Karzai : Afghanistan would support Pakistan against the US if there's a Pakistan-US war

Well ain't that nice? After all the US has done for Karzai (put him in power, keep him in power) for all these years...or helped his brother become the greatest drug lord in Afghanistan...(before he was whacked)

Afghanistan to back Pakistan if wars with U.S.: Karzai

- Afghanistan would support Pakistan in case of military conflict between Pakistan and the United States, Afghan President Hamid Karzai said in an interview to a private Pakistani TV channel broadcast on Saturday.

The remarks were in sharp contrast to recent tension between the two neighbors over cross-border raids, and Afghan accusations that Pakistan was involved in killing the chief Afghan peace envoy, former Afghan president Burhanuddin Rabbani, by a suicide bomber on September 20.

"God forbid, If ever there is a war between Pakistan and America, Afghanistan will side with Pakistan," he said in the interview to Geo television.

"If Pakistan is attacked and if the people of Pakistan needs Afghanistan's help, Afghanistan will be there with you."

We have been attacking Pakistan pretty regularly for years now.

Where has everyone been? It's been on the news countless times.

Yeah but this is some kind of agreed deal between Pakistan and the US. For now. Not really war per say.

The only reason (in my view) Afghanistan would side with Pakistan is the drug trade and terrorist league, "your enemy is my enemy, therefore we are friends."
When it comes to the drug trade the terrorist and the hate for the west especially the USA, the hate and drive for money will make friends out of the worst of two enemy's. Afghanistan does not care about the people of Pakistan only the money that would be lost.

How many government alliances has the US government betrayed? None of this should be surprising.

I'd love to be kicking Taliban ass. but with twisted crap like this it just isn't worth it.

It's not really a surprise though is it? Side with people on the opposite side of the world or side with those they share culture and heritage with?

It really has nothing to do with all the help from the US, etc over the last 10 years. More to do with 1000's of years of shared history.
