Watch the video!!!!

This is your mealy mouthed defense of thuggery? "Watch the video"? Every individual that acts criminally should be held accountable for their crimes. Innocent people causing no harm are not responsible for the crimes of others and there is no lawful and reasonable justification for abrogating and derogating the rights of innocents just because a few acted criminally.

I have an awsome idea. Everyone that goes to an occupy event. Get some people to bring painball guns. With rainbow coloured paintballs, or something awesome like hot pink. They all wear masks. Usually full face gear and shields. Spray them down with hot pink paintballs.

Turn their black stormtrooper armor into the latest fasion crazy. It would be rather Humiliating, don't you think?

And not to mention, its not really violent in the least
, they're already wearing the gear for it!

It is unfortunate that it happened, and the police were being scum, but I have seen far far worse done by those who we pay to protect us. I have seen so so many videos of cops being bullies, and literally beating people pulpless, many times for not even doing something wrong. They want us to be afraid of them so that they can control us. It is sad and disgusting that they think that they are above the law. The worst part is that they really ARE above the law!

I have seen corruption first hand, and have even witnessed a murder, then watched the police ignore it so that they wouldn't have to deal with it. I have a feeling that we Ain't seen nothin' yet. Scary indeed.

The video from the OP clearly shows that the people were simply trying to help the downed protester, and the flashbang was tossed at their feet.

The cops were in no danger. Therefore, the action taken by the officer was in violation of the code of conduct.

Even if other people in another video were throwing objects at the police, the OP's video shows that this was not one of those times.

I agree that we have to hold violent protesters accountable, but we have to hold the police accountable as well when they act as this officer did.

The protesters were already breaking the law by staying over night.
They were told to leave and that they can return in morning.
They were all guilty of breaking the law, not innocent.

The cops who are BEING TOLD that they have to disperse this crowd
are doing THERE JOB!
People started acting violently and throwing projectiles
at them. Police responded back with tear gas.

End of story

Not much to see here other than a protest being dispersed, everyone is entitled to there own opinion, move the bums along and point them to the nearest job centre. The Occupy movement is proving to be a waste of time. Left wing nuts with no idea of how their county has become so strong, communism and socialism no thanks....

Thank god my local police sent the uni students back to school. Local businesses were losing money.

By throwing a flashbang at the feet of people trying to help a fellow person, who if they did not help him, he would probably be in much worse conditions?

If they had left that guy there, instead of getting him to a hospital asap. He would have been arrested, and thrown in the back of a truck. And he probably would have died. And you think it wouldn't happen. But it does.

There is no Constitutional authority, neither federal nor state, that authorizes any government official to dictate the times of peaceable protest. "Staying over night" is not a crime!

They were told to leave and that they can return in morning.

Are you presenting this as evidence of the benign tyranny being imposed upon people? Benign tyranny is still tyranny.

They were all guilty of breaking the law, not innocent.

The best you can do to support this contention is come up with some silly curfew ordinance, which may or may not exist, the burden of that proof is on you, but do not waste your time. The only possible way a curfew can be lawful is if there is a compelling interest that shows that people out at a certain time causes a clear and present danger to the rest of the community.

Legislation is not law, at best, it is merely evidence of law, at worst it is criminal.

The cops who are BEING TOLD that they have to disperse this crowd

The United States, in Nuremberg, hung Nazi soldiers who used the same defense. Those police officers do not have any obligation, nor any duty to act unlawfully.

are doing THERE JOB!

Those thug gang member police officers took an oath of office (apparently with their fingers crossed hidden behind their backs) to uphold the law, and protect and defend the Constitutions of which give them the authority to enforce the law. It is not their job to deny and disparage peoples rights. That act is criminal.

People started acting violently and throwing projectiles at them. Police responded back with tear gas.

As I have stated, those acting criminally should be held accountable for their crimes. Police doing the same thing is not justice, it is criminal. If police cannot distinguish between the innocent and the guilty they have no business being police officers.

Yes indeed, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but when people hold the opinion they are above the law and do not need to honor the oath of office they took, then acting upon that opinion is criminal. That is the law. Ignorance of the law is no excuse.

Thanks for the video Pops. These pawns have machine hearts and machine minds. They will be removed by the people! They provide no peace for anyone except the elite.

Don't worry too much because the people will rise.

Peace to you

Regardless of whether or not you agree with the OWS protestors, you have to admit that in the OP's video, they were trying to help a downed companion and were tear gassed for it. For no legitimate reason. If we let even one instance of this slide, then we are legitimizing the police using their power unduly in any situation, against anyone, including yourself. It's like that Martin Niemoller quote:

"First they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for me
and there was no one left to speak out for me."

Regardless of ideology, we need to unite behind civil and human rights and denounce these sorts of actions by the supposed law enforcement who are breaking the law!!!

Yes there is ... get to know them INTIMATELY like this ...

And PERSONALLY like this ... [ The image of resistance?, (thread by serbsta posted on 18-8-2009 @ 01:14 AM , post by audas posted on 18-8-2009 @ 06:26 PM) [ATS] + pg1 [same ATS thread]

The Irish situation is a personal one, a community ravaged by conflict inflicted upon them by centuries of meddling from England - the Irish are, to me, a very personal people, private - but personal and take matters seriously and personally - this photo says to me - "I know who you are - I see your face" - its almost as if if is about to say - "You're Sean O'Donnell" - and that would be terrifying in Ireland -

For those Americans posting on this thread who as usual have no idea of the struggle for life which goes on around the world, usually at the hands of white Anglo / American oppressors, perhaps you should so some research into why Ireland is split, why there are protestants in the North and how it came to be - when China takes over your country and treats you like Stalins peasants you might understand why centuries later you would still be resisting the oppression -

"Nutjob" protesters indeed - Ignorance knows no bounds.

Personal Disclosure: Maybe it is time to occupy these cops sheltered neighbourhoods and suburbs and find the bottlenecks in and out using google earth and peacefully let them know that 'we' the faceless public masses KNOW WHERE THEY LIVE and take there kids to school etc.

The above quote should read

That cop doesn't deserve to wear that badge.

so much for a free country when you are told wether you are allowed to protest or not and what time you must go home.

at the end of the day i think the people will decide on wether they agree with that 'order' or law.

Funny how you pick and choose which questions to answer and not answer.

Some have brought up very good points, and you conveniently scroll right past.

The problem with your statement, and a 5 year old with half a brain can tell you this after watching the video and reading reports from those there, is that the people the cop threw a flash grenade at were NOT throwing rocks or acting violently. You simply saw what you wanted to see, and ignore the rest.

The military vet shot in the face with a rubber bullet was not acting violently or throwing objects.

The women and children both shot with rubber bullets, and suffering through 3+ tear gas rounds, were not acting violently.

The wheelchair bound women stuck in a cloud of tear gas after multiple rounds were fired off, was not protesting violently.

Breaking curfew does not deserve rubber bullets, tear gas and flash grenades. What kind of asinine reasoning makes you think that behavior by the cops is alright?

I never believed in any curfew myself. Not for a free people- I'm a nightowl.
I'm not gonna hold that against anyone, esp. not w/punishment being gassed or shot.
Crazy to me that anyone would be ok with that.

OWS is a NWO strategy to disrupt and bring down the American economy, freedom and spirit... Van Jones, George Soros and other left wing groups are using the protests, challenging capitalism to trigger a revolution for a new american communist socialist society. This is well known to people who can read between the lines.

So.... good on the cops for dispersing them, only one got hit in the head, it's not that a bigger deal.
