There are too many variables such as what machine are your running, what OS are you running, what browser are you running?

select it with your mouse and it will invert the colours

I'm not so sure, the highlights are within the occasional "External Content" Boxes that accompany
some threads. It is yellow text on a light grey/white background. Not yellow on a black background
which is easily legible. The highlights are Hyperlinks to Advertising material for the most part.
As far as variables, I am using Windows XP/Internet Explorer. I think this has more to do with the
ATS Web designers or Advertisers than it has to do with Settings on my PC. My reasoning on that is
that on other websites, The Hyperlinks appear in Blue Font by default.

I could be wrong, that is why I am asking you smart members out there.
