Nothing weird about Avnet... they sell components to companies all over the world... think of them as a distributor of electronic components.... You could order from them yourself if you wanted to.

And GE makes lightbulbs that you can buy and has top secret contracts with the DOD, whats your point.
The fact that it is directly across the street from Lockheed Martin, and down the block from General Dynamics, and a few streets over from ten more defense research/manufacturing corporations is pretty weird.

Just to add a little political backstory to the PA defense industry.

The late US Congressman John Murtha represented Johnstown, PA for just about forever. Murtha, a highly influential Democrat chaired the House Armed Services Committee...and thru his political largesse he 'brought' many defense contractors to the middle of PA (Johnstown) and there was also a domino effect of subsequent contractors moving into PA to work with the 'Murtha' contractors. A lot of this happened in the late 70s and early 80s when the steel/metal manufacturing jobs left PA.

Tobyhanna and NWS Earle work on the same projects, The TLAM and TASM are transferred between the two bases by private transport contractors, usually Panther Inc.

Currently owned and operated by Lehigh Southwest Cement, it was originally founded by Henry J. Kaiser as the Kaiser Permanente Cement Plant in 1939.
--Stevens Creek Quarry which is an directly adjacent to Lehigh Southwest Quarry and Cement, just outside of the Cupertino city limits on Stevens Canyon Road, has been in operation since 1932, producing crushed rock for the building industry.--
www.abovetopsecret.com...

This cement factory that, for reasons mundane or conspiratorial, operates 24/7. According to hearsay, it’s run by some company called Heidelberg Cement. (Where its something for UFOs or a D.U.M.B for perform secret experiments for the government =P) There is the constant rumbling of machinery. Sheds, multi-storied cement construction, pipes, other unidentified structures, spread here and there. It is like a part of some industrial town right outside our piece of suburbia.
The skeletal structures, machinery, high-powered lights pointing all over the place, a compound nested behind some hills, its existence unknown to most of the town’s inhabitants…set your imagination on overdrive and you’ve got yourself a scene from The X-Files.

TR-3B's propulsion system as follows: " A circular, plasma filled accelerator ring called the Magnetic Field Disrupter, surrounds the rotatable crew compartment and is far ahead of any imaginable technology... The plasma, mercury based, is pressurized heated, and accelerated to create a super-conductive plasma with the resulting gravity disruption.
The MFD generates a magnetic vortex field, which disrupts or neutralizes the effects of gravity on mass within proximity, by 89 percent... The requirement for a dense material moving at relativistic speeds would explain the use of Mercury plasma (heavy ions)."

This technology was developed at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory by USAF in conjecture with Lockheed Martin and NASA
ALL right here in the Bay Area; LLNL, Lockheed, NASA-ARC. This including Mercury, which is a key ingredient to their technology, also known as Quicksilver has been mined in Santa Clara county since the gold rush. New Almaden Quicksilver Mine in Santa Clara Closed down in 1927.

In 1939 the city of Cupertino consisted mostly of fruit orchards with very few inhabitants. Kaiser Permanente Cement was the only large manufacture in the area. Few people were exposed to the dust and air pollutions put out by the cement plant. Trucks bearing raw materials and finished product could travel from the plant to their destination with little impact upon the few residents living nearby.

These was the early days of the industrial revelation when almost nothing was know about the health risks of these pollutants. The community around Lehigh slowly and continuously grew and orchards were slowly replaced by home and businesses. Then came the 1970's and the semiconductor boom. Apple, HP, and other electronics companies started to spring up in this area and the population exploded as people moved here for high tech jobs.

Thus the birth of Silicon Valley. The demand for engineers was great so many of these new resident were well educated.
Today Santa Clara County has almost 1.8 million residents and the city of Cupertino which just 40 years earlier consisted mostly of farms and orchards was replaced by home and more than 50,000 residents many of whom live in very close proximity to Lehigh Cement company.

This cement plant is the single highest source of mercury emissions in the Country (more than any oil refinery) and located in one of the highest populated areas in the nation.

