Just found this video roaming about Facebook. Thought I'd post it here since it's an update on the 1 marine vs 30 cops video.

Enjoy!

Much respect for him and his service even if the war in Iraq is a unjust and phony war.

More respect for him standing up for the protestors and mentioning the cops punching
that woman in the face who had not assaulted any cop.

All I ask is the vets not engage in violence because that will be used as a trigger
for an escalation by the cops and others.

I am not going to the protests because I do not want my name on a list, but I respect those
with the courage to go in the face of the secret lists being made.

Good Luck to all the good ppl !!!

Thank you for finding and posting this.

It's good that there has been follow-up on this story, especially to add strength to the argument that the Sgt is a genuine former Marine and Iraq War veteran.

I have read arguments on prior threads by some posters that he could not be a Marine because his uniform is not correct. The man is no fool and as an ex-Marine, he clearly knows that he must not wear correct uniform and thereby represent himself as a currently-serving member of the US Forces. His uniform is effectively symbolic. It says enough about who he is and what he has done in service to his country; why some missed this point and didn't even bother to check that he was no longer in the service (or at least weigh that argument) is beyond me.

I respect this guy immensely, not just for what he said so publicly (and loudly!
) and for standing up to the face of authority, but for the fact that he is a veteran who volunteered to serve his country.

In this interview, he expresses himself eloquently, he has a reasoned and balanced perspective, and is totally rational. He is clearly not some kind of nut as some might claim.

This man is an excellent representative for the people of his nation and I admire him.

Mike

Thanks for posting that OP !

This Vet said that when he had had rocks thrown at him while on patrol in Iraq, they as Marines didn't react aggressively in response to the Iraqis because The people throwing the rocks were unarmed.

His point being that these OWS protesters are also unarmed, and non violent, and don't deserve being treated as though they are.

Because one wears a uniform and badge, where's the honor in punching a woman in the face anyway ?

PEACE

No problem guys.

I don't know if he will have consequences for what he did, but I think he should be justified because he did take an oath to protect the constitution and its people both foreign AND domestic.

I think he honored that oath when he did what he did.

Maybe I misunderstood, but I thought he was a civilian at the time of the incident in question..

This is what I love about ATS deny ignorance. Many of the posters in those threads are the same you see in similar threads Trolling with scripts and spreading fear. I have my suspicions about several of them as I always see them popping up in threads where someone with military background takes a stand.

Remember psi ops are alive and well and there are departments in every military dedicated to disinformation .

I maintain this man is a real American hero of the people.

I still dont get it......

Still seems to me from the video that they were there because he was going off........

And like I said, people took it the OTHER direction.........

The guy was raving and yelling, they showed up, did WHAT THEY WERE SUPPOSE TO DO, and watched and stood by to make sure this guy wasnt going to get violent........

Its funny, they do what they are suppose to be doing and all the sudden OWSers have "1 upped" the man....

They get violent and they are Nazi Jackbooted zealots who need to be put down like dogs.......

Damned if they do and damned if they dont......

There was NOTHING in that video that suggest anything other then they were there to monitor some raving guy in a military "uniform" yelling like a crazy person..........

Everyone behind this movement is so anxious to find heroes in everything............be careful where you look for them, and careful who you put on a pedestal............

It's great to see a real patriot standing up against injustice and the stifling of freedom of assembly of the American people to seek redress for their grievances against the corruption and greed of the Corporate Oligarchy.

The real traitors to America are those that want to shut down OWS by marginalizing the movement, calling them names and protecting the welfare for Corporations that really control the Government.

The real OWS aren't socialist or communists, like the Rush Right want you to believe; they are Americans that want a level playing field and the same opportunities afforded to the Corporate elite.

Power to the People!

WE're in the End-Times.

This nightmare is about to be over. (for Christians, but for non-believers it just now beginning). People saying that I should dump the bible and things, umm yeah right.

We have an Orwellian Super Congress Junta, forced through by Obama on August 2,

Stock markets are gyrating wildly, the only thing that is keeping it up is crazy hyper-inflationary deals. Fighting a war in a part of the world where this whole thing started, even pre-bible that is Babylon.

AMericans are stockpiling on guns and food and gold. Read St. Augustine's City of God. That book speaks to our times very strong and true.

Hal is that you? Hal Lindsy is an idiot as are most Revelation scholars that have been predicting the END for as long as I can remember. Sorry, I'm calling cheese on this one but if the Bible gives you comfort, fine but don't use it to spread your brand of fear based on stupid interpretations.

I love it when people I disagree with can be proven wrong, and this is one of those times. So many people were saying that this guy wasn't even in the military or a vet, commenting on his uniform, etc...So ha HA. Ok, now that that's done, I just wanted to say I like what this guy did.

I wish he would have been more prepared with his little speech, but he did fine I suppose. I didn't like that he kept saying the same thing over and over again, but I guess the adrenaline kicked in and he wasn't really thinking that hard about what to say next.

Unlike the other U.S. military branches the Marine Corps allows lesser ranked people to take the initiative when necessary in a combat situation... SGT Johnson and all other Marines carry the title of Marine for life and what he did was not unusual at all... They don't wait to take orders or obey bad orders when they know that their actions are the right thing to do at the time and no one else is as well suited to get the job done.
