Firstly, you are SEVERELY simplifying "democracy".

Second, the specific type of democracy to which you are referring is DIRECT democracy, and the issue of "tyranny of the majority"
(personally, I too, am opposed to DIRECT democracy)


Having read many of your recent posts on this, and several other threads,
I believe that your heart is in the right place and I appreciate your passion.

This is why the good people who are among the tea party movement need to leave it and start a conservative wing of the OWS movement.

When Glenn Beck and Fox news back you, and CNN, NBC accept you, than you are probably a black ops campaign.

All I know is the media does everything to dismiss the OWS and Ron Paul. That should be telling to most Americans. It is time for us to stop slinging red vs. blue crap and realize we are on the same team. Ron Paul and OWS are practically on the same page when it comes to their main grievances. The differences between the two are healthy debates any democratic-republic should have.

I am a progressive to the left, but I am probably voting for Paul, knowing my democratic congresswoman will back him against the banks and the fed, but also help temper the parts where I feel he is too conservative.

I am done voting for a party, I am voting for people who will cut out the cancers. I know I can do that with a mix of conservatives and liberals.

I wish others would take this approach as well.

you are damn right about voting for an idea not a movement , i think a lot of people are working to discredit ows sometime because that their job some other because they are following mass media trend .
If you go on liveleak you will see a lot of propaganda against ows , some of those guy are probably fake personna financed by black budget ,both way they fail so hard .
Some people rather mind their own business their own life , than to help other and see the real truth the bigger picture , i guess those people are going for a bumpy ride.

I'm not American but I like your approach - if I was I couldn't vote for Paul due to his conservative view on abortion stem cell etc - but as you say tempered by someone else - could work.

You people who are complaining about the possibility of things getting violent ....... I have a question for you.

Exactly how far do you think the American Revolution would have gotten if there had been no bloodshed?

Do you think the King of England would have changed his ways with peaceful protests and politely written requests?

I think not.

We the people have tried politely asking and writing our politicians. We have voted new people into office who have promised to change things but then did the same old, same old.

The politicians will not listen to the people until the politicians fear for their very lives.

The police are the violent ones! They SHOULD be charged with police brutality, but they won't be. It's just that sort of corruption that OWS is standing up against. Americans are supposed to defend each others' freedoms. The police are nothing more than enforcers for the corporations.
