You see. This is all you're good at.

Trying to pigeonhole someone into your idea what they believe.

I NEVER said YOU were one thing or another. All I am saying is that this movement is predominantly leftist and anti-capitalist.

If that fits you, then fine, stop taking offense to it and own up to it.
Just don't expect to find me at one of your protests.

By the way, just because I'm not a leftist and don't stand with leftist organizations doesn't mean I'm for corporate socialism.

OWS protests in my city too, most of the people i protest with at those protests are...tea partiers...bunch of stinking leftists i guess

To answer the OP:

I don't help because:

1) there is no direction.

2) Communists, Nazis, Code Pink, Bill Ayers, Michael Moore.... pretty much every lunatic on the left endorses this. A man is made by the company he keeps. Those people do not share my values.

3) They're violent. The Tea Party was NEVER violent.

4) I teach at a university in a non-liberal arts program, but my Dean's office is positioned on our campus such that I have to walk down 2 hallways of "CLOSE GITMO!" "BUSH IS EEEEEVIL" "FOX NEWS LIES" and various forms of peace symbols and other nonsense. Walk down my colleagues' hall? Nothing but "turn in your hw here (manilla folder)" I detest activist hippies.

I know where the root of this "movement" is and it's not grass. It's vile, and it's a cancer.

So, that's why.

You know.... a couple of rowdy people occupying a park that they use as a porta potty, and yelling at cops so they can be beaten is not a movement. It's nothing but a theatrical play devised by big corporations, and if anyone would do the homework you would find that a lot of the "protesters" are actually being bankrolled and paid for their so called participation.

There is no movement. It's fake, the whole thing. I laugh every single night when I watch it. It's stuff for the MSM people and the people that listen to them latch onto for glory past, you know, the 1960's. But in the end, it's all a ruse for entertainment purposes.

I'll stay with the real movement which is the Tea Party. You'll see it in action come election day.

Oh, and we don't instigate rebellion and disrespect to our nation, or the police, or other citizens.

I fully support the OWS movement. I don't support the corporate interests behind it.

There's a big difference. I simply remain skeptical of the end result and the agenda, not the real patriots taking part in it.

Your expression of support for the individuals taking part is very much appreciated. I'll also say your qualifications reflect concerns some in the middle of it share.

Thank you as well for that link to the Adbusters blog. It's a tough thing to argue that date when it's on their own site, big as life. Like some others, I hadn't seen that before and it does add a bit of food for thought.

I so much agree with you. You are right on the money. And they do remind me of hippies but I would call them Techno hippies, cause they get paid to protest by big corporations and they all have cameras and cell phones.

Sitting here on my ass does more for the cause then anyone who attends.
If I decide to go, I would end up feeding the cooperate system that the group is against.
Just think of all the ways you used a corporate system to get downtown to protest it, and as everyday drags on, how much profit they are making off of your protesting.
I refuse to feed the one percent as you call it, to protest it.
Boycotts have more power, and sends a stronger message.

The time for discussion and conversation is over as it has gotten us all absolutely nowhere forward but about 10 steps back. This is fact. When more then a dozen people are telling you that you are in fact wrong it is time to step back and re-examine your view upon this and realize once and for all that the majority here are correct and you are the one who is wrong.

So, no more debate, no more differing opinion.

Let's just shut it down because YOU say so. Because your MOB says so.
Yep. Just because ten people are saying something to me doesn't mean they are all correct.
It just means there's a mob of ten people trying to pigeonhole me, like you are, into accepting their way of thinking.

You people are nothing but bullies.

A movement started by anti-capitalist AdBusters, and supported by ideological organizations who's philosophy is incompatible with the US Constitution, is not something I will accept.

Listen, as long as your group is ACCEPTING endorsement from SPUSA, CPUSA, the American Nazi Party(The actual one), and a plethora of radical leftist organizations well, then you're going to continue to receive criticism from people like me.

