Cant imagine why after all this time and actually letting the guy take the camera home, would NASA do this?
What could possibly be bad about this camera being in the general public's hands that they would tarnish their image like this. Seems to me to be way over the top.

To be honest, I don't really think there's a conspiracy to this at all.

If there was..think about it carefully. Mitchell wouldn't want to sell the camera to a randomer..he'd keep it either in fear of what he saw or to someone very very very high up...or leak it somewhere. Selling it to a randomer isn't going to do anything.

I think he just wanted to make a lot of cash.

True, but I just find it so incredible that they would bother with a piece of junk over 30 years old, whats only claim to anything is that it's been to the moon! How much money are they going to waste on a relic they gave away anyway!?!

I thought moon walkers were a highly prized and protected species who were above the mob when it comes to rules such as not allowed to take one or two mementos home and take your camera home from time to time,... just like executives are allowed to.

the link

After ferrying Mitchell and Alan Shepard between the command module and the moon's surface, the lander was allowed to crash onto the moon.

So we only see crashed landers on the moon at random locations.
All we should expect to see at the landing sites are the base platforms.

All this time I thought we were looking for complete landers.
No wonder I'm confused on the moon conspiracies.

So the camera might show evidence of on the moon or not perhaps.
