Officials in Rick Perry's home state of Texas have set off a scientists' revolt after purging mentions of climate change and sea-level rise from what was supposed to be a landmark environmental report. The scientists said they were disowning the report on the state of Galveston Bay because of political interference and censorship from Perry appointees at the state's environmental agency.

From The Guardian.

Politicization of science is always bad business, but this takes it to a level unseen since the Bush White House. It's one thing if you want to conduct a scientific review of conclusions to see if the data really says what the scientists are claiming, but when you start deleting objective facts to further a political agenda, you've gone off the deep end. You're no longer serving the citizens, you're serving yourself. Here's one example of information that was edited out of the report:

TCEQ even deleted a reference to the fact that the bay is currently rising by 3 millimeters a year—five times faster than the long-term average.

From MotherJones.

I'm just glad to see the authors of the report taking a stand and refusing to have their names attached to this now-farce of a report.

Yes it has been a bad business , but its so easy to sucker people in when you put science beside it .

Many people don't understand science is a method not a position. Its a on going art if you will as new evidence and data comes in, to help paint a better picture and in some cases clear up the fog *cough * global warming *cough*

Actually science is the opposite of art. That's why they call it arts and sciences. Science deals in facts. Facts that apparently Perry's people do not want to deal in.
