Firece fighting between Jaysh al-Mahdi and occupation troops breaks out in al-Basrah area Friday and continues past midnight into the early hours of Saturday.

Fierce battles erupted in southern Iraq late Friday after occupation forces raided the office of Shi religious leader Muqtada as-Sadr in at-Tannumah in al-Basrah. The battles raged into the night.

Numerous mortar shells have exploded and the sound of automatic weapons fire and heavy machineguns resounded. Fifteen civilians, most of them women and children had been killed as of 2:20am local time Saturday morning (1:20am Mecca time) and 30 others had been wounded in fighting that still raged as the correspondent filed his report at that time.

Anglo-American butchers kill over 100 citizens of al-Basrah.

More than 100 Iraqi civilians were killed and and over 215 others wounded many of them seriously on Friday-Saturday night in al-Basrah in fighting that raged between the British occupation forces and the Resistance. British armored forces and Anglo-American aircraft, including F-16 fighter bombers, took part in the battle against the Jaysh al-Mahdi militia, loyal to Shii religious leader Muqtada as-Sadr.

According to the local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam, the British occupation troops destroyed 40 houses, some of them razed to the ground. At the time his report was posted at 11:55am Saturday morning Mecca time (12:55pm local time) some of the victims of the Anglo-American attacks had still not been removed from under the rubble.

Fifty cars were damaged or destroyed in the fighting that raged intensely until 7:00am Saturday morning local time. The local correspondent wrote that British forces in the city were intent of keeping a total lid of secrecy on the bloody fighting and the number of victims, to the point that hospitals in the city refuse to release casualty figures. The correspondent obtained his figures from what he described as private sources.

The secrecy was caused, he wrote, by the fact that the Jaysh al-Mahdi was being opposed by a coalition of the Badr Brigades the armed wing of the Shi chauvinist and collaborationist so-called Supreme Council of the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI) organization and the Shii chauvinist and collaborationist Dawah Party both of which hotly object to the Jaysh al-Mahdis opposition within the Shii community to the US occupation of Iraq. The collaborationist chauvinist parties have been carrying out campaigns of assassinations against Sunni leaders in al-Basrah recently and are not above attempting to spark a sectarian war in the country so as to push the Shii masses into the arms of Shii clerics interested in building their power at the expense of the country.

Unlike the pro-American SCIRI and Dawah Party, however, the Jaysh al-Mahdi with its line of opposing the US occupation has won a wide following among the masses of Shii youth of al-Basrah and throughout southern Iraq, threatening the authority of the conservative chauvinist clerics.

It is believed that the massive Anglo-American strikes on civilian targets in al-Basrah were prompted by the desire of Washington and London to try to turn the populace of al-Basrah against the Jaysh al-Mahdi. The Anglo-American aim apparently is to try to get the populace of the city to call for the expulsion of the Jaysh al-Mahdi from the city a move that would allow the chauvinist collaborationist Shii clerics a free hand in the second largest city of Iraq.

British occupation arrests 300 suspected Jaysh al-Mahdi supporters in al-Basrah Friday.

British aggressor troops on Friday arrested some 300 Jaysh al-Mahdi fighters in the course of their attempt to repress the Resistance organization in al-Basrah. The British invaders had earlier used the ruse of issuing notices of job offers to attract young people whose names and addresses were taken down. Later those lists were used in the roundups of suspected militiamen.

The al-Faruq Brigades Resistance organization fired four powerful Grad rockets at the compound at 11:45pm local time Saturday night.

why is it that when a crime becomes commonplace, it is considered 'okay'.
the media are supposed to protect us from lying politicians. it is NOT ACCEPTABLE to have an 'embedded media', or to say 'it's just propoganda, both sides do it'. we may have little effect on the corporate teetsucking spineless executive decision makers, but we don't have to be so frickin' apathetic about it.

where is the reporting on US strikes on independent media and reporters in iraq.

where is the mainstream reporting of the ties and historical patterns of CIA involvement in third world countries. of close ties between tim osman/osama bin laden and the CIA. saddam and the CIA. noriega and the CIA. all the propped up dictators in the third world and the CIA. bush and the bin ladens. bush and coc aine. bush senior and the brother of the guy who shot reagan. the northwoods document. the silence is deafening. the media is supposed to CONNECT the dots, not disCONnect them. it's such transparent tripe that i can't believe anyone buys a single word of any of it!

