Press TV going off the air in the UK

Seems like the anti-iran propaganda is now in full swing , with Iranian news channel Press TV being forced off air by watchdogs (ofcom) over apparent in-balanced reporting!!!

The British media regulator has reportedly decided to remove the channel from the SKY platform. The move is considered to be in violation of the UK media law and the result of mounting pressure on the organization by certain members of the royal family and governmen

Press TV has also been attacked for its critical coverage of the extravagant lifestyle of the British royal family and their flagrant disregard for the common British citizen at a time when state-endorsed austerity measures and deep budget cuts have been plaguing Britons from all walks of life.

Seems TPTB want us to get our fill of fair, balanced reporting from Sky news(!)

I can't help but feel that with the recent so called 'terror plot', the western war machine will stop at nothing to ensure the anti-iranian rhetoric flows to the masses without question.

Its not that far in history that the UK enjoyed good relations with the Iranians. Its a shame this has changed but with the Royals - I see its a huge day for gambling on the horsees mahm! - and the Hs of Saud and probably Liam Fox's mate's benefactors another lot that hate Iran, we should not be surprised. I remember being able to read some of the Iranian blobs on the net which show what the people think though, so all is not lost.

I suspect our royals are a dying breed because once her mag goes charlie boy is not a popular figure and its not as though they really serve a purpose any more. If the Arabs get some form of democracy and that creeps to Saudi borders then the Saudi rulers will probably fall. Its very hard to compare democracy here with lands where tribal interests rule they are two different backgrounds of people. Ancient tribes died out in Britain long ago.

It is fine I will just continue watching Press TV over the Internet. Beggers believe, they criticise other countries for doing the exact same thing. And then they go and kill the switch here. Brace yourself those in the UK this is only the beginning.

I don't care if Press TV is balanced or not. They at least give a different viewpoint to the standard BBC line. This is bad for what it might mean. Stuff em - I'll watch it on the net.

I agree. I have fired a letter off to my MP. Voicing my distrust of State controlled TV such as the BBC, and asked that he demand an explanation over why it is the Regulatory Authority think it is right to censor alternative news channels. If I do not get a response from him I will write to the Regulatory Authority also.

Once again could the be a prelude to the Political classes controlling the so called free press in the UK.

the daggers have been out for some time now with regards to press tv. the only dirt they could nail them on was a technical issue with the license from four years ago. all the other issues we really just crap. this really shows ofcom for what they really are. not fit for purpose and full of ex channel four and bbc executives intent on scoring brownie points with the current gang of bullies.
we can watch state approved porn (desmond tv), gambling, violence, shopping channel paradise and all the other weapons of mass distraction but oh dear, get close to the truth or criticise the gubbermint on the eyeball chewing gum machine and off air you go.
info war just got tweaked and sooner or later a decision will be made on how to manage the flow of data and information on the interweb.
on the bright side however, there is the small question of appeals all the way to the european courts. this (whatever the outcome) will reveal who has interest in pushing a certain agenda and who is really impartial within the buildings of influence.

Check this video out. It shows some Broadcasting Board of Governors guy calling Iranian PressTV, Russia Today and Chinese CCTV as "the enemy".

Its pay back time for the press revealing the Expenses scandal, that is what a lot of editors from the Main newspapers are stating. Off course the Politicians are denying this. I do not want fox's news in the UK. They are more bias than Press TV or RT is.

bbc is self regulating and ofcom have no remit to investigate complaints. it was discussed on radio4 ! thursday on a different topic namely the overhaul in funding and attempted complaints by listeners to ofcom as to the death of the long wave band and the poor coverage of certain areas with the dab system.

Is PressTV down for everyone else in the UK?

It's been down for me (channel 515) for a while now (at least an hour since I switched on) the picture is frozen on one frame. All other channels (we have hundreds) are working perfect.

Down for just me then, or anyone else?
