Anonymous shuts down hidden child abuse hub Tor pedos torpedoed, names outed

Members of hacktivist collective Anonymous are claiming credit for shutting down a deep underground child abuse site and outing its membership list. Account details of 1,589 members of Lolita City were posted as part of Anonymous’ Operation Darknet, a wider effort aimed against abuse of the Tor network by paedophiles. Lolita City, said to be hosted by Freedom Hosting, alone housed more than 100GB of child pornography, according to a statement by Anonymous.

As well as providing anonymisation, the Tor network supports a private “dark” top-level domain, .onion. Sites on the "hidden" domain were only visible to Tor users or through Tor gateways, such as tor2web.org. Although some services, such as anything that uses UDP, are blocked, .onion sites are by no means immune to hacking - as the attack by Anonymous illustrates. Anonymous members discovered links to child abuse images in a section called Hard Candy on a .onion site called The Hidden Wiki. Anonymous removed the links, which were reposted by a site administrator. After noticing that "95 per cent of the child pornography listed on the Hidden Wiki shared a digital fingerprint with the shared hosting server at Freedom Hosting", the hacktivists issued a series of ultimatums, which were ignored.

www.theregister.co.uk...

I don't always agree with everything Anon does, but in this case I applaud them wholeheartedly.

That's all I got to say about this.

Go, Anon!

Here is a link to the statement Anonymous released on the matter:

Statement

At apprx 8:45 CST we noticed 95% of the child pornography listed on the Hidden Wiki shared a digital fingerprint with the shared hosting server at Freedom Hosting. --
At apprx 9:00pm CST on October 14, 2011 We identified Freedom Hosting as the host of the largest collection of child pornography on the internet. We then issued a warning to remove the illegal content from their server, which they refused to do. --
At apprx 11:30pm CST on October 14, 2011 We infiltrated the shared hosting server of Freedom Hosting and shutdown services to all clients due to their lack of action to remove child pornography from their server. --
At apprx 5:00pm CST on October 15, 2011 Freedom Hosting installed their backups and restored services to their child pornography clients. We then issued multiple warnings to remove all child pornography from their servers, which Freedom Hosting refused to do. --
At apprx 8:00pm CST on October 15, 2011 despite new security features, we once again infiltrated the shared hosting server at Freedom Hosting and stopped service to all clients.

Our demands are simple. Remove all child pornography content from your servers. Refuse to provide hosting services to any website dealing with child pornography. This statement is not just aimed at Freedom Hosting, but everyone on the internet. It does not matter who you are, if we find you to be hosting, promoting, or supporting child pornography, you will become a target.

Nice job Anonymous.

The only "problem" I see is that this might be the last we see of Freedom Hosting. I wouldn't be surprised if the outed names belonged to some or all site administrators.
Slime of this magnitude will always harbor each other.

Wait a second !

Tor, networks, privacy and pedophiles

Think i've read this book before and next it will be drugs, terrorists and the usual bull# just like we have seen before and used against the internet in general.

Maybe my name will be on the list of perverts because i go against the state and all released by a source who no one is able to track.

It's Google and it's HTTPS you need to be watching

Sorry mate but i'm not buying it but more than likly posted in good faith

I can certainly stand behind this. I have stated many times my doubt about them and have said they should so something more useful. This is a start and something with meaning.

Hopefully those abusing children will be brought to some form of justice over this.

C'mon now.
It's OK to be cynical sometimes, but even in prison, pedos are way way way below drug pushers and other criminals. They're even one rung under rapists.
At the very least, an investigation needs to be conducted and the people outed should be scrutinized.
These types of offenses should never be brushed under the rug or shrugged off.

What are you on about?

Drugs check already been outed
jihad check already been outed

http:///u/opdarknet

Good on them but why aren't they dumping all this info to the authorites instead of dumping info to pastebin.

@Ha`la`tha they could be using the same username in more than one place and why do you want real details on them?

I knew this was coming, While they attack corruption
They attack this too, i commend them for this. Because it seems they do what the FBI cannot do. Or are unwilling to do for some reason. Tor has a lot of.. stuff deep inside of the network, some disturbing things.

That # should be off the internet entirely, I think this hosting site is lucky that Anon didn't just wipe out everything they have. Its more than possible. I hear tell of some virus's that can overvolt a system and fry it completely. USE THAT =P

Yes wipe the evidence how stupid could you get.

Also this isn't new and I really doubt it's just anons, there just the only ones stupid enough to give warnings to the pedos.

Thats a valid point, But they obviously have backups. Lol, so the evidence would still be there. Overvolting and frying the internal components would have no effect on the harddrives
, which is where all the data is.

But it is a valid point. Still *claps*

This seems extremely odd to me,,,,, there are many possibilities in the cards.

1. Police departments, and advocacy groups are always searching for sites, and service providers facilitating this kind of crap. Why were they not informed ? If they were this would lead to arrest.

2. This could also very easily be an attack on freedom hosting itself, and not an actual incident at all. One disgruntled web developer could easily post this information to tarnish the companies name.

3. It could also be a competitor removing their competition or an ex employee with a grudge.

4. It could also be an attack on the people named as clients. Its a great way to take down a few political enemies.

5. The evidence of their crimes will obviously not be shown, so all we have is the word of a twitter account that these people were involved in crimes, and that the hosting company was complicit. Very odd considering point number 1

6. The host company is still running, if this was a true incident the authorities would have pulled the plug.

7. I would add share price manipulation to profit from hedge betting, but this company doesn't seem to have what it takes to get on the stock market,,,, could be wrong though.

Something isn't right with this, but I hope I am wrong.

Just saying

ADDITIONAL: After sifting through the conversations that were supposedly held with the site owner this caught my eye

some of the users of Lolita city are high level politicians, cardinals, and business men
we already know who they are
dont worry
we'll make sure your lives are ruined for messing with us
the people you found were idiots for using the same info
Well, get back to your server

The entire posting reads like it was scripted, check it for yourself http:///YHDnL3de

The site is there (maybe?) for you to visit, I wouldn't advise it
http:///S6YmAkSC

I agree with the going to the authorites over dumping to pastebin just gives time for the pedos to prepare. Click my link to pastebin a couple of posts up for the opdarknet users page

Insane i even had to be asked that, really..

Exceedingly dangerous precedent. Whilst we would all agree those sites deserve to be shut down who's next? sites that 95% disagree with then 85% then 75% then 45% then 25% Ooops seem to have a problem.

This is how freedoms are lost and their methods are just as dangerous and a threat to internet freedoms as governments wishing to impose control due to "terrorism".

Who is watching the watchers, who pulls the plug on Anonymous when they start to target perfectly legit sites that they politically disagree with?

This is what I expect from Anonymous, good job!
I've used Tor and will continue to do so. It's a decent tool for staying somewhat anonymous online. But like everything, you can't expect it to be the end all as Anonymous has now proved. There should be no anonymity for pedophiles online or off. And all the pedo sites on Tor needs to go!

Your going to do that, how excactly?

you don't need any info on these people neither do the vigilantes out there, already been a fake accusation of a user.

To explain how popular this community of pedophiles is. The total page views of the Hidden Wiki 'Hard Candy' section as of October 20th, 2011 is a total 2,055,701. The total view count of main index (non-pedophilia content) of The Hidden Wiki was 2,677,430 time.

Think that says it all
