the pit bull I have in my life is plenty dog for anything - she are loyal, defensive of my kids and family, and not very much trouble.

My alpha female Ellie is my dog. She never leaves my side, unless she hears the kids, then she's watching them. I trust her with my kids more than I trust anyone else other than my parents and wife. she takes two toddlers's abuse with grace, yet still keeps the house and yard safe.

the only thing I worry about with her is extreme cold temps. she's a short hair, to the point of having just wiry hair and little undercoat. In super cold or wet environments she's at a disadvantage, but in the South Texas environment she's pretty good in all the weather here.

I wouldn't trade her for the world. She's sixty pounds of security, strength, and support for the whole family.

I live in South Texas - it doesn't get dramatically cold for long - if she's cold she curls up with someone and sleeps.

I wouldn't leave a family member behind and my dog is no exception. Now cats on the other hand is a different story. They serve no purpose if you ask me.
