That's pretty much how i feel most of the time mate.

Not about MisterLondon, but things in general.

Tell me not to do it, and provided no one is going to get hurt or suffer in any way because of me, i'll go right ahead and do it while giving the V salute.

By the way, the NAZI's fooled the world into thinking the majority of the war effort was militaristic, when in fact in was always a diversion for the real, long term plan for global dominance...infiltration. Which judging by the way things have gone in the USA during the last two or three decades, is almost complete.

USA is now almost a complete Nationalist Socialist state...have a nice day now, ya hear.

A bit off topic, but you just reminded me of this image I saw some time ago.

Is it in the content of the rocks or is it just Nasa being childish saying ... "Mine, mine, mine".
Let's see what happens.

Just an update. I feel it is something in, or not in, the rocks. If they were looking to gather all of thier trickets, I'm sure I would have heard from them by now.

It's all about the rocks. There is a black market for them, they are government property, and they should be used for science. Heat shields are a dime a dozen (well, not really, but they are known by NASA how to make them thus making researching them less important). Do you guys know how hard it is to get moon rocks now a days?

Two, the force may have been excessive, but there is more to this than it appears I bet ya.

Three, she was trying to sell it. Selling moon rocks for money is bad, especially since it is illegal to do so, and it is government property. Would you all like someone to sell your TV or house without your permission?

Lunar meteorites are typically for sell, not the moon rocks brought back from the Apollo missions. Most Apollo rocks have gone missing that have been given away, and thus it is important to retrieve them.

This is not even a half story, it's a paragraph to a story it seems.
First off what did she, Ms Davis mean when she was quoted as saying:

“It’s very detrimental, very humiliating, all of it a lie.

What's a lie? That she contacted NASA to help find a buyer? I mean, are we supposed to suppose here?

And then she apparently says:

“If you have any thoughts as to how I can proceed with the sale of these two items, please call.”

What two items? I thought it was one rice kernel from the Moon.

This is horrible journalism. Sorry OP. No reflection on you at all.

WHAT?? Government property??
The Moon, a satellite (real or fake) floating around in outer space is owned by NASA/government?

Do the Chinese and Russians have to buy a ticket from NASA when they explore the Moon?

Who owns Mars? Wait, I'll go one better, who owns this asteroid heading our way?

This is ridiculous. And THAT is what's wrong with the Human race and THIS is why, we're screwed!

NO.

If you go to some remote island in the ocean, and mount an expensive expedition to get there, and then collect a few souvenir rocks and dirt to take home with you....those trinkets are yours. You made the effort, you spent the money.

You did NOT lay claim to the island, you explored it for the first time. You don't "own" the island....let's call it "community property"....

There are international treaties in effect that essentially are designating all celestial bodies - planets, moons, asteroids, comets, etc - to be no one's "property" and exempt from claims of "possession" by anyone.

One day, this will become a problem....maybe even this century, in a few decades. If and when there are ever permanent bases, and especially mining activities, with the potential for profits from any of the raw materials obtained.

It occurs to me to mention the continent of Antarctica. It is claimed by no nation, and is not itself a legal entity, as far as I understand it.

Might want to compare the laws regarding bases there, and exploitation of its resources, to what the future holds in space.

I see your point however it does not pertain to this quasi semi- story!

You see, these 'trinkets' weren't stolen. They were given or kept by an astronaut who actually GOT the trinkets himself.

What I think might be more in line to what's going on is: perhaps NASA doesn't want these pieces independently studied and its findings, released to the public.

If NASA wants more rocks (because you're claiming they're a rare commodity) then perhaps when they come back from any one of their Black Op missions, they can request for more rocks.

Incidentally, I heard on one mission alone (Apollo 11?) brought back hundreds of pounds of Moon rocks. So what's a rice-rock to 'em?

Without looking up the full details of that particular incident, and not knowing them....

...this post explains some of the rationale:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Keep in mind that some Lunar material here on Earth was obtained form meteorites. Those have different provenance from the actual Apollo samples.

Any of the official "gifts" that were dispersed to other nations in 1969 and 1972 were encased in Lucite, which made it virtually impossible to ever set them "free". (Ask anyone who is retired Law Enforcement....when they retire, they can have their old badge as a memento, but it must be inside a block of clear plastic - - Lucite).

There are reports of some Lunar material in NASA's possession that has been "snuck out" of the containment facilities, over the last several decades.

THAT is what they are interested in, stopping the black market that can arise in the trading of those samples.

I hear what you're saying. It is what it is but that doesn't mean I have to agree let alone, like it. Which, I don't.

The government has control of everything (once upon a time they were designed to protect their people. Ha!!) Land, roads, trees, produce, parks, beaches, oceans, lakes, space, banks, insurance etc etc etc

And..if the average person isn't sick and tired of it by now then, there's no hope.

"SNUCK OUT"? It was reported in 1979 that someone was stealing moon rocks and NASA inspectors had attitude of "I do not believe it."

Pay special attention to the details here, paragraphs 7 & 8 & 9.

"24.87 pounds of moon samples were in the 'uncertain' category - either unaccounted for or missing."

The actual report in the paper says "an employee working in the Curatorial Facility had reported to the NASA inspector a person was stealing moon material samples and how it was being accomplished." in 1979.

Yeah - no-one belived it at the time. What's so strange about that?

You've never heard of people not believing reports that they find incredulous?

I think yo might have...how about people not believing men landed on the moon??

So that article is just a reason for you to laugh?? Ha. HA.

Well it is good that you can laugh about it. NASA claims to go to the moon for "peace" but we know that was a lie. They went to the moon to "beat the Russians". There is a lot of useful information in this article and I think you are trying to laugh at the reality of what is happenning with moon rocks in 1979.

NASA claims to bring back "about 843" pounds of lunar material, according to this 1979 article. Keep in mind that it is 1979 and 10 years have passed since the first moon landing.

If you do the math, approximately 100 pounds were given out under a NASA sponsored $41 Million dollar grant program.

100 pounds over a span of 10 years. Almost 25 pounds are missing. Go ahead and laugh at it.

"24.87 pounds of moon samples were in the 'uncertain' category - either unaccounted for or missing."

"745.31 pounds remain untouched by the study program have never been fully verified by NASA since being weighed originally after the Apollo flights."

here is a video and in the video they shoe the moon ( rice ) rock.

Nasa moon rock . here is the photo in the video

looks somewhat bigger than a grain of rice. Now granny has a lawyer !

It appears Nasa might have a problem proving it's there rock Legally. Oh well life goes on. Nasa will have to find another way to fund them selfs since they been de-funded.

Peter Schlueter, Davis' attorney, said, "There's no such law that moon rocks belong to the federal government. There are laws about stealing from the federal government and I understand that, and if anybody could show that these moon rocks were stolen from the federal government, that's a horse of a different color, but they haven't shown that."

-------------

Nasa Raid

The affidavit states authorities believed Mrs Davis was in possession of stolen government property but so far they have not publicly revealed any proof.

'I have a real moral problem with what's happened here in California,' Mr Gutheinz said. 'I've always taken the position that no one should own an Apollo-era moon rock. They belong to the people. But if we did such a poor job of safeguarding [lunar samples], I cannot fault that person.' About 2,200 samples of lunar rocks, core samples, pebbles, sand and dust - weighing about 840 pounds - were brought to Earth by NASA's Apollo lunar landing missions from 1969 to 1972. A recent count showed 10 states and more than 90 countries could not account for their shares of the grey rocks.

You take a shell from the beach. It is your property. The moon is not NASA's property. The rocks that they had huge expenses to bring back on the other hand....
