Another interesting thought, but the city would have to enforce the ordinance themselves as the county provides law enforcement for them. OR, they would have to contract the sheriff's department to enforce that ordinance in which the sheriff department would get more income than anyone, if they chose to actually enforce the ordinance.

Thanks for adding this; However, speeding and running stop signs are traffic offenses. Why can't they enfore the existing laws before creating new laws that are not enforced?

I wholeheartedly agree with you. From the blog entry that I posted it seemed like that city government was also interested in better ways to direct and slow traffic in the area. In Wisconsin, bikes technically are considered a "vehicle" on the road and therefore are subject to all traffic requirements as they pertain to speeding, stop signs, etc. Add that to the fact that the town hasn't had an incident with bikes/pedestrians since 2008 and, well, I'm not really sure what they will ultimately end up doing. But, "forcing people to register their travel plans in advance" is not a correct statement in regards to this story
