This is what I've recently read on the Los Angeles OWS...

Violence may be necessary? - LA OWS

That may have been a speaker out of step with everyone else. Based on what I've watched at the Atlanta and other GA's around the nation, he is. I just hope that is true. He's not hinting at but out right declaring it to be a very solid socialist movement with language I haven't heard used in public since before the Soviet Union fell. Again..I hope he's a lone example...This isn't the type of thing I want to be involved with. I'll see better after this weekend when I'm out at one in the Midwest here, I expect.

More likely a agent provocateur, to justify the coming crack down, I wouldn't be surprised if we see laws enacted on pretense that prevent public protesting.

Let them do so then...that would be the most blatant act against free speech and the constitution...

yes but is that exactly what they want, I know this type of thinking can get circular and you end up never acting because of fear of doing what the otherside wants.

However the reaction to OWS and in general the situation to the US seems like the events are all related, Iran terror plot, police reaction to OWS, etc. It kinda looks like they are screwing things up on purpose, that or maybe just maybe they are losing power and struggling to maintain their hold.

It seems we are all destined to live in interesting times.

I'd personally enjoy it if the government showed its fascist head sooner or later...at least then these people would have a real good reason to be there...at least then, some of these people calling them commie hippies or socialist pigs would have to hold their tongues (or their fingers in this case) in check...

It sure is interesting to watch develop. We've been hearing about how times and events would come to pass and this is the time frame I've been hearing about for that now for most of my life.

I agree, we seemed destined to wherever this is all leading and whatever attempts seem to be made to slow things down or derail it just cause the flow of events to change course a tiny bit...never actually changing the overall direction.

Whoever came up with that 'May you live in interesting times...' deal ought to be here to see what that is turning out to mean. We certainly are living those times by what we're all watching around us. Every day brings a new round of headlines I never thought I'd see.

People can say a lot about ATS, but honestly its one of the most up to date place to see different news from all over that wouldn't be seen on major media here in the US.

Violence MAY be necessary... Are you one of those "Violence is never the answer" people?

Do you know ANYTHING about U.S. history?

How about the massive labor movement in the first half of the 1900's? Unions, protests, strikes, etc..they weren't all lovey dovey flower power "sit down strikes"..

Wait a minute................Oh Yeah!!!! oh YEAH.. non violent methods have worked SOOOOOOO well against tyranny.. i mean history is just LOOOOOOOaded with examples.. Heck, why are weapons even needed, right??

Have you ever heard the sayings about "pitchforks", "rope", "find a tall tree", "tar and feather", these types of things are THE ONLY THING that have worked against the Rich-Corrupt Politician-Elite-etc... for hundreds of years...

Violence IS THE ONLY THING THE BANKSTERS KNOW>> ----------> violence <----------- is the only thing that will work, thats why the NWO/Globalist elites (lack of a better term) have been putting the police state control grid in place since 9/11.. They knew long ago the scam would run its course.

I'm about as far from 'Violence is never the answer' as one gets without serving active duty in the Military. However, I'm interested in situations that have even an outside chance of winning. I am CCW qualified and permitted. I carry every day. Knowing I have that on my hip and having gone through training well beyond that joke of a CCW class they require, I still wouldn't consider pulling that to use if I faced a dozen gang bangers at once. Defense works...Suicide by stupidity, doesn't. (That all changes if my family is with me...the only choice is to go down fighting and buy them a chance to run. That situation simply leaves no other option)

So, violence may come at some point, I am well aware of that. I'm also realistic. If I am with a protest group that goes up against a professional law enforcement force, the outcome is never a question. We lose, and that is that. The only remaining question is, how many protesters walk away, how many go to jail and how many just go straight to the Emergency department of the local hospital. In that situation, getting the upper hand was never even a possibility.

If there are 20 cops and SOMEHOW the group gets the upper hand, 200 more will show up. If somehow those 200 feel threatened, mutual assistance calls will immediately go out to every city within reasonable distance to respond and HUNDREDS will be there in the time it takes to drive the distance as fast as thier cars can physically make it. It's a 100% No-Win, Period.

If you see a viable way that outcome is different and can articulate it in a real world way we can understand, I'd seriously like to hear it. You'll be the first I've ever asked who could.

Likewise, setting out with the idea of violent confrontation is simply insane. Many will disagree here, but I'll ask those people directly, where they've been in violent protests or in honest to goodness street situations where people went down with SERIOUS injuries and the fighting was for real, not simply some bumps and bruises in the process of a messy arrest.

Now, for what it's worth, there aren't any major protests I care to be at within easy distance this weekend and my city doesn't have anything going I'd take seriously, so I'll be travelling several hundred miles to my spot for Saturday. I hope to get a far better idea of what this whole thing is about by spending a couple days in one of the major camps. In doing this, I'm well aware of the fact I could be arrested and I could be beaten if my timing is off and things go badly there. It's something I have to come to terms with in simply being at a major location. I'm NOT looking for it and I WILL avoid that outcome if at all possible.

I'm having a very hard time understanding the mindset of the people who DO want to see things go that direction and just what sequence of events they foresee that leads anywhere but a hospital bed or a morgue. Perhaps you can enlighten me on how one gets from peace to violence and doesn't end the day in one of those two places?