Look at the present photo and look at the one from 1948

All over the country their are Underground Bases some you hear of and others that are beyond top secret

Hey folks- gotta tell you something that I've been noticing this summer. I live west of milford, PA, and when I go out back on the deck to smoke I always look at the stars. Good viewing in the near darkness of the woods there. Anyway, when I read this I checked the google map and found the back deck faces almost exactly towards Carbondale. Kinda explains some weird things me and my girlfriend have seen on more than two occasions in that area of the sky, plus other areas.

I'm no idiot (at least that's my opinoin...), but I do work in quality. My education is to observe, collect data, analyze... I don't own a telescope (yet), and have no pictures. But I'm hoping someone can at least support the supposed evidence. I know, I know, no pics = didn't happen- I'm working on that. And I know what conventional aircraft look & sound like- see lotsa them. But this was different. Gave off green, blue, yellow red, & white colors, blinking similar to strobes, but more glowing than blinking...

First time was poor weather: overcast, thundering, raining: most definetely not helicoptor weather. Object hovered for about 1/2 hour, under the clouds. Glides a little left, then a little right, hovers for 5 - 10 minutes, slowly rises into cloud cover. Estimated distance? Wallenpaupack-Carbondale area. Poke fun at your will, I really don't mind. Just curious if anyone else is seeing weird stuff in NE PA...

edit on 19-10-2011 by PaTommyJ because: WEST of milford, not east...dummy!

Seen more in the last two years than I ever expected to see in my life. It's all at a mountain just past Carbondale. The cell towers have gone up in the past two years. At first just one. Nobody got any better single....Now, as per OP tons of them they mess up the radio as you go past and you not only hear other stations you hear what sounds like radio hosts who aren't "on air". Dont' know how else to explain it and it is snippets, but doesn't sound like phone calls, sounds like brief moments from in a room.

There is a salt company in town. Had major broken windows and never anything going on there. About two years ago they got a government contract (looked it up at the time) and now there are white vinyl enclosures over all the windows and a all people must check in checkpoint gate.

Gentex is there as noted by the OP. The outside of the building (old brick building) was covered (about two years ago!) with what looks like chicken wire with little metal discs attached at regular intervals. Someone told me that they thought it was like grounding, static discharge protection? But I don't really know.

On the non conspiracy side of things it isn't far from where gas money is starting to roll into the state so some of the odd changes could be related to that as it is same basic time frame.
There is also long standing unsubstantiated but widely believed rumor that we are getting a train to NYC and a Casino.

They are building a huge conference center hotel in the middle of this podunk high unemployment rate town. Why?
It's either gambling or there's going to be some other reason for Carbondale to hit the map.
Again.
Site of the world's first underground anthracite mine.
Not far from the first train in the Western Hemisphere (brought to move the coal)
And, home of the country's first million dollar company. Who still owns all the mineral rights if I am not mistaken.

Also, Zillow values up 40 percent or better on a lot of center city homes in the past month.
Seems somebody is going to announce something? And at least some people seem to know.

Sorry to ramble. Had a couple of strange conversations about that town in the last year or so this is the gist of all of them.

There wasn't. This I can tell you for sure.
When I first started seeing things I found out about that and dug into it.
I know first hand from one of the then "kids" involved that it was a hoax by the kids.

I never debunk. You can check my other threads. I say this only because I know it for sure.

I think the catalyst in all this might be the incredible number of empty, closed down, abandoned coal mines in this part of PA. Perfect places for black budget development of whatever, and totally out of sight. The additional details of numerous cell towers in a sparse population area almost clinches it.

I live between Boston and Cape Cod. There are thousands of businesses here that have cell problems because of sparse coverage, and this is a really busy part of the USA. Why would an area like this in PA. have such and abundance of cell tower and relay support? Something is up.

Thanks for that info, watcher- good to know the local history in that area. But I do have one question, though. You stated when you "first started seeing things"... What kind of things? Is that in reference to the ground structures/activity?

Anybody ever noticed the towers in that region that are made to look like trees?

