How do they differentiate who is "Parent 1" or "Parent 2?" Seems to me nothing is any clearer.

For crying out loud!! How on earth does it affect you if they add "parent 1" and "parent 2" after "mother" and "father" on a form??? It's not giving you any rights, or taking any from you. No you're ignorance is digging you a hole that you are not going to be able to climb out of.I am sorry your parents instilled all those negative beliefs in you the same way that extremists Muslims get 10 yo's to blow them self up.Its called brainwashing.I thank God that my parents didn't fill my mind with all that stupid crap.And i am married to a women and all my bros and sisters are straight.People are born gay or straight.Just a quick question.How would you feel if you grew up not being attracted to the opposite sex and was attracted to your same sex.Would you just marry the opposite sex because thats what you think is right. a lot of men and women have tried that and it always ends destroying their family..People don't become gay they are born that way today,yesterday and since the beginning of time.

Anyway, here is your exact wording

So I was under the impression you were going by a number of people killed in the name of religion...I'm not sure if there has been any study done which has delineated wars fought in the name of religion since the dawn of recorded history or how many people have died in said wars. Would be interesting. Does the Bolshevik Revolution count as war?

Also I would like to know if you have compared people killed in wars with people not killed in wars, but in non-related circumstances.

I didn't read through most of the thread, so this may have been said already, but it's a shame people must be reduced to numbers for the sake of the insanity that is called political correctness. Yes, that's exactly what it is. How far are people willing to go in the name of 'equality'? Why don't we just go ahead and alter everyone's brain and physical appearances to match everyone else's so that there are no individuals left and everyone is exactly the same? Why don't we just reduce the English language down to just a few words as to not use any terms that may be considered 'discriminatory'?

If the terms 'mother' and 'father' are considered offensive to homosexuals, then what's being said is that heterosexuality itself is offensive. Anyone who supports this law is completely out of their mind.

Maybe a hundred years from now, we’ll be able to eliminate the gay gene to resolve this very issue. I am really tired of the PC crap! I won’t go into the details, but endless millions in taxpayers dollars have been put forth to make a small majority content/secure about who they are, and how they live their lives. In time, we will have the same issue here in the states. After making the necessary changes to appease the minority, the bill will be at about $800,000,000! I guess it will be worth it. Don't want no one to be hurt....

I feel that two systems could be put into place: the traditional one and an optional one on the lines as stated, that could be used by same sex partners.

Or maybe they could get rid of the term "marriage" and call them opposite-sex partners, and same-sex partners... That sounds much better.

In order to prevent discrimination, put yourself in the place of the person being discriminated against. If it feels unfair or unpleasant, it's probably discrimination.

Here in the Netherlands we already have forms that are formatted in this way with tick boxes with titles for each parent, which I find a decent way to fill out the form!
I am not appalled or offended by it, I find it proof of the fact that the government has moved into the next century and recognizes that couples can comprise of same/ opposite sexes!!
I am glad that the UK has moved forward also!

I have a brother who is gay. So don't push the "what if you had ....." scenario. I am also an Occupational Therapist who works with all types of people. I am more understanding of people than you could ever even begin to imagine! Don't assume bubb! I can have my opinion like anyone else.
