Did you actually look at the picture you posted? If that's not an explosion just exactly what is it? Add the correct amount of oxygen as you are telling people to do and you get bigger explosion. If you don't understand why this is read a chemistry book and learn about what you are talking about. Hydrogen and oxygen in the right proportions will explode violently with the addition of a very small amount of energy like a static spark.

Well this whole dangerous business is getting old because there are thousands and thousands of people doing this at home. "HHO do it yourself" 256,000 results in google.

If you had thousands of people at home playing with gasoline, many of them would be dead right now.

So you are a chemist I need a co2 scrubber for a brinks truck conversion into a survival vehicle.

It has managed air intake. Ports that are similar to a standard safety gas mask for construction. Screw on filters. Lets say 4 inch.

So I want to be able to attach a co2 scrubber to that system if need be.

What about a coffee can, open at both ends, a nylon, filled with activated charcoal?

In line. Attach to the vent ports if needed.

How often would I need to change the activated charcoal and can it be reused?

I want to shut the external air intake, to prevent chlorine gas intake, and I want to re breathe the air.

So I want to scrub the co2 for as long as I can.

Oh I will just make a separate thread.

Great idea.

I think it is handy information to know as a backup plan.

Ok. You do not want to use electrolysis in an enclosed space like an underground bunker. If something goes wrong or is setup incorrectly, you will be building up two flammable gases. Pure oxygen and hydrogen.

If something goes wrong, one of two things will happen. Either the gases will eventually be ignited or will be potent enough to replace the breathable oxygen and suffocate you to death.

On a side note, someone in this thread mentioned that you cannot weld dissimilar metals. That is not entirely true. It is done all the time. Take an aircraft carrier for example. It uses a bimetallic strip to attach the aluminum superstructure to the steel hull.

The bimetallic strip itself is explosion welded together. That is, two plates of dissimilar metals are placed on top of each other, plastic explosive is placed on top of the stack, and then it is buried and the explosives are detonated.

The force of the explosion fuses the two dissimilar metals together. They can then be used for whatever purpose.

Why is it not breathable?

Oxygen and hydrogen is
breathable. Hydrogen won't hurt you. Just don't light a smoke.

Or have a a UV lamp in a Sanuvox air filtration system under the seat, while you are in an area that has Chlorine gas.

If chlorine gas mixes with hydrogen and comes under UV light, it will explode.

A little spark, might not ignite your oxygen hydrogen atmosphere in your enclosed space. You can watch some youtube videos in this thread to see how explosive it is. HHO is actually .an implosion and you can see that in the video with the home made torch, it back flashes into the bubbler and does not blow off the cap of the bubbler.

Breathe Chlorine or smoke inhalation or nuclear fallout from an open window during the apocalypse or breath a bit of Hydrox, the choice is up to you. These sorts of life and death decisions you will have to make every five minutes during the apocalypse.
