colbe, With all due respect. This thread is about child abuse claims in a church in America. ATS is not about converting people to a religion. You think you have it all figured out - your whole life is based on Catholicism. Obviously it works for you. This does not mean that everybody needs to go this route. In fact, you yourself admitted that it does not work anymore. People have lost faith and sins have pretty much overtaken the whole enterprise. Why should Amanda make a good confession and become a Catholic? Give it a rest, seriously...

corsair00, respectfully,
Quote me, where have I ever said the true faith, the RCC does not work anymore?
ATS is about these times. I believe spiritual preparation is the only way to
make it through now and ahead, through what is prophesied to happen.

Don't read what I post, there's your answer.

I did cite proof - it is you who is like a broken record - you are going around in circles.

Stop - breathe - you have every right to your beliefs and I respect that. Please learn to put the Bible down sometimes and read other literature. When you read widely you can compare ideas and concepts and it will help you broaden your thinking.

If you keep harping on about me - someone you do not even know - you will look like a religious zealot and I am sure you are simply passionate about your faith. Keep reading your Bible just include some other literature as well. It is just like our diet - we can drink water only but every now and then a little bread is good too!

This thread is about paedophile behaviours going unreported. This thread is a forum for everyone to voice their opinion. This thread is to alert us to the fact we need to be very vigilant when it comes to all Children.

Much Peace...

corsair00,

Sins have not overtaken the Church, (Matt 16:18) Jesus promised. The Church and the world are being purified.

I am not speaking to you but to the people here who mock the faith and the
priesthood. Will people ever "get" it? We are all sinners, doesn't take away the
holiness and purpose of the Christ's ministerial priesthood.

Read the recent heart wrenching words from Our Lord to Pelianito:

Amos 9: 8
The eyes of the Lord GOD are on this sinful kingdom; I will destroy it from off the face of the earth. But I will not destroy the house of Jacob completely, says the LORD.

“My beloved, they have ravaged my house with their sin; they have ravaged creation with their greed. What is left? How am I to respond when all that I love is profaned? There must be a correction. Creation itself is sighing and moaning under the weight of sin. The rocks and stones that praise me, now cry out to me. If I am not deaf to mere pebbles, how much more does the cry of the oppressed reach my ears? My heart is rent by the sufferings the lowly are made to endure at the hands of those with earthly power. Children your fasting pleases me. It consoles me and gives my mercy an outlet on earth. Pray! There is much more to come.”

Let this be a reminder. The topic of any valid thread on ATS is never about another member. The attacking of members for whatever reason is never justified.

The topic and title of this thread is "KC bishop charged for not bringing porn to police" Keep discussion to that subject.

Thank you.

www.huffingtonpost.com...

Here is yet another story regarding a priest sexually molesting children. I did some research and it is apparent this is quite the issue with the Catholic church. Not only are the instances of sexual offenses against children alarmingly commom within this organization, but apparently from the article yet again the priest has given information to a Cardinal, that chose to do nothing about it. I feel as though the fact that this Cardinal knew of the priest molesting these 2 boys and decided to do nothing should make him personally responsible for any other children molested after that point and prior to the priests arrest, and that he should be prosecuted as well in that instance. At the very least he should be charged with obstruction of justice due to the fact that part of the case was dismissed due to statute of limitations.

I think another interesting sidenote to mention is that the priest was arrested at the airport returning from a vacation in Thailand, in my opinion it appears that the priest found it to be relaxing to go to a country where he could fulfill his need for molestation of young boys without fear of prosecution.

The priest scandal is a homosexual scandal, liberals and anti-Christians and some anti-Catholics support sodomy so they have to call the scandal something else. There has been a prophecy, given to more than one seer, San Francisco is going to be judged by God for sodomy. Most of the folks replying to hearing of this message from Heaven, deny sodomy is a mortal sin! Episcopal or is it Anglicans, they have homosexual bishops.

There are good and holy priests, 1.5% have been accused. Who is the judge, how do you know if all of them are guilty? There have been bishops who have
covered the scandal up out of fear, whatever and they will face God. Not every
bishop has done this.