A pain-staking account of the IRR Reports, from sept 01 thru sept 20 reveals the American injury and death toll in Iraq as follows:

US_Troops_Killed = 1298
US_Troops_Wounded = 147
US_Intelligence_Killed = 62

As for civillan casualties

Killed = 481 (29 children)
Wounded = 700 (8 children)

------------

At this rate, how long can US sustain? How many more cannon folders will enable Bush to think again?

Well, this does show the true nature of the "enemy" mindset.

"Puppets"..."aggressors"...Another professor killed! Yay! Another spineless bomb goes off. Yay! Evil Americans slaughter innocent people! Yay! "Resistance sharpshooters"? Please...

What a load of camel dung. It's easy to plant bombs and assassinate professors, engineers, and translators. It takes no special skill or intestinal fortitude to lob mortar shells in the enemy's general direction and disappear. Quite obviously, they dare not initiate confrontation where someone might...fight back, or something.

If you take this at face value, you gotta wonder where all these "Iraqi puppet troops" keep coming from. You'd almost think that there are people fighting to free their country from these faceless cowards.

I am not impressed. If they're so great, let them stand and fight like men instead of planting bombs and running like spooked goats at the first sign of any resistance.

You obviously do not know there is a phrase called "Guerilla War". Different from Vietnam War, US will be defeated much sooner.

The US lost 1298 troops KIA in the last month, come on.; Do you really believe this BS, that's more than they've lost in the entire conflict.

Do you actually believe the rate of actual loss?

I believe that actual loss will be between above account and US official admission. But I know US official loss is bull#es. By the way, anyone injured in the Abram attack? Of course, no one is injured or killed.

What so you really believe the US lost almost 1300 soldiers last month. If this was the casualty rate then it would easily come out on the mainstram media, what about all the families who would come forward.
This isn't China where the government easily lies to the people and gets away with it. Democracies are open and accountable, so please think about it.

Th fact that they lost far more men KIA then wounded doesn't make any sense it's always the other way around.

I said it is between the two accounts. While US admits about 60 KIA, and IRR claims for 1200. I think a number of 5*60=300 is more close to reality.

Remember within one week over 250 Iraqi people were killed. About report could not be complete for all Iraqi killed, only some known to their reporters.

China do not hide the loss of life in war. Chinese people understand and appreciate those died for the Country. They are called "Zui Ke Ai de Ren", most lovable people. China do not commit troops lightly, only when in absolute necessity. In the coming Unification war, we know the potential huge loss of the Best Chinese Soldiers. It will be my honor to be one of them.

A lot of these releases do need to be taken with a grain of salt.

However, one way we could get an accurate count of U.S. casualities is if the family members of the soldiers killed would simply send a note to a non Fox related news site and report it.

They could keep a tally and undermine the governments ability to keep it secret for as long as possible. Probably wouldn't work but its just a thought.

Propaganda

"It may also be defined as the spreading of information in order to influence public opinion and to manipulate other people's beliefs."

Just in case anyone wanted to get technical.

If those of you who think it is bad now, are loseing it, imagine if the media wasn't controlled, and every aspect of the war, good, bad and ugly was televised by who ever had the means to broadcast. This isn't as bad as it could be, the war could be in your back yard, our front lawns or worse. Reality is a cruel teacher, and nothing is fair. Face up to it, talk is cheap and nothing outside of takeing action is going to change things. Go ahead and decide what to believe, choose your ignorance, that's your prerogative.

Man is three things; Who we think we are, who others think we are, and who we really are.

Fierce fighting erupts in al-Bayya area of Baghdad after midnight early Wednesday morning.

Shortly after midnight, at 12:10am Wednesday morning local time, fierce fighting broke out in the al-Bayya area of downtown Baghdad. Earlier in the day it was the scene of a massive Resistance car bombing.

Massive Iraqi Resistance car bomb blasts US military column Tuesday in the al-Bayya area.

The local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the US column consisted of several small armored vehicles, a group of Humvees, and large troop transport vehicles. The Resistance detonated a car bomb so huge that it totally destroyed two American troop transport vehicles, both of which were full of US soldiers at least twenty per vehicle, according to the correspondent. Three Humvees were also destroyed in the attack.

The Resistance did not merely detonate the powerful car bomb, but opened fire with rocket-propelled grenades on what was left of the US column after the massive explosion.

The blast occurred in an area to the east of al-Bayya, and west of the former Saudi Hospital by the highway leading to Baghdad. The correspondent described the scene of the attack, saying that body parts of the soldiers had been blown all over the area, filling the sidewalk near the site of the explosion.

