What the flyer dropping person failed to note is that their 1% is hardly going to make a dent in the 99% that has occupied those terrible jobs they are going to end up at.

Really, if that flyer was a threat, it was a paper tiger. All of Wall Street could become unemployed and you might never meet one of those people during your daily routine in your entire life.

You make some very good points. I have unfortunately been unemployed several times over the last three years but now I have finally landed a permanent job, with future prospects. Things have been hard the last few years with so many redundancies, so many people genuinely want to work and just cannot get a job.

Seems I am one of the lucky ones but things are never set in stone these days.

Interesting... Its a great argument for 'trade and free markets'. Sounds like we escaped King George to pursue an open, free, democratic (lowercase 'd'), and capitalistic way of life.

Something else of interest:

Ironically, the taxes we protested against were only 7% of someone's income. Now we are at 30-45% of our weekly income.

When 'Occupy: America" protests in the name of 'redistribution of wealth', they fail to realize they are going against everything this nation was founded upon. As a result of stepping on someone's pursuit of happiness, 'Occupy' has become a domestic enemy of our founding principles.

Since domestic corporations and banks are owned by American citizens, following their personal definition of happiness, the government cannot do jack to stop them. Why? It would be unAmerican.

Instead of protesting against the accumulation of wealth, 'Occupy' should be protesting for colleges to teach people about good business ethics. Big difference in approach. One technique prevents the problem from occurring before it happens, and the other attacks the problem after it happens.

'Occupy: America" is taking the side of King George.

The 99% can easily destroy the 1% and thats where its heading.

Just because I don't have a lot of money does not mean my life sucks. The middle class may be having a lot of problems but imagine those problems on half the income. The poor have less money. We all pay taxes and I paid into SS! If you are struggling so hard as well then how the heck can you really judge me?
It is people like you that scare me. You are the type of person who will scream to put the poor in fema camps rather than make sure they get the help they need.
This is why I always make a comment that is against the poor because people who put down the poor are just as dangerous to me as the richest polictian. Why because people like you will ask for something to be done about the "poor/homeless" problem; just like those who wanted something be done about the "jew" problem in the 1930s. When there is a holocaust of the poor whether literal or by taking away benefits I want my american citzens sticking up for me as I would do for them.
I like my life but frankly think it would be a little easier making $20,000. I am not asking for much because I am on disablity I have to go by all these rules and they take away my benefits a little at time to prevent me from working too much. I honestly wish they would take all these rules away but if I could work full time I wouldn't not even be qualified for disablity. The future of the USA depends on kindness and compassion for others; I see people having less and less of it.

The 1% are mainly players in a broken game. We can't just get rid of the 1% and hope that the game will fix itself.

Put an end to the Federal Reserve and fake money that gets loaned countless times. Now that's where we need to start.

Very true. However, I hear people wanting to end the Fed, whose manipulation and debt management through its member banks, allows federal deficit spending. Then, in the same breath, say they want to raise spending and guarantee all sorts of socialist handouts. The twain cannot meet. No logical consistency among many arguments on here.

I sense a lot of jealousy in posts around here. Seriously? Cushy? Overpaid? Do you people understand that those on wall street or in the finance industry work harder in a few months then you ever will in your entire life? The reason they are lashing out finally is because the people who are protesting want hand-outs for doing nothing, and those in finance worked HARD to make their ends meet.

Teacher's don't deserve a damn thing because the education system is a joke and I certainly wasn't impressed with them at the college I went to. Contractors and manual labor workers don't deserve anything either, a cesspool of under-educated morons complaining about every little thing. These people don't deserve anything. "Oh wah - i'm in debt!" Guess what? There are people dying all over the world every single day, without Macbooks, without Smartphones, without *GASP* internet! They don't have time to whine at a city hall, they need to eat to survive. And here you are with enough time on your hands to 'stick it to the man.'

I used to work at a finance firm, we work extremely hard for ridiculous hours and don't ask for a damn thing. We work way harder than a teacher blabbing about Christopher Columbus to a bunch of spoiled punks, or a worker welding some steel together. Come on. These people aren't protesting because they want to take down the 1%, they are protesting because they aren't the 1%.

I currently work in the government for public housing. The people that I provide housing for aren't a bunch of '99%' goofballs. These are legitimately poor people living on the streets, THESE are the people in America that need our help - these people protesting aren't in poverty, they are in debt that they caused for themselves.

I gave this movement a chance. I attended the local movement at city hall in Philadelphia. I do believe that there are sects of the finance industry with some bad apples, such as the hoosiers at S&P who basically took bribes to give bonds ratings which they did NOT deserve. What a joke. "Legalize Marijuana" signs everywhere, "I Hate Teabaggers," a bunch of random quirky internet-joke signs, live 'music' being played off of sticks and barrels. I asked many what they were protesting for, none of them knew. None of them. All they said was "We are 99% and all the wealth in the world is owned by 1%!" Like a bunch of mentally-challenged drones. Did I mention they were all high and drunk? Did I mention most bring their laptops and are seen on a social media site bragging about what they were doing 90% of the time?

I saw someone say something like "wall street drones" or something stupid like that. This just turned into a ridiculous rant, but I feel like some on these boards have such a warped perspective of the finance industry. Everyone thinks it's just a bunch of fat cats smokin' cigars, when in reality it is comprised of some of the most intelligent, hard-working people on the planet. Ah well, hopefully in time the movement will become a bit more...should I say...eloquent and understandable in its direction.

It was actually the Merchant Class that initiated the Revolutionary War, not the poor "kid". But as an astute historical fact checker I assume you know that. Just as with other major revolutions, such as the French Revolution, it was the bourgeoisie, not the poor.
