I actually agree with every point you brought up, because it looks at everything as a whole, and sees the problems with both "sides".

Though the details of your points can probably be nitpicked to death, the underlying argument behind them is very fair and unbiased.

There are some ppl at the occupy events that pro socialism and pro communism.

There are some there who want to end the Fed, and bring the banksters to trial.

There is a mixed message and the mainstream media is largely covering the
message of communism and socialism, etc etc

Alternative sites on the web show ppl with Ron Paul signs, End the Fed signs, etc etc.

So what is being done is a propaganda campaign by the MSM.

Its working perfectly to divide and conquer.

Some of the protestors are paid to be there by some controlling elements.

So for now ppl should keep in mind there is more than one message being
offered, but the MSM is pushing the perspective it wants in hopes of getting
a certain reaction and this thread is proof the MSM propaganda is working as usual.

I think he says it very well. As I've said in the past, we are assured an equal oppourtunity, NOT equal outcome.

Actually there is no equal opportunity. Here's a very simple example.

Marcus is a three year old boy. he was born to a single mother in south Detroit, MI. She works night shift at a gas station register, leaving Marcus with his 70 year-old grandmother for this time. She makes minimum wage, and lives paycheck to paycheck.

James is a three year old boy. He was born to his mother and father in Cedars-Sinai Medical center in Beverly Hills, CA. His father is a partner in one of the top law firms of Los Angeles, earning a high six-digit salary. His mother is a stay-at-home mother who spends much of her time with young James - the hired help handles most of the housework, giving her plenty of leisure time for her young son.

Are Marcus and James born with equal opportunity, beezzer?

youre right, its not equal. there are all sorts of grants and scholarships marcus can get for an education and all sorts of people apologizing for him his entire life, and probably none from james. other than the hard work his father did.

but yeah. you make such an awesome point that having a baby out of wedlock when you are a gas station clerk is not as easy as having one when you have a job you work 60 hours a week, have a family and are financially secure.

youre super smart arent you? of course its James fault if Marcus doesnt have things as easy. typical liberal BS.

Ows is not about wealthy individuals. It is about a fail system of governance and economics. It is about the exploitation of employees and consumers and the miss appropriation of tax monies, corporate profits and legal rights.

It's saying that there is a way to do things that is better for "the rest of us" and that a few of us shouldn't be allowed to run off with most of the pie.

"So when the police kill a "black guy", it is ok to destroy private property? If that happened in one of the US states that recognizes the 2nd amendment, you can bet your bum that a lot more dregs than that "black guy" would have been killed. By law abiding gun owners rightfully protecting their property and personal safety.

I don't think the OP was suggesting that bankers and government are free from blame or against fighting for change. I think he/she is pointing out that the OWS movement is very similar to an annoying, spoiled kid having a temper tantrum. They don't seem to get that the majority of Americans are just kind of shaking their head. The frustration is there for just about everyone, including the majority of those who work in banking and finance. But, whining about it while demanding things for free and trashing city parks at taxpayer expense is the best way to make people think you are just kind of pathetic."

pretty sure there was a thing called the LA riots a few years back

And I havent seen any polls saying the majority of Americans against these protest, rather the only polls i have seen show an overwhelming amount of Americans in favor for these protests.

Do you think that's good debate?

Those people are out there doing a marvelous job FINALLY WAKING PEOPLE UP, and a handful of "ATSers" are acting as the long arm of the msm and marginalizing them. Sad, real sad. Makes me ill actually.

edit on 25-10-2011 by L00kingGlass because: (no reason given)

No I do not think that is a good debate. But I have seen some strong aggression towards the ones that do not support it as well. Sure there are good OWSer's but there are bad ones as well, those are the ones that I fear...they are wolves in sheep's clothing. We the sheeple are finally waking up YES but we would be easily fall back into that sheeple trap again by a smooth talker. It happened once
..it will happen again.

We are to DENY IGNORANCE..not jump on the first bandwagon we agree with and not see who is really behind it, or bash the movement with out knowing the whole truth.

EDIT: MTV to start a reality show Real life OWS..heard about on the radio today...just sayin'

I think the real point of OWS is getting money out of politics, without that nothing can be fixed.

And people like OP will never understand all of this until they lose their job and then finally realize things are so bad that they cant even get a job at McDonalds anymore, even if he has a masters degree.

It isnt a "mommy told me im special" generation, theres people of all races, ages, and status out there. You cant blame young people for being angry that they spent $30k+ for higher education and get nothing out of it besides a debt that you cant even escape with bankruptcy.

Theres more then enough wealth and resources in this country for everyone to live a great life

It has become impossible to distinguish between elected officials and concentrated capital in this country. In a system where special interest can pull its backing and in effect destroy a candidates re-election chances, is the same as being fired by your boss! The law should be accountable to the people!