After the massive attack, US forces closed down about 60 percent of the main roads in the Baghdad area and the surrounding area, setting up numerous command points. Helicopters and warplanes filled the sky over the district.

US forces also set about cleaning up the scene of the attack, picking up corpses and numerous scattered body parts, as well as shredded pieces of uniforms, cleaning and covering blood stains and removing US-related debris.

At the time his report was filed 6:55pm Mecca time; 7:55pm local time Tuesday night the correspondent wrote that US helicopters were still prowling the skies over the area, preventing reporters and photographers from entering and approaching the scene of the attack, making pictures from the area impossible to obtain.

Later in the day the US military acknowledged an attack on the highway to Saddam International airport, claiming it was a car bombing, and that the explosion was massive and that it destroyed 10 civilian cars in the area. The Iraqi puppet police told the US Associated Press (AP) that there were an undetermined number of civilian casualties as a result of the bombing.

A mouthpiece for the Americans claimed, however, that only four US troops were wounded in the massive assault, one of them evacuated to a military hospital, while the other three were treated at the scene. The spokesman also asserted that initial reports by another military spokesman of the destruction of an American Bradley armored vehicle had been untrue.

US military forces, however, sealed off the area of the car bomb attack in al-Bayya from the media, preventing any independent verification of the US propagandists claims.

It was also unclear from the US account as to whether the American assertions pertained to the car bombing incident that took place in al-Bayya, or the attack at 4:40pm on the highway to Saddam International Airport (see story below).

Three US troops killed in ambush near Baghdad Tuesday afternoon.

Iraqi Resistance forces attacked a US column on the highway to Saddam International Airport near the al-Amil neighborhood south of Baghdad. A powerful explosion resulted from the attack and clouds of smoke rose over the target zone after the attack.

At 7:15am north of Baghdad in the at-Taji area, fifteen heavy 120mm mortar shells slammed into the base jointly used by the US rapid intervention force and the puppet so-called Iraqi national guard recruited and armed by the Americans. Ten minutes later the same camp was struck by two rockets believed to be of the high-explosive Grad variety.

Meanwhile the US commands camp at at-Tallah was also attacked when the Resistance lobbed five Katyusha rockets into the facility. Afterwards, two US Cobra helicopters appeared in the sky overhead.

At 9:00pm Tuesday night a explosion shook the US base in Kirkuk, probably the result of a car bombing. The area of the attack was immediately closed off.

At 9:15pm Tuesday night Resistance forces shelled al-Muthanna airfield in Baghdad with ten 82mm mortar rounds. Warning sirens went off in the camp afterward.

The local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the attack took place at 6:15am Tuesday morning and that the Resistance fighters first detonated bombs under the US patrol, which consisted of three amphibious armored vehicles of the type used by the Marine Corps.

The correspondent wrote that the blast disabled two of the amphibious armored vehicles. Immediately afterward a US Blackhawk helicopter flew into view in the skies overhead. Resistance fighters had been observing the helicopter, however, and attacked it with a weapon locally known as an Ahadiyah single fire otherwise believed to be called a Dimitrov.

The Resistance fire struck the Blackhawk, setting fire to its tail and forcing it to flee to Saddam International Airport, 17km away from the scene of the attack.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent notes that the Dimitrov is a Russian anti-aircraft weapon that comes in single, double, triple, and four fire versions. The single Ahadiyah has a 14.5mm round and its effective range is between 3.5km and 4km.

The battles were still under way when the local Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent filed his report posted at 12:45pm local time (11:45am Mecca time).

Some 50 US snipers were also deployed on rooftops surrounding Hayfa Street, shooting at any moving target. Since the American snipers were perched atop the residences of local people, the Iraqi Resistance was unable to open fire on the Americans with mortars or other heavy weaponry lest the explosions bring the buildings down on the Iraqi residents beneath.

Despite that advantage and the fact that the US forces enjoy air support from Apache helicopter gunships and back up from Iraqi puppet troops, the Americans were still unable to advance upon Resistance defenses on the street.

Eyewitnesses told the correspondent that the latest round of fighting erupted after US forces launched an attack at 6:00am local time, trying to break into the street area and take control. The Resistance blunted the assault, however, blocking the American advance. Five US troops were killed as were eight Iraqi stooges, eyewitnesses reported. One Bradley armored vehicle was put out of commission and a Humvee was destroyed. A GMC vehicle belonging to US intelligence was set ablaze in the fighting, as were two pickup trucks owned by the Iraqi puppet forces.
