I didn't believe a word of that article. Its just trying to divided and conquer the two groups. Trying to pigeon hole both the movements into the Right/left paradigm.

Lets see if the political propaganda machine will win this times.

I can see one side is a social movement and one is a political one. Not being an American I can see the rhetoric on both sides and the mud slinging.I tend to side with social movements and are more to the heart of the problem. There is a occupy movement where I live tomorrow. I might go down and see how the atmosphere is, if it is good or bad.

How can it be dis-information unless someone is claiming the Al Gore, Soros, Obama, Warren Buffet to name a few are tea baggers. The communists have come out and admitted they are communists I guess they are tea baggers too.

Of course you've never heard of him.

His recipe for "change" is, "Top down, bottom up, inside out".

They've got the "top down" in this Marxist administration. They've been working the "bottom up" since the 60's and now it comes to fruition with these OWS lunk-heads. Once they've begun their violence, the "top" can come down from on high and cause their fundamental transformation of the U.S.

Van Jones

There are tons of great vids on this maniac if you've got the interest in looking them up. The OWS are leading us all to the slaughter house, unwittingly by some, purposely by most.

Watch the other hand.

I expect this branch of the Marxist tree to get very ugly. Then I expect the other branch of the Marxist tree to came down with the "solutions"...all on queue, funded by The Tides Foundation, funded by Soros, with all the makings of another gazillion dollars earned by betting against while causing our destruction.

OWS claims to be a "social" movement where the tea party was political, but I think when your social solutions are communist, it's time to take them down.

EtA: While I've been thinking this for a long time, the 2 branches of the same tree idea was the analogy I heard from Beck. It made so much sense to me that I'm keeping it.

Read over this to understand it better :

THE OFFICIAL STANCE OF THE #OOCUPYEVERYTHING - OCCUPY TOGETHER - #OCCUPYWALLSTREET MOVEMENTS AND ALL ASSOCIATED MARCHES & OCCUPATIONS THROUGHOUT THE PLANET CURRENTLY :

This group wants absolutely nothing to do with the corrupt 2 party oligarchy as both have been bought and paid by the banks, The Federal Reserve and Wall Street and does not need nor require money from 1%'rs and to say anything otherwise is a major dis service to this group and movement as a whole as we see people like Soros as being apart of the problem and does not endorse millionaires or billionaires. No corporate dollars are welcomed and if one were to attempt to finance this movement it would be rejected and returned with a note saying "No sale!"!

To believe anything else means you are being seriously deceived and tricked and said source should not be trusted or taken seriously and if it does not come from the aforementioned it is not to be taken as the official stance. No General Assembly in any group throughout the planet will amend this ever!

All are welcomed from all faiths, ethnic groups, political persuasions, LBGTI, animal and kid friendly as we will not discriminate, we will be friendly to all. Illicit narcotics (marijuana to meth while all scrips prescribed to a fellow protester are obviously allowed) and liquor (all forms) use are banned and will get someone expelled and turned over to law enforcement. Come as you are! Remember, there is no member of the 1% that is on this website which means we are all The 99%!

Two branches of the same tree is right.America has been socialist for a long time.Socialism for the rich (eg bail out of banks, GM which was bailed out in the 70's too) or socialism for the poor (welfare, social security medicare). Which one is better for the population? Those too big to fail companies made money on the way up and down and just robbing people blind.People are tired of it and hence the occupy wall st movement.

Exactly. (Exactly to the rest too, but this is the part I'm focusing on.)And I'm sure they soon will be out there with them. Movements like this take a while to get defined and rolling and often do consist of vastly diverse factions, who while they may have some differences (age, race, economic "status," minor differences on relatively trivial social issues) do finally realize they have a major thing in common.

I've being hearing about some 53% thing lately too in opposition to OWS. Same ludicrous argument as these people who are preventing real change and progress in this country? The 53% apathetic? The 53% afraid to rock the boat? Who are the 53%?

As to the person who said why are these people working? Duh.

If the Tea Party weren't against it, the OWS movement wouldn't be worth a plugged nickel. I don't think that the OWS movement wants or needs the support of the Tea Party and if anything, it's the Tea Party that could learn a thing or two from the OWS and not the other way around. I mean really, who's movement is going global?

Other than the fact that both movements are being fueled by people who are fed up, they are really polar opposites of each other. While one movement, (Tea Party) wants to eliminate taxes and the federal government along with all of it's regulatory agencies, the other movement, (OWS) wants to increase taxes on the upper 1% and they want the return of a government "Of, By & For" it's people and devoid of corporate special interest lobbyist. They want more stringent EPA & SEC regulations, not less. They want to see an end to predatory lending practices and hedge fund creations like mortgage backed securities and derivatives. They want to see strong and fully funded Medicare and S.S. programs and not the elimination thereof. But most of all, I think they would like to see some accountability from those who drove this nation's economy off a cliff in the first place and I believe that's why they chose Wall St. for their protest site. You know what they say; "Follow The Money."

