No word limits at all, short of a 1-liner that adds nothing to the conversation.

I know what you mean.

I have a method you might try... I call it the 'Wet Foot Writing System'.

Start out with no idea what you're going to write (which is where you're at) and pick a city. You begin with a sentence like 'It's a blustery fall day in ____ and I'm walking down ____ street'.

It's like when I want to start a painting. I stare at that blank canvas and wonder what the heck I'm going to do with it. I have no idea. So, I just pick up that paint brush, dip in in whatever colour is close at hand and start slapping it on. Whatever happens happens and that's always the best way to create. Trying to have it all done in your mind first stifles your creativity. It should 'flow' out of you like you're turning on a tap.

Let your story write itself.

Indeed..nothing that I write is planned out at all..I go with the flow..but like I've been saying, for the last few months...it's all gone..I have no creativity left..seemed like it's vanished. Got a few lines written down right now..but it just doesn't seem right; like there's no emotion behind the words.

Ah well. I shall come through one day!

I'm still struggling to come up with anything worth posting at all so I know how you feel here, It's pretty frustrating really. But yeah you're a great writer BP, I know for a fact you are, and I know you can come up with something really good here. So I hope you keep trying.

I got your message earlier on as well btw.. So yeah come on skype so we can steal each others ideas again.

Having members and staff volunteer as judges has always been a hassle. If having members pick their favourites through flagging works, maybe we can have regular contests again.

The 3 top stories will be picked by early Saturday morning.

Yes And I have just read some of the stories they're really awesome so far...even though I grew tired of the subject these stories were nice, real creative...I'll have my hands full if I do decide to submit one, so many competitors!!!

I disagree. I am new to the short story forum and I was able to create two stories for this contest just for the fun of it.

You can do it, and I am sure your imagination would fare just as well as any of these other stories. Give it a shot....I would love to see your take on this.

oh well, I didn't think it was about winnning.

I think this was an exercise for members -> if a member wins they get writer status?

jump on me straight away if I am wrong? But if your a writer already, contribute but what is the point of getting writer status if you already have it?

I just love writing and a challenge so that is why I contributed.

There will be three winners chosen, based solely on the number of flags their story receives from your fellow members. Stars don't count.

The contest runs until Friday night, October 21.

Winners only will get writer status and 5 'applauses' each from me to boost your kharma and points.
