there's a local group starting and their meeting spots were sent to local news channel and police which had the areas cordoned off so when the protesters showed up they were shocked their spot they chose were already blocked off.

and thankfully so, cause we didn't want them blocking traffic which they planned to do. And thanks to some insiders getting the info out before they got situated we were able to keep the nutters from blocking traffic.

Man wake up. You talk about "them" like they are all nutters or the enemy or something. These are every day American people who are protesting. The point is to make their unhappiness with the system known. Inconveniencing a few motorists is a good thing. Cops have all the guns, Corporations have all the cards. How else is the wise minority supposed to peacefully incite change? This kind of ratty activity may not be illegal but it is forcing the wedge further between Social infrastructure and the people they serve, If the PTB are always juxtaposed to civil protest they are symbolically criminalizing it more and more. When gov.'s dont pay attention to the signs of an unhappy society this is what naturally happens.

If anon can do it by hacking why can't this guy do it without?

Well that's actually a good point. I think the issue is that people have a hard time accepting anyone that has a different agenda than themselves.

Old fashioned word for it is spy. Of the military kind. Who is he working for, the highest bidder? How much does he get paid to infiltrate? A paid informant makes money, where the protestors are working for no cost. I'd be ticked off at that if I was a protestor, regardless of the cause, that there is an impostor in the middle. A fraud. A Judas Iscariot type.

Where does the information go? Does he save it for blackmail later? Does their information get sent outside the country? Do they get blacklisted for political jobs in the future? Are they all PATRIOT acted by now? Do they get investi-harrassed out of the area later? Does someone call all the big employers and tell them not to hire these protestors in the future? Are their homes bugged now too? Their cars on a sabotage-later list, if they have them? If they live too close to an unsolved crime, are they now the first suspects? Does their details get sent to a foreign government that frames them as spies or easy targets? Are their families in danger?

You don't really expect me to believe that every officer in the NYPD and every agent in the FBI is clean do you?

It would be interesting if they got a class action lawsuit made against types like him. Informants are sometimes the worst crooks, because they have a kind of immunity with them.

Indeed. Despite the CSI and Columbo-style propaganda you see on the teevee, a goodly proportion of law enforcement investigations would be doomed to failure if it wasn't for your basic, everyday, stock-standard scumbag informant. In 90% of cases, law enforcement agencies will continue to allow an informant to continue his or her nefarious activities regardless of the legality. The law enforcement agency personnel in question are then (according to the letter of the law) assisting said scumbag in the commission of a crime by not keeping him or her off the streets when they became aware of the activities. Most cops being realists, they are however prepared to sacrifice a little fish in the hopes of landing a bigger one. It might not be moral but it's good tactics.

Life's not fair, and those who think they have authority over us only follow the rules when convenient or unless their legal doublespeak backs them into a corner and there is no other choice. That's why the wannabe spy/hacker in the original post will not suffer any legal sanctions for violating the rights of the Occupy kiddies. He was working for the "good guys" so he gets a free pass from the judiciary along with a pat on the back for a job well done.
