I hope that man presses charges against the offending officers. That was pure brutality right there and justifiably called so.

Having said that please do not condemn ALL police as brutal, the heroes should not be thrown in with that thug in a uniform.

Time we do some citizen arrests on those flithy cops !!
and exchange them for protesters who were arrested

We will ask the same thing Israel asked to have their soldier back .. 1000 in exchange

Lets arrest 1 cop and ask the 1000 arrested protester to be release
this way need to start or soon .. no more protesters will be remaining .. everyone will get arrested soon
100 per days .. until there is 0 protesters

and we know they have a lot of Fema camps ready to put US citizens in it

This is the kind of intimidation that I was referring to in the OWS survey result thread

Violence is indeed unnecessary, but there is this intimidation factor that can easily be a cataclysm for violence.

If anything, let's not give into this *bait* as I would normally say, but then again we are just humans and if something ain't right it's got be sat right.

I don't usually condone violence, but there are really a lot things I would do to that officer to set matters straight.

If anything throwing a canister back at the police will have been a fair call...damn it..

I saw no evidence of any violence on the part of the people assembled there, a few harsh words maybe, but no violence. The officer on the loadspeaker gave the warning then they turned loose the chemical agents. Seems to me the police were the only violent ones there.

This is disgusting behaviour, he knew what he was doing and intentionally tried to harm unarmed protesters coming to the aid of an injured man.

WTF is wrong with these animals? Police Officers.....

Something needs to be done.

Everyone of these thugs.... each and every one caught on camera should be charged and jailed and lose their badge.... there is no excuse for the behaviour that is being displayed by these assholes.

Just disgusting, cowardly and sadistic.

While this is disgusting, let us not forget a simple fact.

Not all cops are fascist thugs. In fact in many of the protests around the US the cops have refused orders to disperse the protesters.

some cops are wired hot and looking for a reason.
Some protestors are there for the wrong reasons and WANT violence to erupt

The violence is coming from both sides. The difference being those cops are supposed to protect citizens and their rights, one of which is to peacefully assemble, protest, and petition their government.

It IS attempted murder..

I'm sure that one, douchebag thought it was funny to throw it into the gathering crowd..But would it have really been funny if he ended up killing someone? Then consequently (if justice was served) get put in prison?

Somehow, I don't think he would be laughing so much if all of that had happened..which luckily for him, it didn't.

What a moron.

Seeing this video just pisses me off.

OWS is a NWO strategy to disrupt and bring down the American economy, freedom and spirit... Van Jones, George Soros and other left wing groups are using the protests, challenging capitalism to trigger a revolution for a new american communist or socialist society. This is well known to people who can read between the lines.

So.... good on the cops for dispersing them, only one got hit in the head, it's not that a bigger deal.

Honestly people need to open their eyes.... OWS is nothing but a strategy by the same people controlling Obama on his mission to destroy America. Stop supporting your own demise....

The former New York office for ACORN, the disbanded community activist group, is playing a key role in the self-proclaimed "leaderless" "Occupy Wall Street" movement, organizing "guerrilla" protest events and hiring door-to-door canvassers to collect money under the banner of various causes while spending it on protest-related activities.

i am a veteran, and this is not what i fought for! the national guard should be deployed to protect the people from the police. this has been done before.

The obvious point to me is that there has been a coordinated effort to put the squeeze on OWS nationwide. The Oakland police clearly felt empowered to use excessive force to that end. I really want to know where this coordinated effort came down from. HLS? DOJ? My best guess, HLS who views everyone as a possible terrorist.

I dont see how anyone can watch this video, and not get pissed in some way. Its against the law to, prevent first aide to someone hurt, Hell even the Germans during WW1 and WW2 reconized this, its not just a law, but a moral obligation to attend to the hurt and dieing without being shot at. WTF would happen if a cop, was laying there hurt, I can guarantee, that protesters would have also come to the aide of a police officer in the same situation. Makes my blood boil, now i need to calm down, and go shoot some ammo, peace lol

Duh, it's obvious some OWS guys put on police uniforms to infiltrate the cops and be agent provocateurs, like, how can you not see it yeah??

--- sarcasm..

fu*tuttie fruit*ing sickning... these PEACE officers are using violent means against you knowing they will have the law on their side and anything you do in retaliation will be taken as an act of aggression.

That fence has fallen people. You cant sit on it anymore.

jesus...

and for anyone saying this is a one off, well... this is one on camera, off... right.. do not think this is not happening every day, all the time...

What was it, 12 acting or ex NYC cops today were busted for being criminals, selling guns and sh.. to criminals? the max the ACTING pig gets is 10 years... he's 47. Be out before 60 - retirement age.

they were caught claiming "if you want someone taken down who annoys you, we can do it... We have cops with guns and vests." -- really? only 12 were caught?

