I ask that people be mature and positive. This is about change and attitude. What can we do to make change in a way where people won’t be hurt. I am quite certain the mods will be watching over this one. So I would refrain from throwing out posts that will offend people...

First of all, let me make one thing clear….”I am NOT the 99%! And I am NOT the 1%. I consider myself the 53%. (If you want to know more, just do a search on ATS). And in saying so, does that mean that I’m going to be put up against a wall and shot!?!? There are some here on ATS that certainly think that should be the case! It did not take me more than an hour to compile some of the posts I have listed below. After about ten minutes, I grew sick of what I was witnessing! After an hour, I got a cold shiver down my spine!

Here is a small portion of the posts I came across:

the cops have no honor all they care is about a wage packet

As far as the cops on horseback, fake rubber snakes, horse's really don't like snakes. And rubber snakes arent against the law. About the time you see one of those thugs on horseback take a nasty spill and the horse run wild thru crowd, you want see the horses's anymore. There's also certain smells horse's don't like. I believe this will turn violent if it continues.

The Police over there have already been beating Peaceful Protestors/Innocent People.

This guy can dress any way he wants as long as he is heard peacefully. If this were someone in average clothes, they would have beaten him down and cuffed him and taken him away.

Someone needs to reach across that barricade and smack some sense into those police.

I wish the entire crowd would have rushed that "police officer" and beaten the man to death.

The police will burn where they stand.

You can stand with the police. Just don't get upset when you end up being cut down just like them.

The police will not be happy until they are fleeing at the sight of enraged Americans lobbing glass bottles filled with gasoline and a flaming handkerchief at their heads. We'll see how much their souls are worth then.

The police will learn very quickly. Physically up front in their faces, and from the shadows.

Why don't you go back to whatever careless and apathetic hole you crawled out of and leave the rest of us to fight your battles.

You wouldn't do # but twiddle your thumbs or get your head stomped on until your consciousness is oozing over the paint.

They need to remember that they are humans that can bleed, and that they have family members. This will not be a one sided beating, I will guarantee you that!!

The Teaparty will have to join OWS. If not, it will be their demise.

The governments need to be violently purged, and the multinationals must be brought to their knees.

If you do not support OWS, you best get out of the way!

We are the 99%! You best make up your mind! You won’t able to do so once you’re up against the wall!

Police....... brutality. The cops just love it to, but they make easy targets of themselves.

People around the world, like yourself, are trying to keep this from us. This is OUR moment. This is OUR movement. Do not attempt to stand in our way or you WILL end up just like the tyranny we are fighting off, left in your own worthless words wondering where it all went wrong.

Seriously?? I am all for this movement, but speaking about peoples kids??? Low and uncalled for, no matter what you stand for.

I disagree. The bankers are thieves whose hands need to be cut off.

violence is the answer!

You stop corruption by making it an act of treason, and making it punishable by death. Extreme? Yes. But people would think twice about what it means to be a public servant.

Thankfully, Americans are not as cowardly as you are.

If you watch fox news, than you are the 1%.

Screw the police and the traitorous pig civilians that support them

Clash between the people and the pigs is inevitable, and has been from the start.

Sometimes you have to punch someone in the face to keep your life in tact.

Though some would say that they do not condone this kind of behavior, most pro-OWSers stood on the sidelines and watched it take place! Is this what OWSers really want? If not, you certainly have a way of showing it! I have no affiliation with the Tea-party or OWS, but one thing is clear, you will not see this activity going on with the Tea-party movement! I hate to say it folks, but there are some that are turning your OWS moment into a total sham! I will not go into the intricate details of what you all want (I’m sure I could write a book), but if there is to be positive change, it has to exclude violence in any way or form! We could talk our ears off about what the police are doing! We could disagree with how the protesters are provoking the police! At the end of the day, you have to ask yourself “who the better person”? The tea-Party did get hijacked by Beck and Palin, but still, most of them have the same beliefs as those protesting on Wall Street. They are tired of the bull-$h!t, and want change.

If I didn’t know better, I would have to say that a lot of these posts are a good indicator of things to come. I had no problem associating them with a particular movement pre WWII! It was called the Nazi party! The posts reminded me of a Nazi documentary I was watching on YouTube three months ago! I saw an eerie resemblance to some of the people posting.

When watching the video, replace “Germany” with “America”, “Party” with “OWS”, and “Jews” with “capitalist”. Maybe it’s just me, but do see a similar voice coming from OWS members? All that is missing is a good “speaker” to pass off the message of “positive change”!

When it all comes down to it, you will have to decide between what is right and what is wrong. Some would have you believe that total chaos, anarchy, and revolution is the only recourse to make any change possible. If this is what you believe, you have to take in to consideration the repercussions. I would bet that most who promote this kind of change have little to lose. I.e.: home, job, family, children, education, food on the table, etc. Though you may gain to lose nothing, there are many out there who will lose everything! If you want a good example of chaos, anarchy, and revolution, just take a good look at is what is going on around the world! It has not been a pretty picture!

