Verbal agreements are worth the paper they aren't written on

What good are future verbal agreements if they aren't written on paper and the seller broke a previous verbal agreement to meet at a certain time and place on a previous occasion? I say verbal agreements aren't worth a hill of beans especially if one party breaks an earlier verbal agreement to meet at a certain time. This is especially disturbing if the meeting time was not only ignored but no phone message was left as to why and then about 1 hour later, they claim a sudden medical emergency and mumble the name of it. Then this seller has the nerve to get angry at me about me stating what I thought they knew (no other verbal agreements honored, just go by the paperwork.)

My father got hosed because of a verbal agreement he made with my mother over child support. He had to pay her 50,000 in back payments... Over and LIE.

Verbal agreements don't mean # if your dealing with one of satans little helpers.

I lived with three roomates for 10 months...and two of them would never clean a damn thing - we'd always have little house meetings and say "do this this and this" and they'd say "yeah man, of course"....didn't do it....so after the water in the kitchen sink turned black from god knows what and everything in the kitchen was thoroughly dirty - meaning I didn't clean one damn things that wasn't mine for about 2 months...

I finally wrote it out - "You'll clean this mess up until it's spotless and you'll continue to do it every time you make a mess, and if you don't, every day that sh*t sits there I'll charge you an extra $100 for rent" - and the fools signed it...didn't do anything for a day after that - I charged them $100 each...they got the messege...I got a nice little discount on rent...and the problem never happened again

Living with other people made me become a friggin nut on getting things nice and crystal clear as far as how things will operate....and if you get the sense they're no willing to cooperate, you write it out and make it official...

On the other hand I believe there is a major difference between recorded verbal agreements and my word versus her word sort of agreements. I once heard an angry guy talking on a radio call in tell his soon to be ex wife that he didn't care and that she could take the car, the house, etc. He didn't give a flying you know what. If that wasn't staged, he'll probably regret saying those things on a recorded radio broadcast.