One more way that you can be sure that these two movements are from opposite sides of the political spectrum is the fact that the unions are supporting the OWS movement and that certainly isn't the case with the Tea Party. I don't think anyone could get any more anti-union than the Tea Party, just ask Scott Walker.

IMO, the OWS movement is more about protecting "People," and the Tea Party movement is more about protecting "Money."

My question for the OWS crowd is, Why aren't you at work?

People are spending DAYS protesting. I just don't get it.

Why don't people put that much effort into getting a job?

My question to you is don't you care that the Big Banks are being completely subsidized by us tax payers ? if they were a person they would be on food stamps and medicare.. They are able to operate under completely different set of rules then any middle class Americans.. Do you like socialized Banking ? Do you like the fact there able to use there deposits then leverage them to trade on Wallstreet, Then if they lose they need a bailout,

You have to understand the big main stream media, profit from these hugely from these Big banks, and they will say anything about the Occupy movement, Just think remember in 2008 did you hear anything about how bad these banks were performing NO you did not, They kept that from us.. its only after it happened, did they say Houston we have a problem, Now should we set back and let them, Its not the that the banks can't make a profit, its they have to make a profit the same way every other business makes it..

Just think if you did not have to count any of your debt on your credit report,as debt, but as a asset, Thats what the big banks do now,, And yet even if you have a 700 credit score and asset's They want to know everything about you I mean everything and yet, they and the fed does not want us tax payers to know anything about these institutions.. Go figure.. And you want us to put are head in the sand F that, This crap as to STOP!!!!!!!!!

Mmm. Looks to me like an old Roman tactic is being uitlized here. Divide and conquer. As long as the people are fighting one another, the real culprits (politicians) are getting away with destroying our country. Everyone needs to join forces and get on the same page.

Ya I hope the real tea party shows up and joins forces with this movement, When Thomas Jefferson said the banks were more dangerous then standing Army's is was right, These banks represent a CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER TO ALL AMERICAN'S, both partys are bought and payed for by these institutions, We need a Government that will represent us, not letting lobbyist control both party's and the News media make are talking points FOX news CNN MSNBC, all represent these huge banks and will never let anybody get any real air time describe what the real problem is...

It will be interesting to see what happens, especially since Tea Party members are also part of the 99% that the WallBaggers claim to represent.

Obviously the math doesn't add up, maybe instead of protesting they should go back to school and take a refresher course in basic Math?

Of course the Tea Party is upset about the comparisons. After all the tea party is a pro-corporate astroturf "movement" fueled mostly by deluded, over-privileged, under-educated folks who enjoy the suffering and privation of others. OWS is, in fact, almost a complete opposite.

Though frankly it should be OWS getting annoyed by the comparison, while the Tea party should be gracious; after all comparing the two elevates the tea party bunch.

Why are the Left and the Right so unbelievably stupid?

Corporations often don't have your best interests at heart. Big government also isn't in your best interests.

You spend so much time going after each other because of the actions of a few, that you utterly fail to be anything useful at all.

Both sets have idiots. We all know. Now, can you get on with it?

Here's the trouble though.

Roughly half the nation is unabashedly, worshipfully, self-damagingly supportive of all things corporate. They want more poverty for themselves so the corporations can have more profits. They want more pollution in their backyards so the corporations can save a few pennies. They want their political process corrupted and turned inside out so the corporations can have the laws they want. They want the destruction of competition in the marketplace so that their favored corproations can reign unchallenged. They want people's children and grandparents to sicken and die, if the alternative is a cut to pharma profits. They're happy with the notion of our food supply being compromised, just so long as ConAgra is raking it in. They have no problem with the public treasury being raided, because AIG executives need a big bonus and a two-week cruise. They think that a tax plan that increases their own taxes by 30% while cutting the taxes of the wealthy by 80% is excellent. They believe that the education of the next generation should be handled by corporate spokespeople from Disney, Pfizer, and Lockheed-Martin, rather than teachers paid by the public.

If you want to do anything to correct the imbalances caused by unrestrained corporate power, you have to get past these useful idiots, this self-destructive vanguard of ninnies who will starve to death in the interest of lee Raymond getting his twelfth chin.

If you don't like the terms of "left vs. right" then maybe you should make a new term. Whatever bloats your goat. But this is the way it stands. A sizable portion of Americans involved in the political discourse of our nation are actively seeking to destroy this country in the name of corproate profits. Why? Personally I think it's because they're #ing stupid, but maybe they have some cogizant reason. Doesn't matter why, really, just that this is what htey are doing.

I love the indignation to being scrutinized by the ows members on ATS
Flatfish brought up the union support as one of the idealogical differences. And how much money do they pour into campaign contributions?? Where is the difference between a corporations campaign donations and a unions? Please don't fall into the old view of unions. They exist now for their own benefit as opposed to the workers. Workplaces are pretty well covered by laws that the unions helped get enacted. Now unions help protect the inept and encourage mediocrity. All while ensuring a mandated set of benefits
Unions are not run by the workers like some like to think. They are more like pyramid schemes with the locals all answering to the parent union. The unions too have their hands in the decline of this country and people don't seem to want to see it.
