One-Year-Old Tries to Work Magazine Like an iPad

What's with the touch screen?

this is an interesting example of how behavioral paradigms are established by the things we use. what would interest me further is how these new ways of thinking influence our overall perspective on other things. at my age, i can remember a time without the internet but i have often wondered what it would be like to grow up with online access. my first acces to the internet was 1996, my junior year of college, and the idea of having an encyclopedic wealth of information easily cut and pasted for high school papers seems incredible.

it's fascinating how new tech changes not only how we do a specific thing but the influence stretches out into how we go about many other things, even thinking!

Don't think I would let my one year old child play with my ipad.
It would be hard to get all the drool and spit up off of it,not to mention that it would get thrown and stomped on.



A book is a childs best friend.
My kids are 10 and 13 and they were brought up with books.

And Steve Jobs didn't do it,the parents did.

Yes I wonder what the future holds in store for these little kiddies. My kid is 16 months and knows how to unlock the iphone and start apps. Kids are smarter than I thought.

exactly right. if her parents were more like you she wouldn't be trying to click on magazine pictures. to me it's still interesting how our behavior can be altered by technology. it reminds me of kubrick's '2001' and the apes who learned to use tools.

Basics are essential in child development.
Human touch and interaction.Reading and talking.
Not all those silly toys and learning tools they try to force down a parents throat.
I have a feeling that the child is going to have developmental issues later on in school.
I should know,my wife is a special ed specialist for the school district here.
Or as it is called now,ECE, exceptional child education.

It won't be long until she learns that magazines can be cut/torn up and pretty pictures and paper dolls can be made with a little glue and glitter and placed on her walls.

Finger puppets from the magazine models are also a very important tool for her first You Tube puppet show!
