OWS - Message to Humanity

I came across this video today. It sounds like it is narrated by Keith Olbermann. In it, he seems to list all the beefs that the Occupiers have. I am not sure if it is supposed to be directed at Corporations, Government or both.



There are a few things he said that people outside of OWS agree with. Some things he said are just plan wrong. Some things he states are typical liberal talking points against the right.

For example, workplace discrimination based upon age, race, sex etc. This is already illegal. He complains about attacks on organized labor. This is a highly prevalent liberal talking point. Modern day organized labor has done more harm than good. Workplace safety is already required and monitored by law. He also called education a human right. Really? Since when? Does he know what a human right is?

He talked also about blocking alternative forms of energy in favor of oil. Conspiracy theories aside, no company or individual is going to pass up an opportunity to make money if alternative energy was better, or easier. He also talks about companies make WMD to obtain government contracts. I am not sure what he is getting at here. It seems like the issue is with having companies produce military products.

Worst of all, he talks about doing all this in the spirit of direct democracy. Something America is not about.

I also think it is funny how they use a speech given to Tea Partiers by a conservative libertarian to motivate Occupiers.

So this is the first I have seen when it was listed what the complaints were. I agree with almost half of the complaints, to some degree or another. However, I just don't get what marching on wall street is supposed to accomplish to counter these complaints. This method only mixes genuinely fed up common people with organizations and political groups that bring corruption and discredit to the cause.

All of the issues brought up can either be rectified via government (legislation or lawsuits; thus the complaint should be made more directly to Washington,) consumer power (not using the products or services of the corporations at fault,) or simply by exercising personal responsibility and control.

I hadn't see the video posted yet. Nor had I heard any demands listed before. Do you have a link to that thread? I did a search and nothing came up.

They have consistently outsourced labor and used that outsourcing as leverage to cut workers' healthcare and pay.

PEOPLE WHO CAN"T AFFORD LABOR UNIONS

They have influenced the courts to achieve the same rights as people, with none of the culpability or responsibility.

CHILD PROTECTION AGENCY

They have spent millions of dollars on legal teams that look for ways to get them out of contracts in regards to health insurance.

LABOR UNIONS

They have sold our privacy as a commodity.

SOCIALISTS

They have used the military and police force to prevent freedom of the press.

LABOR UNIONS

They have deliberately declined to recall faulty products endangering lives in pursuit of profit. They determine economic policy, despite the catastrophic failures their policies have produced and continue to produce.

SOCIALISTS

They have donated large sums of money to politicians, who are responsible for regulating them.

DEMOCRATIC SOCIALIST OBAMA SUPPORTERS

They continue to block alternate forms of energy to keep us dependent on oil.

SUPPLY AND DEMAND

They continue to block generic forms of medicine that could save people's lives or provide relief in order to protect investments that have already turned a substantial profit.

PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANIES

They have purposely covered up oil spills, accidents, faulty bookkeeping, and inactive ingredients in pursuit of profit.

US MINERAL MANAGEMENT AGENCY

They purposefully keep people misinformed and fearful through their control of the media.

LABOR UNIONS

They have accepted private contracts to murder prisoners even when presented with serious doubts about their guilt. They have perpetuated colonialism at home and abroad.

SOCIALIST DEMOCRATS

They have participated in the torture and murder of innocent civilians overseas. They continue to create weapons of mass destruction in order to receive government contracts.
