Here is a fascinating case which has come to light today and is breaking as I type.

The case goes back to 1996 when the cop went under cover to infiltrate a group of cyclists who were protesting about the environment.

Trouble broke out and arrests were made. Included in the arrests was the undercover cop.

Instead of relieving him from his duties the Police let him go to court under his fake name. He attended pre trial meetings held by the defence team and was privvy to sensitive and confidential information which it is now thought he could have passed back to his handlers in the Police to give them an advantage in the court.

It is now expected that those convicted of offences will now have their convictions declared unsound and it raises questions about whether the Police have used this tactic in other cases.

I think this will be another embarrassment for the Police and shows the depths they will stoop to get convictions and disrupt protest groups.

Plus the cost to tax payer to sort the mess out, which might include compensation to those affected.

Does anyone think any Police Officer will be sacked as a result of this ?

If the Police are prepared to go to such lengths over a groups of bearded cyclists what do they do when it comes to more serious protestors.

Beggars belief.

Nothing new here. This has been ongoing for years.

It makes you wonder which other groups they have had police officers go undercover.

That officer needs to be held to account as well as his Senior Officers for allowing this continue.

There is nothing new about under cover cops, but it's the first time they have been found lying in court under oath.

Yes but This case has been going on for years, is why I am saying nothing new there.

If you looked at the bottom of the page there is another case invovling an under cover cop:

The trial of six green campaigners has collapsed after an undercover policeman who had infiltrated their group offered to give evidence on their behalf.

The six were charged with conspiring to shut down the Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station in Nottingham in 2009.

And that fact, which is alarming, how many other officers have lied in court to gain a conviction, it certainly makes you wonder. With regards to the Police now a days.

And here is more information with regards to Undercover Police operations, so it is not the first time this has happened, so police can gain convictions under false information.

Undercover policing operations should have to be authorised in advance by a judge, the head of the Association of Chief Police Officers has said.

Sir Hugh Orde told a seminar change was needed to restore public confidence.

It follows concerns about ex-Metropolitan Police constable Mark Kennedy, who spent seven years posing as an environmental activist.

Ok thanks for your input.

So there is nothing to stop under cover cops being sent in to any group. The cops could be the ones to start the trouble, instigate violence, thereby giving the Police the excuse to round up the troublemakers and condem them.

I remember a thread a while back about protestors being arrested and there were clues in the photographs that those being arrested were cops. They had the same footwear on.

There was also some evidence that some of the "trouble makers" at the G20 in London in 2009 were police officers,

An MP who was involved in last month's G20 protests in London is to call for an investigation into whether the police used agents provocateurs to incite the crowds.

Liberal Democrat Tom Brake says he saw what he believed to be two plain-clothes police officers go through a police cordon after presenting their ID cards.

www.guardian.co.uk...

It only needs a couple of people to incite a riot when tempers are running high.

One law for them one law for everyone else. This just shows how corrupt these people are. The truth must come out and this is just a tiny portion of it. If the mainstream media truely covered the truth I think there would be civil war in the UK.

Sounds a lot like entrapment..

Isn't that a crime.

The Police genuinely believe they are above the law and that anything they do to gain a conviction is ok.

They have used agent provoceteurs and have inflitrated protest groups for donkeys years.

The scary thing is the group infiltrated is called Reclaim The Streets;

en.wikipedia.org...
rts.gn.apc.org...

They hardly advocate subversion and smashing the state or any radical form of political ideology.

If the police are prepared to do this against a group like this then imagine what lengths they have / will go to against more radical and extreme groups and parties?

The police and other groups like MI5/6 are there purely to protect the status quo and the rule of the elite.
That explains their "get out of jail free" status and the opportunity to resign if the heat is turned on them, rather than face any jail time. After all, they'd probably squeal and bring down others rather than take the heat alone. So, best to make sure it doesn't happen.

The use of these provocateurs is well documented and yet the evidence is ignored or dismissed and seems to be completely acceptable to the state, even if those under cover agents break laws or are even under orders to do so. As we all know, and have seen in the past, the rule of law can be ignored completely by the government and the evidence of their wrongdoing hidden away for decades at the stroke of a pen under "national security" rulings. By that, they mean anything that may cause embarrassment to the government or it's agents and show criminal activity, rather than anything that actually harms the country.

So, for anyone looking to join a protest group, be very wary of those who seem most vocal and seem to be the prime facilitators and logistical guys. They just might be wired for sound and selling you all out.

It's another example of "an inside job" where the tptb have caused or created the problem and then go on to provide the solution.

And yet there are those who are adamant that inside jobs are not possible or not happening.

This is one staring you in the face and proves that anything is more than possible, it is actually happening all the time.