You can only spot them in the winter after all the leaves have fallen off.

I have made reference to it in other threads but have never made a thread about it because "pics or it didn't happen". My spouse tried to get pics and we have both seen what is to be seen, but the video captured isn't anything impressive you can't tell anything from looking at it.
So:
March 2010. Our attention was captured by these star like objects that move. It took us two months to determine if they were sometimes stationary (we believe they are). You don't notice them until they start moving. Watched the ISS overflight the other night SPECIFICALLY to compare to what we have been seeing. ISS was much lower than almost all of what we see and was brighter than all but one or two things we have seen. The star objects blend right in until you suddenly realize one is moving. "There's one of those things" is a common comment on our deck. I have considered that they were sateliites and most of them might be as they do seem to follow a trajectory most of the time (as did the ISS) but not always.

Once two lower objects went towards each other. Both got progressively brighter as they got nearer the other. Then with only a small amount of visual space (from my perspective) between them, they glowed really bright, shot away from each other and then disappeared. My hand was a claw on my husband's shoulder for that display.

On two other occasions to very bright "clean" white objects either fell or shot up and then fell. Was odd.

Single experience with a clearly man made craft, totally silent, flying low in a residential area (like tree level) at a speed that was slow. When I say silent I mean silent. It was the super bright light of it that drew me outside. There was a person inside wearing an orange jumpsuit and the back of the aircraft was open in some way.

Odd I know.
But that's what I have seen.

We are moving soon. I will miss the oddness!

Wow. You've seen quite a bit and had the same toughts I did. The ISS was a good experience for trying to get an idea of altitude- I didn't think of that. But now that you mention it, I agree with your assertion. What I was following the other night had the appearance of bring much higher that the ISS too. So, I thought satellites were the answer too. That went out the window when the stationary object was found in a different spot, and the movement was opposite the stars as they moved in realtion to planet rotation. Then it was a short time later found in a different spot, still hovering...

Many thanks for your time to put all that in here. Always good to get confirmation that one is not crazy (or actually is!! @
. I hope your move goes well and if you keep your eyes open perhaps your new location will offer a new and different skywatching experieince. I'll keep an eye on ths forum to see if you report anything.

Good luck!!

something is strange there.....this was last fall ...looking east from forest city

I lived in Lake Ariel, PA for 3 years while attending a private college in La Plume, PA. There is definitely an abundance of dense forest in the area to conceal nearly any kind of secret activity. I spent plenty of time sitting in the woods and watching as part of the curriculum, and didn't see anything I'd call unusual. Sometimes, there were law enforcement who would materialize and send me in another direction.

I just read this article and it made me think of your post.

Last week’s release of FBI documents finally put in writing what nobody had ever said on the record: The FBI suspected that former Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) and lobbyists close to him were running a scheme to funnel earmarks to sham companies and nonprofits to benefit the lawmaker’s friends and former staffers. Bits and pieces of this story were kicked around for years before Murtha died in February 2010.

The Los Angeles Times, Roll Call, the Washington Post and others had documented the odd appearance of earmarks for tiny defense contractors that just happened to open an office in western Pennsylvania and just happened to hire one of the lobbying firms close to Murtha and just happened to begin making campaign donations to Murtha and other Members of Congress close to him.

Source: www.rollcall.com...

My takeaway is that creepy town is possibly where Rep. Murtha's friends and family set up defense businesses with the sole purpose of collecting ear marked money. The town is creepy because these tiny military businesses are barely real, so on the surface in Washington DC the earmarks look somewhat legit, but on the ground where you are, the place is empty because its designed to collect money rather than actually operate.

Interesting take and I can see why you would make the connection, but it's the wrong side of the state. Our earmarks and family/friend money makers come through a whole different lot of politicians. Some of whom are currently under investigation by the Feds from local judges all the way up. There's more, but since I have to live in the general area that is all Im going to say about that!

For some reason I am not surprised. I am just glad that the "practice range" they wanted to build close to me(was like 5 miles away or less) fell through. That would of been a wee bit too creepy.
