I agree, but to be honest I don't like lots of the primary concerns that people have with the state of this country. Oddly, many of the speakers, and the issues discussed at the campsite don't involve corruption in politics or the power that big banks have over the government, but instead things like racial issues, foreclosures, and problems/upkeep at the camp.

You could say it's more focused on this state and local community as opposed to the county as a whole, which I don't entirely agree on. There are plans in the works to somehow deal with politics, but lately we've been focusing on gaining supporters for the movement and a big upcoming event that's going on Sunday.

I assure you I'm not one of them.

I WANT OWS to remain peaceful.

Well, I'm glad. I don't think the "HELL YEAH VIOLENCE!" people are representative of either thesupport or opposition. But on ATS at any rate, it DOES seem exclusive to the opposition, where present.

But if they want violence then they need to be willing to accept the consequences of their actions.

Generally the people squalling for violence are nowhere near anything that could possibly hurt them - the 101st Keyboard Battalion, you know? Put 'em out there looking at a line of dudes with clubs and chemical weapons, I'm pretty sure they'll change their minds about violence.

If the Tea Party had turned violent I'd have turned against them.

Then maybe you just didn't notice how endemic violence and the threat of violence was to the tea party "movement"

Fearing tea party violence, four Arizona Republicans resign

Guns belong at protests, right?

Google is, I'm sure, just a "socialist leftist conspiracy site", but you can do a search for "tea party violence" - these are just highlights.

There was a time Fox that i thought violence was the answer as well. And I know what kind of mentality it takes to believe that. That's why I'm against it.

As did I, honestly. But i've grown out of it, aided by in-depth study of history and social movements. Violent revolutions beget violent regimes - Even the US' own revolution fell into this trap.

In another thread several days ago, I asked the members what had happened prior to the canister being launched. That's because I like to see/hear the whole picture, you know. Not a single response. Crickets, even from my personal attack trolls that follow me around, nipping at me ankles. So it's obvious that the people here knew that it was not an unprovoked incident, but did not want to admit the fact. Much better to just raise the temp with words!

Another thread, about a week ago, I predicted that these OWS's would turn violent. No way!, I was told. These people are serious, dedicated, lawful patriots that will never turn violent.

Toldja so.

In other words the Tea party's main accomplishment was shilling for the Republican party?

Well hey, I guess I have no place to argue that neo

Oh so someone getting threaten with physical violence is a laughing matter o you alright then

Glad i know where your morality lays.
Get a sense of humor, Buzz Killington, nobody got hurt. Show me a news article of a reporter actually getting stabbed, then I'll put a frown on and be grouchy like you

"Hi, I'm with Fox News, could I speak to you?"
"Leave or I'll stab you!"

I few isolated incidents of hot tempers boiling over, but nothing to the scale that OWS has produced in 40 days of protest. Apples and Oranges.

And guns belong where ever they are allowed to be carried. Protest or not.

Indeed. I'd rather you and I scream at each other over policy than shoot at each other over control.

...I'm puzzled. You blame it on minorities, claim it's typical of "those people", then complain about "generalizations"?

Are you well?

Is it now?

Credibility has now been hit over the head with a lobbed over bottle and shot with a rubber bullet. Congrats.

You're excused.

Get a sense of humor? Get a conscience.
It's a little more sensitive to more devastating things like veterans nearly being killed, your run of the mill empty threat doesn't shed any tears from my end of the spectrum.

"He threatened to stab me in the throat with a pen. He ripped the mic out of my hand."
Arrest this man! He's got a pen!

Let it be known that Walking Fox and I have agreed on TWO WHOLE THINGS in one thread.

It's getting cold in here.

They have always caused riots, not trying to be generalistic, but remember the LA riots? I am not generalizing there's facts to back that up.
The 1992 Los Angeles Riots or South Central Riots, also known as the 1992 Los Angeles Civil Unrest[1][2][3] were sparked on April 29, 1992, when a jury acquitted three white and one hispanic Los Angeles Police Department officers accused in the videotaped beating of black motorist Rodney King following a high-speed pursuit. Thousands of people in the Los Angeles area rioted over the six days following the verdict.[4]

LA Riots

That being said, they are usually the problems the first ones to get violent.
Not all of them, mind you but they tend to get there first.

Oh, okay. Different standards are to be held for the movement you support vs. the movement you do not support. Glad to have that cleared up.

And guns belong where ever they are allowed to be carried. Protest or not.

So long as it's someone you agree with carrying it? Look, Project, I do admit I don't know what's going on in your head, but given your posting record on this subject, I can't help but feel that if OWS protestors showed up with rifles, you'd be bound to be among the many ATS posters using it in support of brutal violence against the protestors from the police - "lol stupid protestors, bringing guns to a protest! What;d you think was going to happen!"

I mean hey. Look how much support police brutality wins from a tossed bottle.

Indeed. I'd rather you and I scream at each other over policy than shoot at each other over control.

Probably because I'm a better shot
