I got about 5 mins in. The fact here, and it's painfully obvious at this point...Gaddafi was looking out for himself and his position in life. If he was graciously accepting of his fellow Libyans, he would have negotiated a separate outcome where life wasn't needlessly lost, kept his mouth shut labeling people as rats, and allowed the infrastructure everyone else helped build to remain intact.


On a related note... I've seen G. Bush at Rangers games, and it makes me puke a little in my mouth.

This is what happens to all that oppose the hand of the beast.
but Gaddafi was not a saint. Those of us that have lived long enough to establish karmic balance or imbalnce...we all reap what we sow at the end.

If it was the truth. He wouldn't be dead.

Hi there OP. Good post. While I, generally, support your opinion, I'd like to add a few points based on some of the replies here:

1) Gadaffi was, indeed, no saint

He certainly had good intentions. I think what happened, though, was that after the earlier "revolution" he consistently was worried about counter revolutionaries trying to take the power back. I'm going to assume that in his frame of mind, he was worried of those trying to take the power away from "the people". Furthermore, I don't think Gadaffi ever truly trusted the people.

If ANY of you actually ever read the Green Book, you'd see that his ideas are actually quite strong and reasonable. In order to keep these ideas working, a certain form of control (or, dictatorship) is required

2) Why all the supporters of a dead Gadaffi??

My guess is that the majority of the 'supporters' are "youngsters" who never actually lived in Libya pre-Gadaffi. As one of the replies states, there are PLENTY of people who absolutely love Gadaffi. They are probably older though.

3) The Monarchists

Has anyone here noticed as of yet that all of the "rebels" are always waving the old Monarchist flags? Furthermore, is anyone aware that the beginning of the "protests" that started this whole rebellion, were launched from organizations based out of the UK and the US? The initial day of protests weren't even organized from those within Libya. That speaks a certain truth on it's own.

In Summary..

I don't think Gadaffi was a saint. He did some stupid things, and trampled the rights of some individuals. That being said, it's Libya - not North America. Things run differently there. I truly believe that he was looking out for Libyans, Africans, etc..Anyone with a basic knowledge of Libya would understand that Libya has ALWAYS been ruled and conquered by Western actors. Gadaffi was the one who 'apparently' was not.

The concept that the whole country is celebrating his death is complete propaganda and stupidity. Yes - I'm sure that there are those who indeed are celebrating. But please, stop pawning off that the whole country is like this. The whole country has practically never been united UNTIL Gaddafi - if that. Seeing as a country has never been unified for centuries, I find it VERY hard to believe that the whole country was against Gadaffi. The success of this operation is entirely due to Western influence aiding and arming a group of disenfranchised youngsters, Westerners, etc..

Nice post, you went to a lot of trouble, but, a fascist is a fascist. They all have their fans because a fascist has to 'take care' of a certain sector of the population to keep the grip on power. Take for example Francisco Franco, there are still people here in Spain that worship the guy. That doesn't make him some good wise king, it just meant that he controlled the military and used a system of priveledge and punishment to keep the people in line. He was executing political prisoners right up to the end. This is the way of all fascist regiemes.
Clearly Gaddafi wasn't loved by all look at how he ended up, and don't give me none of that western conspiracy BS, he took money from big oil to keep his military well armed so he could stay in power so long, and that's all there is to it. Any monkey could have done the job, and I'm sure BP compensated him handsomely. In fact I'm pretty sure the reason Gaddafi was killed right after capture was to keep his mouth closed about the financial aid he was recieving to drag this civil war on so long. BP needed time to negotiate with the next regieme.

I usually ignore posts such as yours, but I fight fascism in all it's forms, Power to the people!

You mean the disapearances, torture, death penalties and other problems mentioned in the UN pdf the OP posted?

When Eygpt tells you that you should do more to make women equal citizens, there is an issue. When Thailand tells you that you need more laws to protect women from violence and discrimination you've have an issue.

When multiple countries are complaining that you need to at least make a legislation against human trafficking something is wrong.

The trafficking of women and children was a real concern in the country. There was also much international concern about the role women were allowed to play in society. From education to economic involvement women were being actively discriminated against.

A little note from Switzerland

Switzerland recalled that the right to freedom of expression was a fundamental right,
in particular article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and
article 9 of the African Charter. Switzerland noted that hundreds of peoples were under
administrative detention in the country, despite having been acquitted by the court or
having already served their sentence. Courts continued to pronounce death sentences and
inflict corporal punishment, including whipping and amputation. Switzerland made
recommendations.

Human Rights Watch reported on the death of 19men stuffed in shipping crates with little food and water. They were left to die from suffocation.

Libya: 19 Suffocated

Human Rights Watch interviewed two survivors of the incident and a third man who was detained and tortured in one of the 40-foot long metal containers prior to the incident. A video, apparently filmed by a Gaddafi soldier on his cell phone, viewed by Human Rights Watch, shows the third man and five other detainees getting kicked and whipped inside the container. Human Rights Watch also saw the 18 exhumed bodies, all of them in an advanced state of decomposition, when they were brought, on September 8, to the Tripoli Medical Center morgue.

Before anybody calls them a mouth piece Human Rights Watch has also attacked America on many issues. They have a link on their home page to issues and reports regarding the US. They have nothing to gain by fabricating stories against libya.

It has included the abduction, forced disappearance or assassination of political opponents; torture and mistreatment of detainees; and long-term detention without charge or trial or after grossly unfair trials. Today hundreds of people remain arbitrarily detained, some for over a decade, and there are serious concerns about treatment in detention and the fairness of procedures in several on-going high profile trials before the Peoples’ Courts. Libya has been a closed country for United Nations and non-governmental human rights investigators.

LIE 1: “There were Human rights abuses in Libya and Gaddafi slaughtered his own people”

The primary justification for intervention in Libya by NATO was because "there were severe human rights abuses" under Gaddafi's rule. These claims were in reality, far fetched and laughable, because Libya probably had far better human rights than any other country in Africa. What YOU were told by those Mainstream Media fanatics including all those so called "human rights" groups like Amnesty International (which is no doubt another front controlled by the Elite), were all either fabricated lies or deliberately exaggerated for the justified NATO intervention.
This damning piece of evidence (dated 4th January 2011) from the UN Human Rights website which clearly shows undeniable proof that there was absolutely NO EVIDENCE of serious Human Right's abuses as accused by NATO and UN presently.
