How's that Wal-Mart job working out for you, hangedman? Thirteen hour shifts, no overtime, is it? Sounds great. Keep up the good work keeping your manager's glutes polished over the holidays.

I love the indignation to being scrutinized by the ows members on ATS
Flatfish brought up the union support as one of the idealogical differences. And how much money do they pour into campaign contributions?? Where is the difference between a corporations campaign donations and a unions? Please don't fall into the old view of unions. They exist now for their own benefit as opposed to the workers. Workplaces are pretty well covered by laws that the unions helped get enacted. Now unions help protect the inept and encourage mediocrity. All while ensuring a mandated set of benefits
Unions are not run by the workers like some like to think. They are more like pyramid schemes with the locals all answering to the parent union. The unions too have their hands in the decline of this country and people don't seem to want to see it.

I'm a proud union member of SAG/AFTRA and you are full of BS. Your Rush ideology has clouded your logic and common sense. Without my union representation I would have no Health insurance, no recourse if hurt on a set,
no retirement, no legal representation when the production companies refuse to pay us, etc.

Now unions help protect the inept and encourage mediocrity.

More BS. Our union training and apprenticeship programs put out the highest quality workers in America.

We do quality work and we deserve to be paid for it!!

I also support the OWS in their struggle against corporate/banking greed, corruption and bailout welfare for the rich paid for by my tax dollars. The corporate oligarchy and their paid lobbies in DC, is where the decline of the country is located; not with the American working man!!

In Unity there is Strength.

No I experienced the union life myself thank you very much. And always found it grand on how the union heads had such nice brand new cars
Oh and walkingfox watch the personal attacks you presume to much. whaaa you may not see that where you are but here in NY that is the racket. How in all honesty can the unions use members monies to support political canidates? That smacks of the 1% thing the ows is preaching against!!

OWS main goal is to take out the corporate money from politics leaving their own unions to buy politicians and lobby and yeah that is hypocritical.

You have to understand, these Elite have a lot of boot polishers. I mean how can any decent person support these bankers, These bankers elite are paying people by the hundreds to try to discredit these protesters.

Its hard to understand how anybody can support these Elite, The only money the banks are making is from us tax payers, Were paying for them to be bailed out everyday to the tune of billions, That's what people don't understand. These guys are bankrupt now,, The GOV just keeps them a float by us middle class. paying for it all. and I'm not exaggeration at all.

That's why both party's have set up fema camps all across the USA, They want to keep this status quo going and the expense of the middle class. I mean really how can anybody support this thievery. I'm for one am not going to set back and let my family get ripped off anymore,, Now who would you rather support the Occupy movement or the Banks, who own the media, and Radio.. This might be the start of a second revolution..

Your rhetoric is clearly not intended to as anything but an attack.

There are good points to industrialization. You decry the lack of jobs, while at the same time hating industry that would provide them. You are unconcerned with how ridiculous this is.

Now, should corporations and special interests get a greater say than the people? No. Do they? Yes.

50% of people do not want "pollution in their backyards." The economic, social and religious conservatives in the USA have been forced together in some Frankenstien pact. That pact is fragile, and it is kept in place by people like *YOU.*

Unions can be a good thing.

They can also do all the things they are accused of.

They protect the wrong people, and in doing so they sow the seeds of discontent with them.

Until unions decide to deal with the idea that you cannot protect every slacker and bad worker indiscriminately, they'll continue to be disliked.

I hope the OWS crowd gets more attention. I hope that they are looked at with the same intensity as the Tea Party.
I hope that what we just speculate and posit, will become common knowledge.

That this so-called movement is an aggressive attack on the Constitution, it is an aggressive attempt at "social justice" a redistribution of wealth.

Just my humble opine, of course.

Actually that is happening...

Some conservatives that I greatly respect have actually gotten off their butt and went to a OWS gathering.

www.abovetopsecret.com...&addstar=1&on=12576519#pid12576519

So who do I believe? A conservative that actually investigates or some Rush, Sean, Savage parroting conservative or his sockpuppet.

