Are other students allowed to form "student groups?" While it seems the article is polishing the "symbols" angle pretty hard, it does also mention that the university is barring Muslim students from forming a student group. This, to me, would seem to be the core of the violation. I'm also curious though, why it's terribly hard to just respect members of the student body, who are asking for a space without icons to perform their religious practice. Can't be terribly hard to just pick a room and take down the picture of the pope.

Is there a "Check your religion at the door, this is wafer-land!" sign or something?

Does the university not have a spare room they can just remove an icon or three from?

We're not exactly looking at world-shattering stuff here, the innate ATS frothing hatred of Muslims notwithstanding. "Could you please accomodate us, as your students" isn't exactly controversial.

It has nothing to do with your self diagnosis of hate.
They are enrolled, of their own free will, at a Christian based private school.
If they want a room to themselves, ask.
If denied, time they found their own place outside of the school.

This idea of accommodating all, all the time by giving up your own rights is just wrong.