Law and ENFORCEMENT are two separate things. one is lawful, the other is a gang.

these ... i give up, I can do nothing where I live, but ....

peacefully protest. This is what your asking for...

Since it is not shown in the video, your allegations of lawless protestors, we can only take your word for it, but let's take that word as true. If there were protestors throwing rocks and bottles, (violently no less), at police officers then those individuals should have been dealt with.

Advocating the wholesale disregard for everyone's rights because a few acted criminally is boneheaded. Such an argument is akin to suggesting that because a Black man, or a Jew or an Indian Chief committed a crime, all Black people, Jews, and Indian Chief's should be prosecuted for this crime. That is not the rule of law, that is arbitrary knee jerk reaction.

I have both agreed with your posts, disagreed with your posts or stood in amazement at just how level headed you are in them at all times.

This is one where I am so in agreement with you I won't just nod my head or rumble up the nouse to try and engage your post.

You sir, are an asset to ATS.

I wish I knew you in real life, I'd have likely bypassed a few things which have come to pass.

Kudos, mr old avatar!!!

Too bad they didn't have a hockey player or someone with quick reflexes kick that flash bang puck back under the gate into the cop crowd.

They can dish it out but they I doubt they could take it themselves.

I have zero respect for bullies and cowards and the average LEO is both. Don't give me the few bad apples line 90% of the barrel is bad. The idealists and kids out of the acadamy account for the other 10%

the whole OWS movement is scam and plan to instill a new law set for the people.

seems almost too easy

Start a small movement and give it national attention, make it appeal to the middle-lower classes and the youth you think they can make a change. Let them protest unadverted for a few weeks to let it catch on nationally and globally. Use the police which ironically enough are in teh same pay bracket as most of the protesters (the ones who work actually). The plotters had to know that mixing the youth with the police will create tensions. then all they need to do is mix a few trouble makers in with the ows crowd and tell the cops to regulate the masses and you have the potential for confrontations. Then you just sit back and wait until the public begs for help, then BOOM Martial law.

I am living in a third world country, I am a licensed nurse, Graduated in a community college here in the Philliphines, no job or health care and unfortunately I was diagnosed with heart problems. I have no money for healthcare. Im still dependent to my parents. The prices of food and medicine here is going up rapidly like a hyperinflation. My government (puppet) is ignorant and conspire with oligarchs.Speculation here in basic commodities is so rampant like in the wallstreet. I am 1 of the 99%

I will fight OLIGARCHY

Even if this is a plan to put Martial Law into effect, there is still a way to take this opportunity and make it "the change we want to see in the world." If we can take an incident like this, show it to the world, and remain peaceful in our protest than who do you think the world will support? This is beginning to look like the civil rights movement... and what did it take for that movement to be noticed??? Violence.. It's when the police were violent towards PEACEFUL demonstrators that the populace started to see the movement for what it really was. So take this incident and use it! Use it as fuel to spread the news that it's time for this world to change... It's what Scott would want. Why do you think he was out there protesting?

Please...reprimand? Thats a joke. Cops only comprehend 2 things, brute force or a lawsuit. Cops that violate rights should be terminated and prosecuted, but in this police state nation they cover up cop crimes and excuse disgusting and illegal conduct all the time. You CANNOT rely on cop superiors to protect the people...they are as guilty as their underlings and agree with them, not US!

Until the people are willing to fight the cops tooth and nail with whatever means are available, we will continue to see outrageous abuses continue.

Just more examples of Fascist mind sets. Now they use tear gas and pyrotechnics just to disperse, that used to be reserved for rioters, Shame! It should be time to let your elected representatives know what you think.

Oakland is always such a front for sadistic police and unnecessary force. You always hear about Oakland. Oscar Grant, the man that was shot in the back while handcuffed, at a subway station with about 100 witnesses and video (remember that) was in Oakland. Then before the obvious uproar even started, they organized an enforcement of the streets.

The place is such a dump.

There are probably TONS of bad apples throughout the Oakland area PD, especially those on riot control. These people are obviously getting their rocks off on this, and they're trying to provoke escalating violence.

Most of the protests in Oakland are kids, college students, young activists. But one of these times, Oakland PD is going to push too far on the wrong crowd, and they're going to run up against a wall of hurt. If some of these cops don't get beaten bloody during their time in the force, from anyone, then there is no justice.

This sort of callousness makes my blood boil! This guy serves two tours in Iraq thinking he's fighting for our freedom and this is what he comes home to? Sad to say but this really illustrates the fact that our troops are not fighting for freedom but for international banksters and politically connected corporate interest. Of Course this Marine probably already knew this to some degree since he was a member of veterans for peace and the fact he was at the protest. As more returning veterans become victims of this sort of tyranny or watch others suffer at it's hands something will have to give eventually.