Like it, or not.
edit on 27-10-2011 by projectvxn because: (no reason given)

dude made it pretty clear in his post you partially quoted that the movement is NOT accepting any endorsements from any party. did you even read it?

It was simply a tactic to draw the opposition in and jump on top of them.

You're not allowed to be against the Holy OWS. Just like you weren't allowed to be against the once Holy Obama.

Because I'm not a communist. I think the only reason our capitalist system isn't working right now is because it has mutated into something corrupt. I wonder if there is really any way to stop this from happening.

I've been day trading for about 5 years, and for 3 of those it was my sole source of income. Having done that: the game is certainly fixed, and the deck is absolutely stacked against the guy on the street.

Change needs to happen, certainly, but a bunch of hippies and trust-fund college students (skipping classes mid-semester???? WTF?) protesting in tents is NOT going to fix it.

This is forever the problem, people being quick to defend their idealogies without actually doing any reading and only see what they want to see.

Dude is trying to say Socialist or Communist groups speak for us when reality is that we only speak for ourselves.

Thanks for the confidence. Star for you!

I was at the Tea Party protests. I will not support a socialist movement backed by Soros. I might as well vote for Obama if I did that.

Reading? Well, you are clearly reading the liberal script. I have found numerous articles online recommending nationalizing the Fed and the banks. It is a Democrat agenda, not Ron Paul agenda. Ron Paul wants to abolish the Fed, not nationalize it.

For one thing, we have a mixed economy, but yah what passes for Capitalism is a perversion and not true free enterprise.

Abolishment leaves us without a system in place, nationalization erases foreign and outside control. By simply abolishing it leaves the door open to allow privatization of it, nationalization outright bans that.

Look at the following stats :
1791–1811: First Bank of the United States - Nationalized!
1811–1816: No central bank - None!
1816–1836: Second Bank of the United States - Privatized!
1837–1862: Free Bank Era - Nationalized!
1846–1921: Independent Treasury System - Nationalized!
1863–1913: National Banks - Nationalized!
1913–2013: Federal Reserve System - Privatized!
2013 - forever - Nationalized central bank!

It's not just corporations, its the Obama admin and the DSA. DSA even carried signs and marched at NY. Liberal Democrats like Pelosi and Reid and Watters are members of DSA also. It should be obvious now what the whole agenda is and has been, and was and is in Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, and Algeria. The Unions are backing the movement. The Communist Party is backing it, CPUSA and other communist groups, the Working Families Union, SEIU, ACORN, Soros and Tides.
The list of demands is Democrat Agenda.

Well, since you asked,

I simply don't share the desire to control the top 1%, or their wealth. I'm just not generally a very controlling person.

I never liked the economic slavery system that most people I know are stuck in. In fact, after trying it out for a few years, I discovered that I hated it. So I found another way. I work for myself, I do what I love for a living, and I make more than enough to make ends meet. And that was my solution.

I can't speak for the others who call themselves the 99%; their paths are not my path. I'm not judging them, for it is not my place to. I can only speak for myself and my situation. I taught my mom how to do what I do, and I'm currently teaching my wife. In the future, I'll teach my son. This is my version of protesting.

Now the Vatican is calling for a Central World Bank and a One World Currency. Obama is getting ready to facilitate turning over our national economic sovereignty to the UN and One World Bank, I guarantee it, by convincing Congress to Nationalize the Banks, or since he knows there are still Patriots in Congress, he will just do an EO as he has already told the world that he will act without Congress. He has been saying it in his campaign speeches but he leaves it open to the imagination of the people, who think that he is doing something great, but he's treasonously turning over our country to the NWO. But if it makes you feel better, some things McCain has done make me think he would do the same thing as a bandaid to the "crisis" which the NWO manufactured. I bet Romney would do the same, in case you think I am just being partisan, no I am being PATRIOT!

If they are Tea Party, they likely carry different signs than the typical NY OWS. Read the signs. I'd love to hear what your Tea Party friends are saying because it's not the same as OWS. I know because I am Tea Party.