This is NOT fun and games people! I am not saying there are people who don’t need to answer for their misdeeds…they do! But at what cost? Who else is going to lose? Do you think there are other alternatives Instead of getting hell bent on watching the world burn? What else can we do? I see so much negativity coming from the OWS movement! Please try to focus it in a way that won’t destroy people’s lives. Look at what's at stake!I can only hope this thread makes a differnce! But Is it too late…

because the cops never once challenged the right of tea partiers to protest. See, the cops are servicing - hand, mouth, and anus - the moneyed interests. The tea partiers did not challenge those interests - in fact the entire POINT of the tea party "movement" was to demand bigger tax cuts for those same interests, oppose a challenge to pharmaceutical monopolies, and generally campaign for stock Republican causes.

Let's see some dumbass tea partier get punched in the face. Let's see their kids get gassed. Let's see seventy year old veterans in the tea party tackled to the ground, beaten, and zipcuffed.

THEN let's see how these guys respond. I'm sure it'll be all love and rainbows from 'em, right? Once all that happens, THEN you can have a place to try to compare the situations.

of course, that situation never came up, No matter what.

And why is that? Why should it be stupid to bring your kid to a protest? Isn't protest one of the rights enshrined in the constitution? Aren't the police there to protect and serve their communities? S'what it says on their badges and seals, after all. I'd think that battering a child - or anyone else, actually - is a violation of that credo, don't you?

Personally I'd be pissed if some kid got clobbered by the cops, no matter the case. Apparently people like you are happy with it, so long as the protest is manned mostly by "liberals," right?

The reason people brought their children to Tea Parties is that they had a specific goal and came together in unity.
That is one thing the OWS doesn't seem to understand or even have a grip of.

Wow! Very professional of you! It is that kind of attitude that makes the OWS look bad! You don't see that?

I have to say, I agree that the police will eventually stop saber rattling and crack down, and it will be because these OWS step over some line. The protesters want it to happen. I have been watching the activity and its way different from the Tea Party. In the Tea Party, if a cop asks you to disperse you disperse; if a cop says you are being illegal, you make the arrangements to be legal. These OWS people are deliberately baiting the cops, and trying to start something!

No, I don’t hate cops. It is all a matter of circumstance. Some cops need to be locked up for their actions! But you can’t assume that they’re all bad. Which a lot of OWSers are implying.

But you have to ask……who is assaulting who in the first place? There is a video (which I can’t seem to find) of OWSers telling reporters that they want to have a bigger and better protest than Wall Street NY. And when I say “bigger and better”, I’m talking more out of control. The cops aren’t there looking for a fight. The protesters are! Permit or not, you can’t be doing whatever you wan't!

It doesn’t take common sense to know that it is not the right atmosphere to expose a child too. The Tea-party brings their children all the time to their demonstrations. Which say a lot about the maturity of the Tea-Party folk.

DING! DING! WE HAVE A WINNER!

85% of the OWS people believe in what they are protesting even if their message is a little blurred. Hell, I even agree with some of them, but it is the 15% that are going to cause problems. They are out to turn these protests violent. Toss in union thugs, Communist agitators and your wannabe anarchists and you have the potential for a real problem. There is an idiot who states that what is needed is another Kent State type incident, to unite the people in order to make these protests work.

I think it's because it is a non-political movement, attended by all classes of people from every race, profession, age, political persuasion and background... that are standing side by side and letting their feelings be known about the state of corruption and greed in the world and how they're aware of what's going on and are not going to stand for it any more.

These are people who got off their asses and did something instead of moaning and bitching on the internet.

There have been calls for so long for people to rise up and do something about the tyranny and injustice and the corporate machine and to close the gap between the rich and poor, which is greater than ever, and now people are actually doing something.

OH WAIT....

You asked what was WRONG with it???

People that talk crap.... that are moaning and bitching about it, people that are discrediting and knocking it without having a clue what they're talking about.. people who keep saying that this is a left-wing, commie, hippie movement when it is not, people who essentially just moan and bitch instead of doing something,.

THAT is what's wrong with the movement..... and it's the Detractors.

So far on ATS I have seen the OWS movement accused of being communists, Nazi's, rapists, anti semites and a bunch of violent yobs, now if I didn't know any better I would say there has been a serious attempt to defame this movement from day one. Now in who's interest does that serve?

OWS needs to be aware of their image that they project. The 15% will ruin it for them. Tea Party events try to keep the knot heads out of if their events. The Tea Party Nation, Tea Party Express and all those you see on Fox and other networks are not the Tea Party... FYI teabaggers is a gay sexual term. Try not to use it and offend gay people. The Republican party does not like the Tea Party, and a lot of us don't like them,, Me I am a reformed Democrat. Libertarian on most things.

OWS should quit using the 1% part. 1% are the outlaw bikers, who they do not want to mess with.. Use 2% it may not be as catchy. OWS in most places, it seems like more central America, have a different attitude at least in the first. It does seem like the Left and Right Coast have a more "radical" movement or attitude.

If it hurts to do something, don't do it. I hope that OWS see the error in some peoples ways. Kent State is not the way to go. It was a different time and country then. The larger amount of people were somewhat anti war Vietnam, if nothing else by having all the bad stuff on TV every night.(which was not fair to those vets) This is not the case today. There is not the same feelings to empower the OWS. It is said that over 50% of the US considers it's self a little more conservative or to the right of center.

If OWS wants true support, they have to earn it. Nothing in life is free.

Just my 2 cents, you can keep the change.