Do you recall what happened to Thailand at the end of 2004? God judged
that area of the world. A place of child sex slavery and a vacation spot for sodomites. One of Oprah's staff, was there when the Tsunami hit, he survived, his homosexual partner died.

Satan knows the true faith and how you get to Heaven. Since the homosexual
scandal in the priesthood, he has most non-Catholics condemning the priesthood
and he laughs. He hasn't won. Jesus is coming soon.

Bishop Finn is a devout, humble and traditional bishop. The libs in the diocese
have found a way to get rid of him.

from a forum member at angelqueen.org.

_ _ _ _

"As an attorney that practices criminal law in Missouri and whose children attended the school overseen by Fr. Ratigan most recently, I've followed the case and have some familiarity with the issues involved.

I think it is important to note that Bp. Finn is despised by progressives and liberals in the KC area. I have had conversations with co-workers, where they tell me that they left the Catholic Church because of Bp. Finn's orthodoxy. The liturgy in this diocese, while unquestionably rough in spots, is making steps in the right direction. I have also found Bp. Finn's positions on issues of moral theology to be sound.

All that being said - it is clear that horrendous mismanagement occurred with Fr. Ratigan. Concerns were reported to diocesan authorities well before Ratigan's attempted suicide. Friends who work in the chancery here are telling me that information was not properly passed on to Bp. Finn. My thinking is that he should have acted more aggressively in following up on any reports personally...and not trusting in a subordinate to handle matters. Further, once Fr. Ratigan was removed from the school, his supervision was entirely negligent.

I don't believe that it will come to light that Bp. Finn had personal knowledge of exactly how bad things were with Fr. Ratigan. Should he have? Probably. There may indeed be some civil liability in this matter. But should he be held criminally liable for failure to report? I don't think so. Nor do I think the State could win this case at trial.

I do think that the most liberal elements of the diocese are using this as a way to attempt to remove a pretty solid bishop. Actually, I don't think that, I know it. I personally know the people responsible for much of the campaign to oust the bishop - and while they, like myself, are outraged about Fr. Ratigan - the real impetus behind their campaign is Bp. Finn's conservativism (obviously relative to the rest of the NO).

He is a bishop of the Roman Catholic Church and my diocesan bishop. He will be in my prayers and have my support unless or until he is removed."

The organization S.N.A.P. and the liberal press wish to portray every Catholic priest as evil and every bishop
an enabler. It's not true. You are closed if you only listen to them.

BISHOP FINN DESERVES BETTER

October 21, 2011

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on the controversy over Kansas City-St. Joseph Bishop Robert Finn:

The Catholic League will have a lot to say about Bishop Finn and his accusers over the next few weeks. For now, we want to make it clear that we stand by him without reservation. Why? Not because he is a bishop, but because nothing he did deserves the kind of mad reaction against him that is emanating from many quarters. In a short time, we will lay out the details of our support for him. But for now, keep in mind the following:

Many strange photos (crotch-focused) of young girls, fully clothed, were found on the laptop of a priest last December; one showed a girl naked. Though Bishop Finn never saw it, he was told of it. The result? The picture was described to a police officer the next day, and an attorney for the Diocese was shown the photo. It was determined that the photo, while disturbing, did not constitute child pornography. The priest learns that they’re on to him; he attempts suicide; he almost dies; he recovers; he is sent for treatment; he is not considered to be a pedophile, but is said to be suffering from depression; he is then placed in a spot away from children; he is subjected to restrictions. After violating the restrictions, the cops are called; more damaging photos are then found.

This account is quite different from what is being bandied about in the media. To take one example, there is an editorial in today’s New York Times saying that Bishop Finn “knew of the photos last December but did not turn them over to the police until May.” This makes it sound as if Finn knew about hundreds of photos of child pornography and did nothing about it. In fact, there was one photo, that was not sexual in nature, that was found. Moreover, a police officer and an attorney were notified immediately. Later, after the priest proved to be recalcitrant, the police were contacted.

As I said, we will have a lot more to say about this issue. Stay tuned.
