I am a very infrequent visitor to facebook mainly as I am a billy no mates and dont want fake friends. However just tried to log on and keep getting a warning page from my norton saying

Fraudulent Web Page Blocked

You attempted to access:

www.facebook.com...

This web page is a known fraudulent web page. It is recommended that you do NOT visit this page.

For your protection, this web page has been blocked. Visit Symantec to learn more about phishing and internet security.
I am pretty clueless about this sort of thing and did carry on regardless and all seems well at the site. So why the warning now.

It happened when I used a history link .When you put F into search bar last facebook search comes up. Seems ok now I have gone through google and then searched for facebook and went through that link. Not sure why it suddenly came up as dodgy site. Edit to add still does it if I hit toolbar history link but fine through fresh google search. Done a superantispywhare scan and all good.

FB does not need to be hacked, many users put tue information up for grabs that a hacker is looking for anyways. There for no need to hack it.

Actually its now doing it through my fresh google facebook search it lets me go to home page but when I try to visit internal pages i.e profile its tripping the Norton warning page. Maybe my Norton has gone super sensitive.

Norton just tries to warn you from the tracking software on the failbook page, that will sniff ot your computer and sell all your personal details to all the 3letter agencies and spambots worldwide.

Do not panic, business as usual.

Not sure as its never done it before and now its doing it every time I try to visit the site or one of its pages. Why is Norton suddenly blocking the site when it hasn't ever before. ??

Well I was a bit sarcastic in my last post (the bit about fb sniffing you out is true though)

Honestly, I cant answer your question.
My guess right now would be:

a FB changed something to their code which looks fishy for Norton
b Norton added new features/updates which think FB is fishy.

When did this happen to you the first time ?
When did you do a last update of Norton ?
Did you start using any apps in FB lately, such as games ? If so; when ?

They actually have a forum over at Norton which covers the issue.

If you're seeing this issue, could you also include the version of the Norton product you are running? We've received a few reports that this is occurring with NIS 2011 and Norton 360 v4, both previous versions if products. As a reminder, if you're running an older version AND you have a valid subscription, you can update for free at updatecenter.norton.com.... Thanks.

Firstly thank you for your time and response. My Norton updates all the time automaticly and is a bought cdrom version. I have never played any fbook games that would be a step too far .I have no idea why its suddenly blocking the site. I would be interested to hear if anybody else is experiencing theses problems. The last thing I did on it was to check out a Guy Martin post link to a British superbike championship news page nothing dodgy. Its totally unusable at the moment.

the only viruses norten can pick up is the ones they or their partners made.
