Anyone else think it's worth noting that there were almost four times the ammount of visitors voting than members?
Some of the numbers were really interesting when you take this into account.

It's a sad state of affairs when one can't win on the merits of their ideas, but on the ferocity of their animalistic instincts.

I agree, I see no need for violence whatsoever when it comes to this subject.

I wonder why so few members take the survey.

I'm not sure.

But I am sure we will see violence if this poll is any indication of how OWS members feel about the world around them.

Apparently since the socialism idea isn't resonating with most of the American people, they'll have to beat it and kill it into everyone.

We are "99%". You Will be Assimilated. Resistance is Futile.

The violence question didn't strike me as odd because I have heard people say that Americans need to take to the streets and riot like they do in Europe. The London riots were an inspiration to some but to me it showed young adults burning small businesses to the ground. Bash me if you want but basically I see young and stupid without a solid platform and oh well if they get jailed Mommy & Daddy will bail them out, how cool is that.

I wonder how many guest are OWS members, they don't really look like the kind that would get violent to me, if they do I doubt it last long,

Plus, it is going to get cold soon,

As to the non-members, if someone were to type "occupy wall street survey" into Google, the ATS poll shows up in the third result. Meaning, this survey had enormously high ranking on Google and was super easy for people to find.

See for yourself: lmgtfy.com...

The most profound comment I've seen yet in this thread.

Think about it. Ponder upon it. Use it as a filter to view the "protests", to see what seethes beneath the veneer..

But above all, REMEBER it - and remember that you heard it first at ATS.

These are the same people who rioted at G20.

These people have already been reported trying to bum rush police lines and then they call "police brutality" when the cops respond to their aggression.

The left loves to riot. It's their idea of exercising their right to PEACEABLY assemble.

Any mass of people can be turned to the mindless violence of the Hive Mind.

Being cold does NOT improve one's disposition.

In the post in my signature you can see, I talked to cop in Boston last Friday night and he was positive it would get violent.

He wondered who provides the protesters with electricity and who authorized their stay, the mayor or governor. Furthermore, he was positive the protests would get violent, he said with the new seedy element in the mix and with enough time, people will get hurt.

Cop also though protesters were in the wrong place, he felt the Boston Common would be better because high rises surround the Common, the State House sits at the top of the Common and protesters could attract more people and more eyes to their causes.

The seedy element was homeless people and drug users stirring up trouble among normally peaceful people who would get violent. And, without clear direction the protesters were bound to break the law somewhere, whether marching in the middle of the road and impeding traffic and commerce...

Thats exactly what fascinated me most about this poll. 5000 members to 21000 guests. I keep thinking why would you bother to vote on a site you are not a member on unless of course, you are deliberately trying to influence the results of the poll? I know there are always lots of visitors but the voting number here suggests a particular interest, which I would have thought would have led that voting visitor to vote.

People on this site, except the obvious trolls, are here because they think for themselves. Human's aren't clones so there's diversity of view, but the thinking process works here and ideas flow. Any government with unrest at its periphery is going to be on the alert, and in the West we haven't had uprisings against good old capitalism, so it must be a jolt that the gravy train is grinding to a halt.

I was glad the poll gave a very clear message about how pis-ed-off people are at the obvious symbiotic relationship between money and government that is not a reflection of the democratic values people think they are all voting for.

I don't understand why, if this site earns money from advertising, it doesn't make membership a requirement for voting on its polls which would increase its revenue, or is its revenue based on hits or something like that

I was extremely upset with the way ATS's main show Saturday before last handled the OWS discussion.

It seems that the over all negative stance of the hosts is not reflected in ATS members overall.

I am glad.

This survey also shows that there are a disproportional amount of negative threads on OWS to positive ones. The critics seem to be screaming loudest.

It wouldn't have mattered which way the polls went, people would be crying foul.

Violence is indeed unnecessary, but there is this intimidation factor that can easily be a cataclysm for violence.

However interesting thing that needs to be noted is that, the people obviously are taking the streets because they feel there needs to be a change.

I don't think it's got anything to do with politics either.

The protests are peaceful with some chanting, and what is wrong with that.

Peace

Negative on "abandoning" the guests. The legitimate ones have a voice and deserve a say same as the members.

Separating them out like this also gives a good idea of the "bot" response. When bots are afoot, you know SOMEONE has a keen and vested interest in shaping opinion outcomes, and that's ALWAYS a good thing to be apprised of in the analysis.

Who you decide that "someone" is will of course be subject to your own analysis and critical thinking, but it's always good to know when it's afoot, regardless.

I agree, most often in these survey's the difference between member and guest is the most telling sign of the value of this site, always a few gems - I was very surprised to see the guests outweighing the members when seeing violence as an acceptable outcome.

I'm not. I fully expected the majority of ATSers to support OWS.

Especially when you consider the fact that these same people don't know the difference between a lenticular cloud, earthquake lights, and what HAARP ACTUALLY does.

If it's not some BS logic about HAARP, Obama's birth certificate, and aliens controlling the government, then it's not worth knowing.

I actually would like martial law. It either unites people to stop the bad, or it gives one of the bad guys an opportunity to cross over with a huge military force.