I think I'll take Misoir's opinion along with my personal investigation where I saw plenty of TPM folks in attendance.

Oh wait, arent the OWSers hacked off at people making a lot of money.........

Your hypocrisy is showing , and so is your maturity..........

Atleast hes at his job providing for himself, and his family.........instead of marching around with signs aimlessly with no direction ......

This could be a scene from OWS +4015 days...

As a Constitutional Libertarian myself, I disagree here. The Tea Party's solution was the constitution. The OWS solution is Van Jones.

It's easy to get swept away by emotion but where does the stream lead? A nice quiet lake...or Niagra Falls?

If I happened to be there in support, and Gore, Sharpton, Rosanne Barr, Piven, The Fat Director, etc showed support, I'd take that as my queue to leave. Having stood with the tea party, peaceful, clean, upstanding citizens, and having been berated as racists, right wing extremists by all these losers that now demand we stand with them? I don't think so!

It sounds to me like you get your information from the Mainstream Media and not the Internet live video feeds??
Who the hell is Van Jones? Never heard of em.

So basically what you are telling me is this:

IF I protest tomorrow against government corruption and abuse of authority, and Al Gore comes along and says "Good job buddy I agree", than I should stop protesting tyranny and just bend over and take it up the rear like a good slave?

Oh and if I protest tomorrow and some Communist decides to protest the same day I do, that makes me a communist automatically now? How come he isn't a Libertarian like me? Why ??
Oh because the MSM said so. I get it...

Well now you can change the title of this thread to: Tea Party goes after American Nazi Party, or Tea Party goes after American Communist Party or...this one is great...Obama's reelection campaign!

The things we're against are similar but the things we are for are very very different.

Tea Party members please don't be fooled. At the local protests here the occupy movement had plenty of Tea Party members and even OWS members with anti Obama signs. They have to have us fighting because if the Tea Party and OWS joined it really would be impossible to stop.

We would join the protest and try to educate the protesters about the truth of what is going on.

Spread education. These people are fed up with this corrupt system, get out there and tell them the truth about government, politics, corporations, economics, etc.

Teach these people and help them focus towards the solution.

YES EXACTLY!
This is what I have been doing. When local people here organized an Occupy protest the girl that was doing it got in touch with me because I knew a lot on the topic and I helped her prepare for speaking with the newspaper. That is why this small town has one of the most focused and intelligent (albeit small) protests going on. Simply put she went to the newspaper with the message: We are tired of the conflict of interests between corporations and politicians. That needs to end.

That is why our protests are anti wall street and against the current administration. The one here is truly bi-partisan.

My question for the OWS crowd is, Why aren't you at work?

People are spending DAYS protesting. I just don't get it.

Why don't people put that much effort into getting a job?

shameful.

I know people who have been out fo work for years. what are they missing out on ? the same old openings that get 500 responses, and go to the cheapest candidate with perfect qualifications ? the people I know have knocked on doors, written letters, made phone calls, and usually are working 2-5 part time jobs to keep thier homes.

it's simple math, you have to understand this right ? too many applicants, not enough jobs. can you wrap your mind around that ?

so you can keep doing what you have been doing, with no results, or try something different.

these people aren't trying to impress you, they are trying to make a change

It's not I promise. Ignore your right wing conservatives harping on about how it was started by socialists and blah blah blah. Obama supports it because he is running a campaign and has to. I can promise he is very nervous about the movement.

As for people worried about who funded or started this movement it doesn't matter. As I put it in another thread.
"An evil man can put down a thousand dollars hoping it furthers his agenda only to have a good man can pick it up and do something wonderful with it."

Well.. that's me paraphrasing myself because I'm too lazy to look up what I actually said.

I don't get this site.

There's PLENTY of support for the Tea Party but when other people, particularly young, educated liberals, take to the streets to protest Wall Street, they're mocked and denigrated by the teabaggers.

Why can't both movements find some kind of equal ground?

Wasn't the original Tea Party supportive of Ron Paul? Why not use that platform to advocate for punitive charges for irresponsible bankers?
