What is the real reason behind the NWO. It obviously includes the economic collapse and martial law, among other things. But the real goal is far beyond all this. Are aliens going to come and feed off our energy, are the Muslims and Christians right about the dajjal/antichrist and all that, is the illuminati going to take a step back and say "we did it, yeaaa buddy", can we even imagine what the true purpose is?

My theory is that they want to instigate global war for profit.

Considering the current state of affairs, war is in the foreseeable future. I'd be willing to bet that in order to prevent civil war from increasing protests against the status quo, the US would move on Iran. Though that could easily turn into a much larger conflict involving NATO against the Middle East (minus Israel), China and Russia. Whether or not this is the intent of TPTB is entirely up to speculation, but it's no doubt that a NWO would literally wipe Israel off the map.

I believe the the ancient middle eastern accounts are true and that taken as a whole lead me to think that the utter destruction of 'Gods" work is what they are after

that's my opinion as well ,supernatural forces have to be propelling this forward because as you say quite simply it isn't like us
