Perfect song for this!

Make this the official song for OWS

Come ride with me
Through the veins of history
I'll show you how god
Falls asleep on the job

And how can we win
When fools can be kings
Don't waste your time
Or time will waste you

No one's gonna take me alive
The time has come to make things right
You and I must fight for our rights
You and I must fight to survive

No one's gonna take me alive
The time has come to make things right
You and I must fight for our rights
You and I must fight to survive

No one's gonna take me alive
The time has come to make things right
You and I must fight for our rights
You and I must fight to survive

I think OWS should co-opt Holiday in Cambodia by The Dead Kennedys...

So you been to school
For a year or two
And you know you've seen it all
In daddy's car
Thinkin' you'll go far
Back east your type don't crawl

Play ethnicky jazz
To parade your snazz
On your five grand stereo
Braggin' that you know
How the 'n-word's feel cold
And the slums got so much soul

It's time to taste what you most fear
Right Guard will not help you here
Brace yourself, my dear…
Brace yourself, my dear…

It's a holiday in Cambodia
It's tough, kid, but it's life
It's a holiday in Cambodia
Don't forget to pack your whites

You're a star-belly sneech
You suck like a leach
You want everyone to act like you
Kiss ass while you bitch
So you can get rich
But your boss gets richer off you

Well you'll work harder
With a GUN in your back
For a bowl of rice a day
Slave for soldiers
Till you starve
Then your head is skewered on a stake

Now you can go where people are one
Now you can go where they get things done
What you need, my son…
What you need, my son…

Is a holiday in Cambodia
Where people dress in black
A holiday in Cambodia
Where you'll kiss ass or crack

Pol Pot, Pol Pot, Pol Pot, Pol Pot,
Pol Pot, Pol Pot, Pol Pot, Pol Pot...

And it's a holiday in Cambodia
Where you'll do what you're told
A holiday in Cambodia
Where the slums got so much soul

Pol Pot!

I read from updates that he is awake, and is Lucid.

Scott Olsen, the Iraq war veteran who suffered serious head injuries after being hit by a projectile fired by police during the Occupy Oakland protests, has woken up and is lucid as he awaits surgery, hospital officials and family members have said.

Olsen "responded with a very large smile" to a visit from his parents,

I do certainly hope, that people from Oakland do not let this go and demand the Mayor resign or Can she be forced to resign?

There should not be an internal investigation, carried out by the Police themselves, but an independent investigation, so this will not be a cover up or biased. It will infuriate citizens in the US even more if there is not one.

What a bunch of hypocrites. You all scream about upholding the constitution and here is a bunch of malcontents that were told the ordinance, which was created by constitutionally elected officials, didn't allow over night stays in the park.

Actually the "ordinance" was unconstitutional to begin with. FACT.

Your on the wrong side of the revolution.

How in the world did you let yourself get so brainwashed by the big corp. and big banks?

You threatened the Marine Corps and disrespected them after all they try and do for you?
edit on 27-10-2011 by LoneGunMan because: (no reason given)

Uh, no, I didn't threaten anyone, especially the Marine Corps. A true Marine knows the code of honor, and if you go out into public and disrespect the uniform by rioting in the streets it is a dishonor to both the uniform and nation you swear to protect and defend.

And if you look, you will see that big corporations are bankrolling protesters.

And I stand on the patriotic side of the flag for my country. This battle is one that will end with a strong conservative government. Unlawful rebellion will be stopped. Although I think soon the corporations will tire of it and stop feeding money to the protesters which means that without being paid to riot they will simply go home and get a job.

You sound like a fool....have you been to any of the protests? WTF is paying people to protest against them?

You sound like a good ankle-grabber....then criticize the next guy who refuses to do such. Everyone doesn't grab their ankles like a good little boy, some of us actually fight back.

You're so brainwashed, you fly in here with the, "They should have left when the police asked them too..." bow-out. SInce when? I'd bet you're one of the main ones crying about Liberals want to take away your freedom....when what you stand for indicates you've GIVEN away your freedom.

You're so much of a simp, you don't see what's wrong with standing up for your rights. An officer can come along and tell you to eat dirt and I guess you'd just comply with a smile? Grow a backbone.

