Do you even realize his political leanings from his own work previous to making movies? Did you know he was the editor of Mother Jones Magazine and refused to publish an article that was critical of the Sandinistas because he was supportive of them?

Mother Jones Magazine was founded by the woman Mary Harris Jones who was a member of several political parties including the American Socialist Party. Yes, he believes in Marxism, he is working hard to usher it in.

When the Socialists come in to power, who do you want to rule over you? The people are not going to rule at all, the State is. So who do you want to rule over you? Are you willing to allow one dictator and only one party to tell you how to live every moment of your life? There is no Constitutional Rights in Socialism. So you won't even be able to complain about your lack of freedom. Are you really ready for that?

I live in the Great Pink North...which so many Americans regard as socialist due to evils like universal health care. While I hold my American cousins in high esteem, ain't no way I'd swap. Mind you, I have also subscribed to Mother Jones .

Canada also has Elizabrth II as their queen. It is ok that you have your opinions about the United States, which is definitely a benefit, but would you feel comfortable having a country as big as this for a neighbor that is powerful and Socialist?

While you may have universal health care, you have to admit that it does not help everyone when the help is needed, and it is getting harder to treat people. In fact, my best friend in Ontario has to drive 7 hours away to have a routine office visit. That is because there is no neurologist available in her town and yet she was promised health care. I have another friend who waited 5 years for an operation in her ear to alleviate progressive hearing loss. She was promised health care. So you can't tell me it works for everyone.

So now let's look at some variables in the health care system. Suppose tomorrow, all the population is suddenly given health care, would we have enough doctors to handle this problem? No, we would not and it would flood the system. Now suppose you went to your doctor all your life and you like your doctor and have a good relationship with your doctor, but the government tells you now that you have to go to another one, and you can't be treated with the same care and your cancer will be treated in a few years. How is that beneficial?

In this country, we do not really have a lack of health care, but politicians will tell you that we have lack of insurance. We have health clinics that are low cost, but you get treated and according to the Hill-Burton Act, if you go to an emergency room for treatment, you will get it, even if they have to send you to another because the other has better facilities. But you will be treated if you need it. The problem here is with the insurance, because some insurance companies don't want to spend for people to be treated, but there are ways to be treated.

It may not work for everyone here either, but we acknowledge there is a problem, we don't hide our heads in the sand and say we have the best when we know that we don't. Unlike Canada.

I have said many times, it is not free...it is supported by my taxes. Oh, and a pay about $400 a year on a specific health tax. That's just fine...I don''t mind paying taxes, they are not onerous for what we receive. Our standard of living is at least as good as yours, possibly better given that the shenanigans your bankers pulled would have them in jail up here. My cancer was cured for $32 out of pocket...parking fees at the hospital.

Again...I wouldn't swap but I'm not about to turn this into another one of those threads, so that's my last word on that topic.

If we were to switch to Socialism, the austerity measures to pay off the mega debts of the banks (derivatives) would be set into high gear, TAXES would sky rocket and everything would be paid to the banksters. They are already doing this under the chrony-capitalist system we have now, we need to revert back to TRUE CAPITALISM and find a way to write off these debts that WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO BE PAID BACK IN THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE! $1,500+ TRILLION, how in the world will that ever be paid back? And that is not the people's debt, it is the IMF, Federal Reserve and their affiliate Bank's debt, NOT THE PEOPLES! SAY NO TO BANK AUSTERITY!

That is not necessarily true. If we the people revolted, and set up a truly worker controlled economy, we would take over the banks and all the debt would be non-existent.

Money and dept is an illusion created by the artificial scarcity of resources.

Back during the Presidential race of 2004, I was shocked when Michael Moore said he was endorsing (of all folks) Wesley Clark for President. Wesley Clark, a 4 star General known to have committed human rights violations in Kosovo, Wesley Clark who managed to write 2 books: "Waging Modern Wars" and "Winning Modern Wars". So there is Micheal Moore the (supposed) voice for Democratic values/beliefs....endorsing Wesley Clark for President. So I said to myself..."there has got to be something wrong with him, I just don't know what it is". Well, a couple of years later I happened upon an article online and then his endorsement made sense.....

PS: Dennis Kucinich in 2004 had already submitted a bill to Congress for NOT for PROFIT Healthcare but at that time Michael Moore said nothing about the need for Not for Profit Healthcare. Then, in 2008 about 3 days before his movie SICKO was going to be released he is in a photo op on the frontpage of the newspaper thanking Dennis for submitting a bill for NforP Healthcare. Let's see...was Michael Moore actually using Dennis Kucinich to promote his movie?....I don't doubt it...given the fact that Michael Moore trashed Dennis on his website for voting "not present" on a bill which at first glance made it look like Dennis was not opposed to the Iraq war. What really happened is that the bill included verbage that stated if you voted YEA you were supporting what George Bush was doing regarding Iraq. Since Dennis did not support Bush, he decided to vote "not present".
The amazing thing is, the page trashing Dennis was still on Michael Moores website at the time he was thanking Dennis on the front page of the newspaper........

I think people are more worried about the odour created because Moore has found yet another band wagon to jump on and will exploit - don't be surprised if he makes a film about this to add to his own pile. Is that something to criticise? Depends on your point of view, if the opportunity is there, why not take it, but don't put yourself as a victim while scamming the money.
