Vatican calls for global authority on economy, raps "idolatry of the market"

www.reuters.com

he Vatican called on Monday for the establishment of a “global public authority” and a “central world bank” to rule over financial institutions that have become outdated and often ineffective in dealing fairly with crises. The document from the Vatican’s Justice and Peace department should please the “Occupy Wall Street” demonstrators and similar movements around the world who have protested against the economic downturn.

I'm left pretty speechless by this. Of all the institutions pushing for a global bank the Vatican is the last one I want involved. I tend to agree with OWS about the banks but a Global Bank/Monetary authority? That goes really well with a World Religious Authority, World Cultural Authority, Wold Military Authority....etc

What about idolatry of a world government?

Freaking Vatican, as always, puppets of the elite.

How would a global bank please the OWS movement?

This article sucks in that it tried to lump OWS in with these fascists, when that is NOT OWS' goal.

As a Catholic, I am appalled by this announcement. To basically create one giant Fed is disturbing beyond belief and to even think that the Vatican is still trying to play politics when it comes down to this is also disturbing. The Vatican should just stick to what its message was during Pope John Paul II and Mother Teresa and not get involved in the worlds monetary policy.

I get the part about the idolatry of the market.

The last thing I want is global financial oversight, especially when organized religion has anything to do with it.

The Pope and the bankers - the biggest con-artists on planet Earth.

The Vatican should stay away from economics and stick to God and stuff.

Attention Pope never will you rule me you lucifer you. I read a book in 1999 name "You would be surprised who gets left behind". I cant find the book to name the author but i do remember it was written in 1979 from a man in austrailia.

The reason I quote this book is because book focuses on the christians tribulation. America has a president that is tryign to spread peace by maning tomany wars, economy is plummiting people are stressedinto protest and crime starts to rise, then a new man leads america which draws out the anti christ, which is pope at the time. At first the pope is unaware he is workign with lucifer and falls into evils trap, when he does realize he is so scarred he jsut gives in to it, calls for a world economy calls for world peace, and being he is pope many many people listne to him, so according to this book the next step is the 3 prophets who walk the streets spreading word of jesus return, they are slayed lay in streets 3 days rise and return to heaven. Then jesus takes the christians and has his final battle with lucifer satan. anyhow I thought it was intersting adn when i read this article i immediately rememberd that book I read back in 1999

Great, just what we need, more religious nut jobs in charge of things they shouldn't be in charge of, like money. Isn't it bad enough that the vatican takes in millions of untaxed dollars a year? Now they want a world bank? Why the hell can't those fairy tale eaters keep their nose out of non-religious matters, there's a separation of church and state for a reason.

Puppets of the elite, or part of the elite? I would say they are arm and arm.

OK what's worse than a world bank managed by the New Roman Empire?

A world bank managed by the Former Roman Empire.

This should come as no surprise on their side, we don't have to worry, just keep a mind note so you take the right desition when the time comes (stand up for ourselves).

I understand their stance toward free-markets, but I am also confused since they detest socialism. They insist that people should have the right to education and healthcare, but where would the money come from if not through socialism? Now this?

That's all I have to say.

Only because I thrive on pointing out the disconnect:

We are talking, of course, of a global economic authority who will have a monopoly on issuing currency and credit rates... all based upon fractional reserve lending.... in other words, the status quo.

Sure, Holy father, that's what we need, not a hundred little wealth-sucking banking schemes, just one gigantic one with which to ensnare the entire world. [/sarcasm]

What we need is to no longer pander to the elite's status quo; no matter how many frightening scenarios of doom they throw our way. This business of allowing an economic elite to control the world is almost blasphemously ignorant... as if those "abusers in charge" would change if we gave them MORE control.

These elites exist in a rarefied atmosphere of luxury and abundance, and wind up completely disassociating themselves from the real world; and we allow them to convince us that they can come up with a solution to their own moral hazard....

The way I see it, they are watching the system get raped while they drool and watch,
waiting to join in.

Actually, it might work, but only if the bank was fully transparent. That will be very hard.

I think, in the end, the Great Monarch will be the only one able to reform the world.

Isn't this one of those prophecies? You know? The one about the "Super Church?"

Could be Armegeddon is around the corner?

That would be a bummer.
