked libereals, and one of your number even killed six people in Arizona. While you, Neo, among many others, immediately rushed to his defense. No doubt that nine year old girl would have grown up to be a filthy liberal, right?

And now that things are worse than before, here you are, groping yourself and smirking happily about it.

So no, OWS is nothing like the tea pary, and thank god for that.

Ahhh, Faux. Slow night at mediamatters?
Your characterization is as inaccurate as ever. I'm glad to see you don't let reason or common sense filter your responses.

What is the desired goal of this movement?
With SO many voices,I would like to get your input,on how these goals are going to manifest in this change you want. Where and how will these changes take place?

Thanks.

Christ, I can't speak for the whole movement. It is as diverse as the TPM claims to be.
and to paint the whole movement because of a few stupid yahoos; is itself quite stupid.

But I would imagine the change will manifest in the ballot box with all Americans voting their conscience; at least locally. National elections are favored if not actually decided by obscenely wealthy men playing golf in polo shirts in Southern California. But perhaps if they see the will of the people in the street; they might be influenced a little bit to temper their greed and corruption. That's the message.

The status quo always hates change.

Confusion can be dispelled by a little investigation. Go down to a protest, talk to people, and actually listen to what they have to say. Listening to Rush all the time distorts ones perception and ability to think clearly.

The last time I went down to the OWS gathering I met beautiful blond that was leaning to the conservative right but curious just the same; asked her out for a drink and We are now very "close" friends and her attitude about us all being "dirty hippies" and "socialist" has changed. Our politics may differ but we can learn many things from each other.

And to be perfectly honest the "Occupy" movement is as political as the TPM but not as focused on ideology and not near as hateful and mean spirited. I've been to both as I don't want to be guilty of condemnation prior to investigation. I am filming a documentary on both movements and hope to be finished with post production by Feb. Then the fun begins....marketing!

Thought this would make a good addition to this thread:

The reactionary left:

That slight dizziness you’re feeling is a contact high from the clouds of left-wing nostalgia in New York City and Washington. The anarchists, anti-globalization activists, student radicals, and sympathetic journalists gathered at Occupy Wall Street desperately are trying to recapture the protest spirit of the 1960s. Meanwhile, Democrats from Paul Krugman to Barack Obama pine for the economy of the 1950s, when the distribution of incomes was much more equal than today. At the same time, high unemployment, lackluster growth, and austerity have led these Democrats to attempt to restore the politics of the 1930s, pitting “economic royalists” against the downtrodden masses. We knew liberals believed in recycling, but this is getting ridiculous.

Actually I did go to an OWS in my city. Unfortunately, It was Liberal based politics,Unions, and Recall signs. I live in Wisconsin,so you can understand that there is Anger here, against Conservatives.. I did ask questions, but got the typical responses I would hear at a Union rally. I am an Independent, and I don't listen to Rush or Hanity. The protest ended at business my father retired from. My father(big Union/Liberal) actually worked in that plant. Their anger is at no jobs, and a current bill that is in place that would terminate or refuse to hire felons.

They’re railing against freeloaders and ex-cons for stealing their stuff and spoiling their utopia. They’re squabbling with each other over money and power. The weather is turning frightful and a cumbersome bureaucracy of their own making is strangling their spontaneity. Their invasion is costing downtown Manhattan businesses and residents a boatload of money. But watching the Occupy Wall Street vagabonds bang their heads against the laws of human nature -- that’s priceless! Oops, I just echoed a dreaded corporate slogan. My bad -- but somehow it fits the moment.

The alliance, based in Washington, is a hotbed of far-left causes that range from backing hunger strikes in California prisons to denouncing the CIA and oil companies. Its Web site says the group sponsors operations in the Gaza Strip, with Hamas, and boasts of an alliance with Anarchists Against the Wall, which contests Israel’s security barrier in the West Bank.

We all know why Murdoch's against OWS, and given that the article is absence of meaningful facts, I wouldn't waste my time

Again, what does this have to do with OWS not being the Tea Party?

Which movements has caused political change in America?

What is the underlying change, and how will it be accomplished?

What will OWS accomplish with protesting ?

America is waiting for those answers. All you give is what you are professing OP's piece to be,Opinion, with NO facts............

Well, so far, they shifted the entire political debate from deficit/debt to jobs...and it's about time. But the movement's young, so time will tell how much it accomplishes. As for the TP, what exactly have they accomplished?

About time? I thought that was the reason Liberals and Independents voted Obama in for????????? Did you coincidentally forget about hope and change, and all the rhetoric of Bush not getting people off of unemployment? Wheres the ANGER for the current POTUS ,along ALL party lines because of this? Shovel Ready Jobs anyone ?

Organized the 2009 Tax Day Tea Party events
Organized the September 12th 2009, March on Washington
Stalled the Health Care Bill for over 1 year
Now fighting to Repeal the Health Care Bill
Stalled Cap and Trade Legislation
Helping thousands of local coordinators around the country to organize their own Tea Parties
Keeping the Media Spotlight on the Tea Party movement
Connecting and Informing Millions of Tea Party Patriots Across the Country
Organized the Health Care Vote Opposition Tea Party on Capitol Hill (50K people attended)
Organizing the 2010 Tax Day Tea Parties

Id say thats a good start, right?

"If you aint with us your against us" right? Isnt THAT the real mantra of the OWS? Thats what I keep hearing.

I can agree to that. People shouldn't have to pay for insurance. Medical care should be paid for by our tax money. It's a lot more important than fighting for oil trade and the IMF/World Bank/Fed/Red Shield.

Replacing one bias with another doesn't make you unbiased.

Also, that is a very unpleasant man. I hope you don't act like that. I talk to people at my job who act like that. I wonder how they're able to function in society and pay the bills.
