I have figured it out. Actually it dawned up me when we last interacted in this thread. You, for whatever whacky reason, have a crush on Rice. That's fine, but she should never be president. She is a proven liar and warmonger. Oh wait, that means she would make a great president.

That is all I need to remember about her honesty. What a shock that all these years later she really wanted to do the right things but no one listened. Too bad she did not think of her values and doing the right thing in that hearing. Instead she sat there and lied. I am sure the book is all true though.

Since you mentioned 30 Rock, I have to ask. How did you like seeing her play the ex lover of such a dirty liberal as Alex Baldwin? From the sound of this thread, that really hurt.

I KNOW what the title of the memo was. Did you really miss my point? I feel confident everyone else that read my post understood I was pointing out how she lied about the fact that she had no idea Bin Laden was determined to attack inside the United States, it never crossed her mind, even after she read that memo that was titled JUST THAT.

Hmmm. Well the lie you posted in that thread is still there. In fact it is in a couple threads. The proof I asked for is nowhere to be found. You get an apology when you back up your claim.

No Condi didn't lie about Iraqi WMD or anything else. She honestly reported on the basis of CIA and military intelligence that over-estimated Saddam's WMD capability and stockpiles but nevertheless it was true that Saddam threatened to develop and produced WMD. He had used chemical WMD on Iraqi Kurds. Condi was right and honest to warn of Saddam's danger as regards WMD.

It is not a lie to point out that few in the US suspected such a thing would happen. If the FBI, FAA or the airlines had suspected this was possible they ought to have prevented it, right?

Sure it looks obvious to us now looking back but it was not obviously a danger to many others back then. Maybe some guessed but not enough thought it would happen to prevent it. Certainly neither the executive nor the legislature branch of government nor the military were seized of the possibility were they?

It takes more than a few people with a good imagination to see this possible threat before there is enough pressure to make the changes to prevent such a thing happening.

The basic physics of the 9/11 attacks have been the same since the construction of large airplanes. It could have happened not only in 2001 but 1991 or 1981 or 1971 yet for many years no-one hijacked a big passenger plane and flew it into a skyscraper killing thousands. Anyone could have but no-one did. Hence most people got complacent and never gave the idea a second thought.

Condi could have said all that in her answers given time but when you are being grilled by Congress you only have time for a few sentences to answer a particular question and then people like you jump on partial answers as "lies". Nonsense. Condi is truthful. She is a very honest and reliable person.

She did do the right thing at that hearing. She sat there and told as much of the truth as there was time to tell. If you want the full truth that is what the book is for.

Cards on the table. I am a Scottish republican socialist political activist who lives off welfare.

So many American liberals are probably not sufficiently for a high-taxing American welfare state for my liking. I think people should get a free health service at the time of need, free housing if unemployed or sick. I just don't think people should be put out on the streets with nothing. For one thing, that's where I would be.

So I don't support Condi for the conservative low-tax anti-entitlement viewpoints that most American republicans hold to. I am not sure that Condi is as hard-hearted as many in the GOP and I'll tell you why.

I do support Condi for president precisely because of her leadership abilities for dealing robustly with the likes of Saddam and Al Qaeda and for her compassionate conservatism in helping the poor of the world such as treating and preventing AIDS and malaria in Africa, girls education, feeding the starving and all the great works that America does for the less advantaged in the world.

This keeps coming up and I try to explain to people that this is as useful as a memo entitled

"Bank Robbers Determined to Rob Banks Inside the United States"

Yes, no doubt bank robbers like terrorists want to do what it is they do but any such memo to the National Security Advisor (Rice) or to the President (Bush) is of no use in stopping bank robber X robbing bank Y, nor Bin Laden's men X attacking target Y.

If the memo doesn't tell you the X & Y then it is of no use.

She got all of that wrong. She knew what she was doing was wrong and that was why she lied about it in that hearing and now she has a book where she blames everything on everyone else. Which really have nothing to do with her. In America's history, the "great works" it does for the world have mainly been done without Condi having any thing to do with it. I would also contend many parts of the world prefer a different term than "great' works.

Condi never said they didn't know Bin Laden was determined to attack in the USA

Condi never said anything to the contrary. She never lied.

Condi's point was the memo never said who Bin Laden's terrorists were nor how and when they would attack. It was not a hot tip off that they could send the police around to arrest the terrorists before or in the act. It was historical information.

If it had hot tip off information in it, then it should have gone straight to the FBI for action.

If you knew of a terrorist attack planned you would not only send a memo to the president, you would most likely contact the police, right?

Or do you think the USA should do away with 911 calls and any police emergency should be dealt with by a memo to the NSA & president?

Well Saddam's body is with the worms and Bin Laden's is with the fishes and that's the best place for them, in my opinion.

Condi saved us and most of the people of Iraq from Saddam. She put Al Qaeda on the back foot for Obama to move in for the kill.

Condi is the new messiah of this age. She doesn't claim the Bush administration was perfect in every decision but she got us there in the end.

Now the whole Arab region is undergoing a democratic spring kicked off thanks to her transformational diplomacy in the region, the soft power 2nd Bush-term Secretary Rice equivalent of the hard power of the Iraq and Afghan invasions done in the 1st Bush-term as NSA Rice.

Condi is a prophet of freedom of no less significance historically than someone like Moses was in his time.
