We got what we wanted

or

someone higher up told us to pull out.

If you are pretty cynical and think that our troops basically serve at the whim of some shadow government, then these are the most obvious reasons troops would leave an area. It doesn't make that much sense, but then we aren't necessarily dealing with sensible people.

There are a lot of sensible reasons for the pull-out, as it's basically a sensible thing to do. That's probably why Obama promised he would do it. But finding sensibility in our foreign policy and in our military planning is a little like looking for a needle in a haystack. I wish I knew more of what was going on at higher levels! I hate having to guess at why they do what they do.

However, my basic rule is: If it sounds sensible it's probably not the real reason.

Seems after some research:

Is the reason that Obama trying to make good on one of his many broken campaign promises in light of the upcoming elections?

This President is complying with a commitment made by the former President made, on behalf of the country....George W. Bush.

(Mid-document):

Article 24

Withdrawal of the United States Forces from Iraq

Recognizing the performance and increasing capacity of the Iraqi Security Forces, the
assumption of full security responsibility by those Forces, and based upon the strong
relationship between the Parties, an agreement on the following has been reached:
1. All the United States Forces shall withdraw from all Iraqi territory no later than
December 31, 2011.

(Skipping to the last page):

Signed in duplicate in Baghdad on this 17th day of November, 2008, in the English and
Arabic languages, each text being equally authentic.

Yep,

Obama and the M$M will go along with it as "His" bright idea.

If something fails, they can blame Bush anyway !

Why did the US leave Iraq?

Mission accomplished basically.

They got rid of Saddam Hussein, freed his people from his tyrannical dictatorship and had to remain to make sure everything was running smoothly in the aftermath of his ousting.

Our forces were only sent there to free the people and grease the wheels for other countries in the region to have their people rise up against dictators, which we saw with Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Syria.

It was just a bad move to claim it was to remove WMDs that were non existant so that people would accept our role in helping liberate peoples who never knew democracy and that and the ridiculous claim that it was all for oil that people remember and parrot constantly.

Wasn't the removal of our troops because the Iraqi rule of law would be re-established by 1-1-2012? Any soldiers still in Iraq would be subject to Iraqi law and would be there illegally?

They are pulling the troops out because there is a presidential election coming up...

With Osama taken out, and the troops leaving... he will set himself up nicely, as long as some other things fall into place...

Remember when the US flew Ferdinand Marco's out of the Philippines along with all of that nations GOLD and Currency into the US?

They have the same plan for Iraq. They are going to evacuate the "Pro-US" Iraqi's and bring the entire countries Gold/Currency holdings out with them. Supposedly 100,000 Iraqi's are being taken out and brought to the US.

www.americanprogress.org...

The Center for American Progress is pushing the plan.

I'm surprised they haven't done it yet.