Mussolini said it best when he said "Fascism should rightly be called Corporatism, as it is the merger of corporate and government power. "

You sir are a Fascist!

This depression was engineered by the banks, and all they had to do was buy three little republican senators to start the ball rolling.

The repeal of provisions of the Glass–Steagall Act of 1933 by the Gramm–Leach–Bliley Act effectively removed the separation that previously existed between investment banking which issued securities and commercial banks which accepted deposits. The deregulation also removed conflict of interest prohibitions between investment bankers serving as officers of commercial banks. This repeal directly contributed to the severity of the Financial crisis of 2007–2011 by allowing Wall Street investment banking firms to gamble with their depositors' money that was held in commercial banks.

We will have reform my man, even if it come to arms!

The OWS is most certainly barking up the right tree!

Really? I thought it was a well known actress who talked about guillotines and such. Maybe it was just tongue in cheek. After all, she is a comedienne.

I hope they plan to complain about all the socialist programs already in place in this country. Why are they for raising anybody's taxes? We are already over-taxed as it is. Oh, wait, they are for taxing the rich. That's class warfare, for which Marxism is highly notorious. These people seem to want more taxes, more govt intrusion in our lives, more Totalitarianism. oh yes, and more democracy than we already have.
I will take them seriously when they call for getting rid of socialism, which is already highly entrenched in our society. Until they realize how much socialism and the welfare state have to do with our economic decline, I cannot and will not support them.

Take a moment and educate yourself!

You can bet your life that many will try to screw the real meaning or make it seem like they have no focus, but at the end of the day we will have reform even if it comes to outright rebellion and an armed resistance!

It seems like we have a whole generation of people that were brought up in the Political Correctness mindset.

In sports they all get a trophy, in school they all get awards. Let's not hurt anyone's feelings. Hardwork was never taught. They were brought up with the mindset that everyone deserves the same amount of credit. As compared to former generations that were taught hardwork and perseverance.

Our country is so divided now with two different mindsets, There are those who work hard and want the government to stay out of their lives and then there are those who want the government to give them free handouts and control everything about their lives. They don't understand it is the people that are working hard whose money is paying for the people that want everything for free.

We must remember we are one country and unless we can come together we will fall. It is scary to see the changes that are going on and I just hope we can come together as a country.

To start with I am a Libertarian who wants as limited as government as possible and I support OWS. The idea of labeling the group as all socialist is a myth.

I don't understand the rational to blame this generation for these problems. Even if you you are right about this generation being brought up without knowing hard work, whose fault is that? The previous generations!

I'm so sick and tired of hearing older people complain about the youth of the day. We are living in a time where banks are stealing trillions of dollars, unjust wars are killing millions of people, and the system is so skewed that there is virtually nothing the average person can do about it.

So who do you blame? The kids!!!

This is a joke. For a hundred years now the major economic policy of the United States has been to deficit spend, in other words to kick the bill to the next generation. Now you blame the youth when they were fed up with it.

And yes I know, given the chance this generation too will kick the bill to the next generation when they get older, but don't complain about them now when they are challenging these evils in the world.

Sorry I need to ask..since when did getting a good education guarantee you a job? I don't ever remember being told I was guaranteed a job after school. I was only learning a skill set for the job type I wanted to apply for.

I went to school for Computer Animation...I am an in house graphic designer and web designer. I haven't touched any 3D software in years. I went to school for one thing and I ended up doing something else.

You can't get a job at McDonald's well unless you speak Spanish you can forget about being hired for fast food. That will be all that I say about that. Immigration and our lack of jobs is a whole other subject.

And before you bash me too much..I lost my job over a year ago. I had to go on unemployment, I was on it for a year before I found another job. I went to night class again to learn a NEW SKILL. I adapted to our new environment. Oh by the way I did not get approved from any food stamps...clearly I was speaking the wrong language....

As U.S. citizens, we don't really have much say in our government. Really, what it boils down to, is we get to vote on what puppet we want to sit in which seat.

One corporate lobbyist potentially has more power than thousands, or even millions, of citizens. If you don't see a problem here, then fine, keep your head buried in the sand.

What are we left with? The right to protest it. The OWS protestors are trying to inspire a change, and I support that!

Yes as U.S. citizens we don't have much say when it comes to everyone else here.

Inspire what change? Didn't we all learn the "CHANGE" lesson from the last election cycle? We were all wanting change then and look what we have now.

Precisely. People need to stop politicizing everything, and just be content that people are waking up. All they needed to do was begin questioning things, the rest will come to them shortly.

Edit: I feel bad for people that are still lost in the left/right paradigm. It doesn't exist. We don't need division, we need cooperation!
