What if, what you knew and believed about the afterlife was all wrong?

What if religious teaching was just an elaborate agenda to gain control of your eternal soul?

Imagine the first fully conscious man. He has nothing to believe in, no one to teach him. One day he dies, but finds out he lives on somewhat in a place where his only limits are bound by his imagination.

Anyway not long after the second man to ever die drops into this new world. The first man is excited that another real entity has appeared, and unearths all of his findings.

At some point in time, they devise a plan. They realise that they have the power to be anyone or anything. Like many men, they are blinded by greed, and do not want to share the power of the afterlife and knowledge that they have discovered.

So, they devise this plan to create a jail for every other human soul that they encounter. The men aren't totally inhumane so they create a heaven for the good souls and a Hell for the evil souls.

They don't have to wait too long after the creation of these places until a third man appears in the after realm. The third man is friend of the first man, and as a friend gains entrance into heaven.

The two men feel this is problematic, how can they truely decide who is good and who is evil?

So they devise a second plan. They learn of a skill, that when people are asleep, they can send visions and messages through people's dreams.

So the two men start to send visions and orders to the people as they slept. The people create stories and then books claiming to be from the voices of divine intervention.

Now that these stories and books are in circulation, man learns the rules in which he must live his life to get into the glorious heaven. Now the two men watch and can see the dreams of people are tainted by dreams of heaven and nightmares of Hell. The subliminal programming has been a success.

Infact the people become so programmed, that when they die and enter the afterlife, they are fully conditioned to believe that they hold no power and are at the mercy of the one called God, and the one called the Devil. They literally lose all control of their eternal souls.

Soon these dangerous notions become so concrete and implanted into the the human core thought processes that not even non believes stand a chance. Underlying every issue involved in the peoples lives are the rules created by the two men, who are Hell bent on keeping complete power.

What if these two men, these two human souls have been playing this game for so long, that they literally believe their own agenda is real? That they are Gods?

Wow, now this what I call thinking outside the box.

This sounds like a pitch for a book or movie.

Personally i didn't become a Christian because of the thought of an afterlife, well i did consider that but it was not really the thing that convinced me to become one. It was what Jesus did for me on the cross, the matter of fact that God sent his only begotten son to pay the price of my sins so i could have salvation and deliverance from the bondage i was born into. What Jesus did for me no one else can do and for that reason i will worship him and follow the word of God that is written in the Bible today.

@revgen So? Other people have died for humanity! What about the USA military? Should I worship them because they died for me?

@OP This is.. more plausible than any other theory I have heard.

Also, what if their is an afterlife, but "god" isn't the right god?
What if there are many gods and the "god" we know is only out there to hurt the other ones?
He did say that he was a envious god...

Yes, friend, and this wicked god teaches his followers to be virtuous, non-judgmental, servants of all walking in humility and forgiveness (granted, most don't, but that's a failing of men in general, and not the teaching given).

I have a problem with the thought process on that one...

whats stopping the third guy from saying 'screw this noise' ?

not a bad theory with the whole duality going on but why is it we can't create the universe around us but two of the first could?

Hey, it was just an idea.
And also, he wasn't really that nice in the OLD testiment...
Maybe old god is not new god?

Fair enough, although people tend to actually be a bit surprised when they look into just how much grace and forgiveness there actually is in the old testament, and how much judgement and wrath there is in the new.

I'll definitely admit there were some very unpleasant aspects commanded in the old testament, but for those who ascribe to the message and claims of the bible, the necessity "for the good of all", etc., can be seen (one of those "can't make an omelet" things, in essence).

Take care.

Already been written and directed, LOL

The bible has been re-written several times by kings and conquers

Christianity was and still is the biggest HOAX ever put together by Man

Its a mind bending/blowing set of events to strike fear into the common people

No, it does not have to make sense as long as some of the fear tactics affect most the population

Once fear it stuck deep within someone's belief or soul it stays and festers for a long time, and the church has the opportunity to mix the message to gain their right to continue the misuse of their religion, I.E. Cult.

Don't get me wrong, positivity is a good thing and religion does offer some, but the corruption and manipulation out-weighs that good which is within churches or religions

To me I think that the religions and churches use the idea of nature, how things in the wild that occur, to their advantages for TPTB to gain power or control over the people with which is right or wrong, there is no right or wrong, living is living, If we are in the right, most animals on earth should have their democrat, socialist, and libritarians, etc....But shockingly, some groups of animals do consist of these natural governments, LOL

We as the children of earth need to come up with better ideas to sustain our lives for a healthier and more loving environment. Our children and future generations are and will be very displeased with our so-called advances in the recent decades, My apologies for not making a bigger difference, but still working hard for a change in my life as well as in yours, Thank you.

Much Love

I don't believe that God, whatever it may be, has ever lied to humanity. However the people who claim to represent God have always had no problem with telling lies and have made a nice financial profit doing it.

I agree with some of what the poster you're responding to said, but think you may have misinterpreted somewhat, or I'll otherwise address both of you here.

I suppose there are some "christians" (in name only) out there who might say or teach along these lines, but they are very wrong for doing so, if they do.

I've always viewed it simply as - we're all going to die anyway. The only lesson I take from christianity is that we're given an option to accept a gift that bypasses that, and if we don't accept this gift, then we just go to a final death and end up with what we were planning to get as non-believers anyway.

Scare tactics as a means of spreading the faith...simply terrible. Paul summed it up well:

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is life eternal in Christ Jesus our lord.

We should all be expecting death as a natural course of life anyway...so I've got no disincentive to reject the gift and take option B.

At they very least I'm feeling a graphic novel with this one.
That latter gets turned into a movie.
Then all the fan boys of the graphic novel vent their nerd rage online over the
fact that the movie is an absolute travesty compared to the graphic novel.
yes yes..........I can see it all now.

hurry up OP you better copyright your idea
some Hollywood screen writer fresh out of ideas might be reading this right now.

Than what about the 9/11 first responders?
What about all the mayrtrs?
What about the countless cases of people dying to save loved ones?

Should we worship them all too?

The point is, If I jumped off of my apartment window right now and said I was doing it for mankind, would you worship me? No, you would not. In fact, suicide is punishible by inprisonment in hell.