I don't believe your right to protest trumps the law or everyone else's rights. I don't believe you have the right to inconvenience me because you are upset and while I will tolerate some of it I expect the authorities to balance everyone's rights.

You are wrong. The constitution allows for peaceful protesting whenever and wherever the protesters see fit. No law that restricts their ability to protest or petition the government is valid. A no "camping" ordinance refers to you going there to camp, not your constitutionally protected right to protest and demonstrate there.

the very first time you allowed your government to push people into "free speech zones" you should have revolted, thrown the entire GOP out of office and removed every seat in congress. but you didn't. You said, oh, that's ok, those stupid protesters are making me wait an extra 15 minutes for my morning Latte. you said no, that's fine, round them up, arrest them, and illegally detain them in a condemned crumbling building in what can only be described as mini-gitmo. You said that was fine, there wasn't enough of them to mean anything.

Now cities all over your country, and the globe, are filling with people demanding accountability from their rogue government, and you actually attempt to justify the constitution being shredded, so you can walk your dog in peace?

you sir don't even deserve citizenship.

It's not like the guy was walking around in his dress blues when the police shot him. He was shot for disobeying police orders, not for being a marine.

Clearly, brutality of any kind is wrong. personally, i hope that the cop responsible gets severely prosecuted. I am doubtful of that though. In the same vane, im doubtful these protests will achieve anything tangible long term. I hope im wrong on both counts.

However, when this guy went out in the streets of Oakland, one of the wildest cities in America, with Cops that literally need to fight like warriors every day just to keep the peace, things like this are bound to happen.

Yes, because firing another round into a group of people trying to help someone bleeding on the floor is "fighting like warriors to keep the peace"

Wisconsin here -

I was born and raised in this young man's hometown, which is where I still reside. He is two years younger than I and though I didn't know him on a personal level (Onalaska is a pretty small town), I know alot of people that DO know him and are outraged. How can something like this happen? I am happy to see, however, that this event has caused the whiplash effect nationwide amongst fellow marines and servicemen alike. The police of this nation need to know where they lay in the food chain. I am in no way advocating violence, but if it takes our servicemen and women coming together to put these sorry sacks of SH** in their place, I'll be proud to stand next to them.

"Bombing for peace is like F***ing for virginity"

I'm out.

And I guess the people who got shot too when they tried to help the bleeding guy on the floor deserved it too because they "disobeyed orders"

Because clearly, helping a bleeding fellow citizen now justifies getting shot. Who needs terrorists if your very own police force is hurting the citizens who use their right of free speech?

It seems to be the norm for police in california to get beyond the "fair and justified use of force" when they feel like it.
Kelly Thomas needs to be remembered as well.

Bludklot, are you the guy that does the commentaries on "Americas wildest police chases", just how your voice comes across, a little bit condescending, and, it's for your own safety that you don't do this.
He had every right to be there, they were not attacking the police.

My thoughts are with the family. It's just a heartbreak that what America has come to is a cowardly socialist regime that lurks in obscurity in the shadows behind the curtain.

It wasn't exactly socialism that hurt this marine...fascism might be the more accurate description...or police state

What a bunch of hypocrites. They decided they didn't like that ordinance and tried to ignore it. Way to support the constitution.

Where in the constitution does it say you can't stay overnight in a park? If an "ordinance" overrides my right to free speech and protest (which is in the constitution) said ordinance is moot.

If you don't like a law or ordinance you elect new officials or seek redress in court.

Been there tried that. You speak as if the unwashed masses have not tried other avenues to address their grievances.

I want to elect the right people to office to gut the federal government, return power to the states and let states sink or swim on their own. The only thing I want the federal government to provide is a top notch, well equipped military to protect us and our interests throughout the world, some basic research in technologies much like the NASA of the 60's/70's that brought us so many great things and a few rules and regulation to keep states from fighting over stupid stuff or creating regulations that harm business and services of other states.

I want that as well. Most of us do. So, why haven't our "constitutionally" elected representatives done what we want? The answer is clear to those with open eyes. We are not ruled by the constitution anymore. The elites rule the day. So, when voting them out and voting new puppets in does not work what other choice does one have other than to take to the streets?

I hate to say it, but the other night I was thinking about this incident and almost.... almost told myself that this movement needs a death before anything will get done..... but sadly its true.
